Up at my usual 5:30 this morning and felt kinda chilly. Hmm checked the outside temperature 48F so our Blue Flame fired up and quickly warmed us up inside. Glad we hooked it up last week, sips at propane and totally silent.
By 7:30 it had warmed up nicely so headed out for a nice quiet walkabout town for my first 2 miles of the day. Now just because we can enjoyed reading outside in the wonderful morning sunshine reading for a while.
Then atenoon we drove over to Bright a couple of miles from here to partake in the Car show and BBQ in Jacob's Memory. He died last week in a single car crash a young 23 years old. He worked as a machinist with this father at Engine Technology Racing Engines in Cambridge Ontario. His Chevelle apparently developed over 800 horsepower. Did not know him but his girl friend Rachelle is the daughter of a fellow worker/supervisor from Egar Tool and Die (my last Job) and lives right next to where we park here at Camp Awesome in Plattsville.  I did not know until today that it was his car we heard leaving their place most nights when we were camped here. He was also a volunteer fire-fighter with the Bright Fire department for 4 years.
this route about 52 miles with about 200 cars
This is a Tribute video of His legendary burnouts if you care to view it
Click HERE  the truck after his car I believe is his father's.

We arrived at the park in Bright and waited for the cars to arrive, apparently over 200 and took quite a while to pass the park and pull in and park.
 some very nice looking vehicles

     Long lineups looking both ways.
A few even gave us some very smokey burnouts right here waiting in line.

Circles on the lawn and another great summer day.

Where are we today ?

Last night stayed outside until about 7:30 then the mosquitoes appeared , time to head inside. First time this year. So no real complaints.
Up nice and early as usual, got the garbage out to the road by 7 am they shortly after that I headed out for a walkabout town, Different route today and chatted with a few friends along the way. Passed by buddy Marc's house and he was digging his garden in the front yard. He stopped for a while, we chatted and enjoyed a coffee together in the sunshine by the pool in their backyard.
Time to head home and passed Debbie walking around town as well have not seen her for  awhile she used to work with me in my restaurant back in the early 90's . Nice to catch up and chat with her as well. Finally back home by 9:30 just over 2 miles walked in 90 minutes, lol...
Soon we enjoyed a nice light lunch then I went to the Thrift store in New Hamburg to donate some clothing from Suzie, and stopped by the Sobeys store to check for more of the crackers we like, I picked up another 12 boxes total 31, about another 10 or so and we will be set for the winter.
got out of my car at the Thrift store and this right beside the car
gave me a startled
, looks pretty real doesn't it ?
Back home on a another perfect comfortable warm sunny day about 75 F . Seeing as we are leaving here Monday I wanted to mow the lawns one more time. So today I spent and hour at the far end of the yard an acre or so. This one I can do the edges and then the circles I enjoy, that was all done in less than and hour, perfect, enough for today, Tomorrow I plan the middle of the yard and Sunday around the house and pool.
mowing is circles is quicker and more fun
Now to enjoy our page turners outside in the shade on a wonderful quiet summer day. And a Happy hour before whipping up supper.
12 more boxes picked up today
almost enough for the winter down south
Tonight going to grill a couple of thin bone in pork chops, So quick and easy. The trick with these thin chops  is grill only one side 3-4 minutes don't turn over and they will be tasty, juicy, tender and not overdone. To add to that I  made some grilled Balsamic Mushrooms , for the recipe you can click HERE  or my recipe blog top right sidebar. Also our usual yummy salad hit the spot tonight.
chops and mushrooms done in less than 4 minutes
we really enjoyed these mushrooms
a nice treat
 a very tasty supper
Now to relax outside after this posting and more page turners enjoyed on our e-readers.
Last night about 7:30 I hopped in the car and down the road to see if I could catch a bit of a sunset and this below was it for the night.
last nights sunset
Then watching Tv was the perfect time to share this piece of Elderberry pie we brought home from Anna Mae's On Wednesday.
Oh My this was awesome
Glad that your came by for a visit and hope you enjoyed a wonderful day as well.

A very relaxing day we both enjoyed not doing much.

Where are we today ?

Up and raring to go at 5:30 this morning  had my oatmeal and a bit of stretching exercise, computing and stuff, Then headed on out for a nice walkabout town, 2 miles in this morning, Chatted with some friends I have not seen for a few years Maggie and Bill, have known for close to 40 years here in town always nice to see them and catch up. Stopped at Pettigrews, checked our Lottery ticket won 2 bucks so reinvested it and back home, Soon to enjoy a light tasty lunch.
sunrise incoming this morning
there was a large noisy crow in that tree with no leaves,
when I took the picture he was gone
Then another trip to New Hamburg Beer and Liquor store to stock up before the long weekend and crowds storming these and the Grocery stores. Then to the Home hardware in Plattsville to pick our garbage bag tag for pickup tomorrow. Chatted with them there about another expansion, They are opening and LCBO outlet there, and will be selling Beer, wine and alcohol in the near future. Great news for our small town. I am sure it will generate even more regular business there.
River road to New Hamburg
Now to relax enjoying (after a busy day yesterday) this wonderful afternoon late summer weather a perfect 75F with clear blue sunny skies and a slight breeze, enjoying our e-readers I started another good book by Robert Crais with Elvis Cole and Joe Pike always enjoy their adventures.
love our quiet views here
another wonderful exciting read
Soon it was time to whip up  supper. Tonight going to pan fry a couple of cod fish fillets on our Weber Q. The trick is a heavy pan (cast iron ) heated then add a couple of tablespoons of oil, and with a light breading of Flour or Fish crisp, we like 2-3 minutes a side, it will release from the pan nicely browned and turn over until the other side is browned, drain on paper towels and serve immediately. We added to our salad and candied carrots then enjoyed a very tasty meal.
this turned out wonderful
I bought some carrots the other day 3 lb bag was the smallest so decided to made some candied carrots, I don't like cooked carrots but really like them done this way and have not done for a very long time. I sliced up a large carrot and boiled until tender, drain them then some melted butter, brown sugar melted in the same pot, stirred them until nicely coated nicely glazed then served. Oh my are they ever tasty!
a very tasty supper we enjoyed
last night after dark this rabbit was sitting there
no too a good picture at all
though interesting
That was our relaxing summer day, chatting, reading, enjoying the scenery and a tasty supper. Don't think it gets much better than this.
       Thanks for joining us today.

clic a pic to enlarge it
After my Chiropractor adjustment yesterday I felt so good no more back and hip pain, Got a very good sleep last night and raring to go this morning. Started with some exercises, coffee and oatmeal, computing enjoyed a nice sunrise. Then a pain free walkabout town 1.5 miles a great way to get going.
I was going to run  a few errands then a message on our phones at 9 am Suzie had her Chiropractor appointment at 9:45. Oops she thought it was tomorrow. So a quick change she hopped in the car and headed into Waterloo. I enjoyed another short walkabout and read out side in the wonderful warming sunshine about 78F perfect.
She was back home for lunch and relax a bit then about 12:30 we headed to Durham Ontario for a visitation for our Good Friends Rob and Pat's Aunt Mary who passed away the other day. She was in her 93rd year and failing. Such a sweet lady she was,  we met her only once at her husbands funeral Uncle Charlie 2 and 1/2 years years ago. So sorry for their loss and condolences to the family. RIP Aunt Mary. We did get to Chat with Rob and Pat for a bit as well as their son Trace and his spouse. Also a couple of other people there as well.
relaxing here a bit this morning
Headed out enjoying this nice country drive on scenic back roads. Not much traffic except...
Check out the next 7 pictures, this is Amish/Mennonite country, we have travelled for years and see the odd horse and buggy but never this many in one day ! Especially on a Wednesday afternoon. All different styles of buggies from small to very large.

a 90 minute drive each way
When we left Durham  headed home and our route took us right through Millbank Ontario right past Anna Mae's and was soon time for supper, seeing we were right there we could not resist plus the car was turning into the parking lot all by itself. Ok we gave in and had to enjoy a another tasty feed of their famous Broasted chicken that we love. They do have the great home cooked meals as well, the other specials today were pork ribs or a roast beef dinner. Heck we can do that at home the chicken is a treat.
not too busy yet on a Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm
no wait we were seated right away , of course you
have to walk past the bakery and a gifts first.
we shared a tasty caesar salad to start
I got 3 pics white meat,  fries sauerkraut
and a cheese bun right out of the oven
Suzie 3 pieces, scalloped potatoes,
coleslaw and a white bun she brought one piece home
Now she does love her desert and today her favourite Elderberry pie, take that home for later.
we took this home yummy
love this buggy table right behind us
was occupied when we came in
After full tummies and another craving taken care of after a busy day we headed the rest of the way home to camp awesome arriving at 5:45 pm .
