About 10 am we hopped in the car and headed out to Strathroy Ontario where Suzie had booked some tests quite a while ago. And her mother was coming home from the hospital today too! We should have been in the Strathroy area by now but plans kinda got changed. The appointment was for 2:30 pm so that ties up most of the day. It is about 2 hour dive each way on the scenic back roads anyway, so we thought let's just make it a fun daytrip. Not real bright and sunny but quite hot and no rain, good enough for us.
today's circle tour 265 kms (165 miles) total
We decided to stop by Ontario's West coast, in particular Grand Bend. A touristy place that I used to hang out at about 40 years ago with all to those young slim guys and young ladies in tiny bikinis. Being a Monday it would not be too busy with young people which just suits us fine, all those young people make us feel that much older. So just cruised down the main drag and stopped at the Growling Gator restaurant overlooking the beach and a slightly overcast very warm day. Just a perfect spot to enjoy a nice lunch and the lake breezes. And those young people look so young and tiny bikinis look so much tinier, yep I think they are!

nice view for lunch
Tuna wrap for Suzie
haddock and chips for me
nice cars cruising by
perfect beach day
From here we headed south down the coast aways then thru Forrest into Strathroy where I dropped Suzie off at the hospital. Then I fuelled up the car and stopped at my favourite store (Canadian Tire) for a few items, picked Suzie back up then head back home to New Hamburg.
She wanted to help her mom get settled in and organize things with all her medications and schedule an exercise routine to help with her long recovery process. While she was doing that I whipped up supper, a boneless chicken breast casserole with rice and veggies.

We hung out here until shortly after 8 o'clock, everybody settled, then back to our house and put our feet up. Let see what tomorrow brings.
Glad you could join our country drive with us today. Hope your day was enjoyable too.
Check out the map below to see where we have been this summer
Sure glad to hear Suzie's mom is home. It's amazing even when we go back to where home used to be we really can't go back. Now that especially applies to checking out those young chicks in tiny bikinis. It might have something to do with the passing of all those years.
Nice to hear about Suzie's Mom getting home. Enjoyed the pictures and the information about Grand Bend. Looks like something for our bucket list of places to visit.
So nice of you and Suzie to get a time alone break. As for her Mom, she will be weak and need help. Does Ontario have Home Care that comes in a few times per day?
Of all the times I've gone to Grand Bend, I've never gone to well,... Grand Bend. I've never gone past the drag strip. Sad to say. Had a grand time though. Might have to try getting to the beach one day. Getting just a wee bit too old however.

ReplyDeleteHome health care is available, but not free. The family is close and her husband is there to help her as well.

Nice to see Suzie's Mom is back home.
Can always just walk down the street and along the boardwalk at the beach on a nice day.
