Just more great weather, lovin' it!

Where are we today ?
More amazing weather today, just lovin' it. temps in the high 80's (30c) but a nice breeze, does it get any better? Think not. Just puttered around for a while, enjoyed our books in the shade with a nice breeze.
Then early afternoon, its a nice day so headed up the hill to visit our friends Al and Sandra. Got there and two other couples that we know are there too. So catching up, telling stories and a few laughs, every one had a great time for a couple hours.
social hour or two
Last night when we has the storm watch we rolled up our awning. Oops the strap broke so cannot open it again without a ladder. So first thing this morning headed to the office and saw Rob there just heading out to London Ontario. Asked him and he agreed to pick up a new pull strap for us while in town. So this afternoon it arrived and now we are good to go once again. 14 years out of the last one pretty good. Thanks Rob for picking this up for us at a wholesale price!
new awning strap
A short while later, another storm came in, lighting, thunder and real heavy rains for only about 15 minutes.
water flowing down the road
Then I can fire up our Weber to grill a "Cured Boneless pork Loin" rolled in corn meal. Essentially, Canadian Back Bacon. So nice to do as a roast on our Weber Q.
sunshine again almost
preheat the grill then turn to low and slow cooking
put on taters in foil with onions and the Back Bacon roast
now we can enjoy our books for an hour,
turn the roast and  taters every 15 minutes
last 15 imnutes add the brusel sprouts, turn every 5-6 minutes,
Internal temp of roast about 165f, tender and moist.
let roast rest 10 minutes and carve, awesome!
So there another great, almost summer day, good company,  good books, and good food, Was awesome.
Thanks for stopping by and hope your day was good too.

Yippee! we havin' a heat wave....., storm warning too!

Where are we today ?
Well here it is finally the heat wave we have been waiting for so will take full advantage of it. Love this hot weather, only going to last a few days thou and and back down to cooler but comfortable temperatures.
screen shot at 9:05am
last night's sunset
Up early as usual enjoying this summer time weather. A few walkabouts then a quick trip to town, pick up a couple kaiser buns for supper, and 3 cobs of corn, only .50 cents.

Then another walkabout and stopped by Mike and Trish's trailer to visit with her Mom and Dad. They came in last night for a couple days on their 53rd wedding anniversary camping tour with their Class C motorhome. So nice to see them again and catch up, first time this year. After a while its soon time to head home for a light lunch, don't want to wear out our welcome.
Suzie with Trish's Father and another dog
Got lunch done and with such a wonderful day figured it was time to service our house batteries. Just two six volt deep cycle. So removed the cables and batteries, cleaned them all up, polish the terminals and cables. Top up with distilled water (only took 1 cup each) and reinstall. I do this 2-3 times a year and the last ones lasted over 7 years.
batteries all cleaned up and ready to re-install
Most of my work done for the day so can relax in the shade, with a nice breeze for a while enjoying our books. Until its time to fire up our Weber and grill and couple chicken burgers with bacon and the three cobs of corn wrapped in foil for a tasty, early light supper.
Bob came by and cut most of our grass.
Thanks Bob
The early supper was put on hold for a while, because of severe weather warnings. We were advised by management to roll up our awnings, secure things and head to the clubhouse. Well most people did that and we just hung out on the porch, but the storm apparently passed north west of here in a short period of time (thats good). But we did get to hang out at the clubhouse for a bit, chat with people and watch the storm pass us by. Kind of an informal "happy (social) hour".
storm coming in
hanging out at the clubhouse
Back home fired up our Weber, umbrella in hand and grilled the corn, chicken burgers and some bacon for the burgers. A tasty filling supper was had. The corn was not the best but then again where do you get good corn at this time of year in Ontario?
gotta cook supper, rain or shine
nicely cooking
really hit the spot
Then time to hit the rec. hall and play darts with a bunch here, first time this year and always a fun time.
Suzie in good form
Darts done and Suzie's team came in second place walked away with a whopping $2.00 prize but we sure had a lot of fun.
On the way home got invited to a campfire so stopped by neighbor Rob's for a while, enjoyed a nice campfire and conversation, people always dropping by too. Now time to head home, finish up posting our blog and call it another awesome day!

Comment from yesterday about cleaning the Weber grill form Contessa.
" But then you have to clean the grill itself! Now that is a chore."
        Answer:
Cleaning my Weber Q is not a chore because preheating 15 minutes or so burns all the stuff away and a quick brush makes it good to go. In three years I have only once cleaned the grill and was not much of a job at all.

Want to thank y'all for stopping in and enjoying this awesome day with us again, hope yours was good too. Sure glad we have no mosquitoes here!

Sunshine, warmer weather and just an awesome day!

Where are we today ?
Hey we having awesome weather again! Last night windows open, fantastic fan going, yep its sure is nice. Oh yeah we had some very heavy rain, thunder and lightning (so I am told). Me I hear nothing! Sleep like a log for 6-7 hours.
So morning walkabouts then Suzie tells me laundry day. Ok no problem she sorts the stuff and I can walk the 75 feet to put in the washers here. Walked back an forth a few times , got more exercise and three loads of laundry washed and dried $7:50 total. Can't beat that with a stick can ya?
no crowds here at our laundry, well campground not busy either.
While laundry was doing we enjoyed our books for a while in the shade, nice and warm today 80f (27c), sure do love this weather.  Then had our friend Irene (A.K.A. "soluth" - silly old lady up the hill) stop by for a visit and chat. Lots of interesting stories and jokes, she has to tell. Such a supper lady has been at this park now for at least 40 years. Just had her 80th birthday the other day too.
Soon laundry done and I gonna prep a sweet potato and brusel sprouts on our Weber Q to go with a couple smoked pork chops for supper. Sliced up the sweet potato and prepped af few brusel sprouts, tossed in olive oil and sprinkled with some Mrs. Dash, Garlic and herb spices.
relaxing in the shade with our books for a while
then it's "Beer 30", no happy hour so we have our own
Soon time to fire our Weber Q, on high (15 minutes) then turn to low, grill the sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, (about 20 minutes, turn every 6-7  minutes), couple smoked pork shops and heat up a double cheese bun with garlic. Remember, low and slow.
ready to eat ?
that's it so tasty and tender
That was it for a wonderful almost summer day, got stuff done, visit for a bit and cooked a tasty supper.
Gonna get hotter again for the next few days, just lovin' it.
Glad you could stop in too, anytime you are in the neighbor hood drop in.

Rainy day and a fun, useful project.

Where are we today ?

We would like to welcome aboard, as follower number 98 "Billy Bob", click here to check out his funny, entertaining blog.
Below is the comment he made yesterday.
"Yeee Haw.....the old Billy Bob is here. I might be slow, but I do finally git to where I was go'n. Sorry it took me so long to "follow" your wonderful blog. I'm think'n I'm gonna like it here."

So today we are just gonna have cool, cloudy and rainy weather. I don't mind these days too much cause I can do other stuff. Walkabouts and all those things. I found the Canada Geese up by the pond this morning with their baby chicks just kinda hanging out in the pond.
remember the nesting a month ago?
The Goose family is doing just fine here
Now today was a rainy, kinda yucky day, but I have a project in mind. Yesterday after moving the garden shed Joe gave me a peace of aluminum that I has a use for. Need to make myself a wind screen for our Weber Q-100. So borrowed a few tools, cut the sheet, formed what I wanted. Then installed a couple hinges so that it folds flat and a couple supports to hold things together. So easy, and with the free sheeting put everything together for about seven dollars total.
wind screen done
ready to cook soon
Now chores done got to read outside for a bit, under our awning with the heavy rain coming down.
yep its raining
Now to try out the wind shield, Fire up our Weber Q, add an Acorn Squash with butter and brown sugar, potatoes in foil with onions, and grill a 1/2 chicken.
got a deal on the squash
our Weber at work., low and slow
chicken, taters, squash and cauliflower with cheese
awesome supper.
Then after supper Jordan dropped by walking three dogs to say hi. Yep she had her hands full, for sure.
Short while later Mike and Trish dropped in for a visit, then time for us to call it a night.
But a small treat tonight, Suzie craving a tiny peace of cheesecake with some fresh raspberries.
thats it we done.
Supper done, day is done, me is done.
Gotta go now, past my bedtime.
Good night, thanks for stopping in see ya'll tomorrow!

Helping friends move and enjoying great weather!

Where are we today ?

Another awesome day, the weather is getting better by the minute. Early morning frost then as the sun came up getting very warm. Yep lovin this weather.
We have a few projects that I can volunteer for today. Joe is disposing of his old metal garden shed and we are moving  a nice new "park friendly"  shed to Joe and Nancy's site.
old shed going to the dump
While waiting I helped Wayne for bit rebuilding some picnic tables, watched Ron repainting the wagon for the "Wagon rides".,every body keeping busy here.
Now we are at the site to move this garden shed. Lotsa help here, its a big one 10 ft by 12 ft.
raise on a few blocks with the tractor
slide on the trailer
Now Joe has a wonderful new travel traile, red neck style!
Now at Joe and Nancy's place, just slide it off the trailer and level into place.
looking good, now Joe has his "MAN CAVE"!
Now we back home to enjoy an awesome afternoon. Watching the birds on the roof of the cabin and enjoying our books in the shade, just lovin it!
bird nest in the cabin roof
Now again my favorite time of the day. Fire up our Weber Q to grill a couple cedar planked salmon we picked up the other day. Tried these in Texas and found them again here at a a grocery store the other day.
To the grill I added a jalapeño pepper for me, a couple fresh tomatoes topped with bacon and cheese, whipped up a rice pilaf and some cauliflower with cheese sauce for a very tatsy supper.
again hit the spot, made Suzie happy.
That's it for today fun for us and glad you could drop by for a peak.
