After yesterday's rain the temperatures have cooled down a bit And we enjoyed a good night's sleep. Much cooler today high about 74F with a cool breeze, much cooler in the shade. Feels like our winter temperatures in the south west desert. With clear blue cloudless skies.I headed out for a nice walkabout the campground and up the hill out to the road and back almost 2 miles.
past the ponds these lily pads are even getting bigger wanting to take over the west pond |
the washouts on the hill from last nights rain |
looking back down to the campground |
heading back to our site |
the mini golf looks wonderful |
passed this huge field of sunflowers such a beautiful sight to see |
wind turbines everywhere around here close to Lake Huron |
so pretty to see |
this is legal now in Canada everyone wants to cash in |
what a perfect afternoon relaxing |
Supper time tonight we will enjoy some smelts I picked up the other day at Food Basics in Strahroy. We have not had these for a few years.
8 smelts each just enough for a meal love these |
a light breading with this fish crisp we enjoy |
not long in our Fry Daddy about 3-4 minutes slightly over done but still tasty |
added to our salad we did enjoy these smelts |
It was a really enjoyable relaxing day with this still decent summer weather.
Want to thank y'all for dropping in and always hope you enjoyed your day as mush as we did.

Nice to know you can cook things without the Weber Q. You're a man of many talents! ;c)
ReplyDeleteSometimes we need to cook different ways and enjoy all this tasty food.
DeleteSun Flowers! we don't see fields of them like that. Pretty cool. We used smelt for bait, ot dinner :) But it looks pretty good. Do you use a batter?
ReplyDeleteThe Sun flower fields are amazing to see. When I come across them.
DeleteI use a light breading for most of our fish this worked well for the smelts as well
Such pretty sunflowers. Do they sell them just in Canada or export some out?
ReplyDeleteI have often wanted to ask you does the campground remain open during the winter months? Does the area receive a lot of snow during the winter?
The sunflowers are harvested for sun flower seeds you v=can buy in the stores, Not sure where they go.
DeleteThis campground is open year round but no water from mid October until May 1st. too cold.
Lotsa snow in this area possibly 2-3 at times, and very cold. The do have cabins with water to rent though if we wanted.
Thanks for your reply George...I have an inquiring mind :)
DeleteNo problem anytime.
DeleteWw have lotsa cucumbers lunch salads and sharing with friends as well. Do love the sunflower fields when we can find them.
ReplyDeleteCannabis has always been around and will continue to be. Our funds are doing very well we have ni need to change things at this point in time. Never know about those investments maybe a bit would make you rich!

Great pictures of the sunflower fields. We drove out of our way in Kansas one year to see some sunflower fields but we were to late and they were done blooming.
ReplyDeleteThank you , it was so nice to see the fields, first one I have seen this year
DeleteI have never seen a sunflower field like that before, really pretty to see.
ReplyDeleteI don't see them often, they are really pretty.
DeleteLove the sunflower fields...I remember them being over 6 foot tall and now everywhere they seem to bloom at 3 foot or so..progress I guess..give me the old fashioned ones! They are beautiful though..like they're always happy...kind of like you George! :) How nice to get the fresh veggies! Nothing tastes better!
ReplyDeleteI remember them very tall as well liked them better.
DeleteThe fresh veggies are wonderful.
Medicine of the earth ... LOL. Yeah, they are everywhere.
ReplyDeleteSmelt? I don't think I'll be making THAT recipe. It's halibut for me!!
Yes they are everywhere. These smelts were not the best we have had still prefer perch or pickerel.
DeleteI'm looking forward to saying it's cooler here - I love fried fish.
ReplyDeleteThese smelts were ok nit the best fish we have had though.
DeleteLove the Sunflowers, of course!
ReplyDeleteThe cukes look delicious and my Dad used cook up smelt all the time. I loved them.
Yes I knew you would like the sunflowers, they are so pretty.
Deletewe used to eat the smelts to at our cottage in the spring when they were running so tasty.
I love sunflowers. They are the state flower for Kansas, so they are extra special to me. I recently found a list of some around the state and we are going to visit a couple of them soon.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful to see, enjoy you tour before they are done.
