Last day at the farm for a while

Where are we today ?
New Hamburg Ontario
We have been here at the farm for 5 weeks now and its been a busy trying time. Just as we were heading out (five weeks ago) we got a phone call that Suzie's mom had been admitted to the hospital with heart problems.  We turned around and came back to the farm to be close and in the following weeks a triple bypass, and stuff followed. Last monday her mom was released from the hospital and is at home recovering from the operation. With the help of her husband (my father in law) and lots of friends and relatives all will be going well and with exercise a proper eating she will regain her strength.

So today we are wrapping up a few loose ends. First thing off to Lazer Audio and  Electronics to get a minor repair done to our CB radio. A busy newer Truck stop at hwy 97 and the 401 that just become Ontario's newest Flying J about a month ago, previously an Esso station with lots of big rig parking. A quick two dollar repair to the CB and back home.

Pick up Suzie then off for a visit with my mom in Waterloo. A minor adjustment to her computer then off to the Olde Heidelberg Restaurant Tavern and Motel for lunch. This place was established in 1860 and has been going strong ever since.

pig tail dinner
Now a short country drive with mom and she always wants to buy lunch, and we appreciate it too. She won't let us buy and no point in arguing with her. I had a craving for their tasty pigtail dinner, only available in this area of Ontario and so tasty. With fries, sauerkraut and peas it was yummy and hit the spot for me. Suzie had a schnitzel on a bun, not nearly as good and ma had her standard toasted western sandwich. A very nice lunch , thanks ma.
Had to rush abit because Suzie was off with her mom and dad to visit her family doctor for a post operation visit. I guess all checked out good and she is in the recovery process. While she did that I had my last ride on the grasshopper for a while for about 4 hours of mowing lawn.

Omer looking the other way
After the lawn mowing we were able to relax and read for a while and play with Omer for a bit, but now he is ignoring us, I think he knows we are leaving in the morning.

We are not going too far, about 90 minutes away then back in this area for a week, and then??? That's our plan and maybe we will stick to it, you never know!

Glad you could drop by for a short visit! Tomorrow the plan is to be at Rock Glen Resort in Arkona by noon. And enjoy the very hot heat wave that's coming this way to southern Ontario.

  3. It's good to hang around a place we like and then move down the road only to return when we want. Heck, I'm going to miss Omer!! I know he's certainly going to miss both of you.

  4. I'll have to take your word for it that the Pig Tail dinner is tasty. I'm not that adventuresome and just don't think I could try it.

    1. No problem, Suzie even likes them just does not like the fat so takes a while to pick thru it. If you like a pork roast with the skin cap, the pigtails are even better.

    1. That's why it's a small pic. I know you would not eat something like that!

  6. That Lazer audio guy (OK, Tedd) looks like he'd be quite a good resource to have. I have this ageing Yamaha CR-1000 receiver back home that needs some "tweaking", and it would be convenient to find someone who still works on electronics. AND knows what the heck they are doing.
The receiver was purchased in '75 and is still going strong. Hate to part with it, but the FM end of things is all over the place.
