A sunny Saturday, Memorial cruise car show, BBQ then lawn mowing.

Where are we today ?

Up at my usual 5:30 this morning and felt kinda chilly. Hmm checked the outside temperature 48F so our Blue Flame fired up and quickly warmed us up inside. Glad we hooked it up last week, sips at propane and totally silent.
By 7:30 it had warmed up nicely so headed out for a nice quiet walkabout town for my first 2 miles of the day. Now just because we can enjoyed reading outside in the wonderful morning sunshine reading for a while.
Then atenoon we drove over to Bright a couple of miles from here to partake in the Car show and BBQ in Jacob's Memory. He died last week in a single car crash a young 23 years old. He worked as a machinist with this father at Engine Technology Racing Engines in Cambridge Ontario. His Chevelle apparently developed over 800 horsepower. Did not know him but his girl friend Rachelle is the daughter of a fellow worker/supervisor from Egar Tool and Die (my last Job) and lives right next to where we park here at Camp Awesome in Plattsville.  I did not know until today that it was his car we heard leaving their place most nights when we were camped here. He was also a volunteer fire-fighter with the Bright Fire department for 4 years.
this route about 52 miles with about 200 cars
This is a Tribute video of His legendary burnouts if you care to view it
Click HERE  the truck after his car I believe is his father's.

We arrived at the park in Bright and waited for the cars to arrive, apparently over 200 and took quite a while to pass the park and pull in and park.
 some very nice looking vehicles
about 40 minutes driving by and parking
     Long lineups looking both ways.
A few even gave us some very smokey burnouts right here waiting in line.

We came to enjoy lunch as well put on by the firefighters Hamburgers and Sausage we were a couple of the first in line. Sausage or burger and drink 5 bucks, fund raiser for the fire department .

A soup day, good friend visits and circles in the lawns here

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Early to bed last night at 9 pm and had a wonderful sleep, with our windows open. But then I got up at 5:30 this morning was only 54F inside. So fired up our blue flame heater and quietly warmed us up in no time. We do really like this heater and uses so very little propane as well.
our fireplace
nice country drive to New Hamburg
Then I put the chicken bones from last night on to make a broth for soup. Hopped in the car stopped at Pettigrews to make an appointment with Dale for our car tomorrow, Then a quick trip to New Hamburg for some veggies for the soup and more gas for the mower here.
Love the round bales in the fields right behind us
Back home before 9 am , finished adding to the soup and hopped on the mower to mow the front of the yard around our coach and pool, before lunch. I was almost done here and a very good friend and former employer Marc dropped by for a visit. So nice to see him again, it has been a while and they only live around the corner. Suzie had gone for mail, and picked up our 2 new tires at her Brothers, came back home and we chatted with Marc for almost 3 hours, so nice to see him again, catching up and in no rush to go anywhere.
He headed home about 12:30 , we enjoyed some chicken noodle stoup for lunch, I forgot about it on the stove so it boiled down almost to a stew so stoup.
tasty stoup we enjoyed for lunch
Then I about 1:30 I hopped back on the mower to finish the rest of the 5 acres mowing the lawn here. 2 of the larger areas I did circles starting in the middle, round and round right out to the edges, I timed it and much quicker, probably cut 20 minutes off the time it normally takes. I always have fun on this heavy duty Ferris mower. Done just after 3 pm right in time for a quiet happy hour. Temperatures today were in the high 70's F and mostly sunny but a cool breeze. quite comfortable.
this is a fun mower to ride,
zero turn and fast
the last field round and round nice large circles
our afternoon view freshly mowed yard
love the smell
from the last field, cannot see our coach or
house from here a beautiful sunny day
Soon time for supper tonight a Turkey Burger for Suzie and a chorizo burger for me perfect for a nice light meal.
english muffins in foil to warm up
my tasty Chorizo burger I made from the Butcher
at Olsons in WHY Arizona
only 1 left , I use these sparingly
Now that sure was a nice  relaxing day getting things done, lawn all mowed and a very nice visit with a good friend. Nice to get that taken care of supposed to rain tomorrow and have a few other things to take care of as well.
Thanks for taking a peek and hope y'all had great day as well.

Supposed to be very hot , but not so much just enjoying this day

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Up and raring to go at 5:30 this morning after a very good sleep. Start off with oatmeal orange juice and coffees, Then seeing as it will be very hot day I was outside at 7:00 am take the garbage out to the curb for 7 am and making use of the tree branch trimming tools I borrowed from neighbour Barry. So many trees, bushes branches etc. that grow here, some in the way of the motorhome and lots more in my way mowing the lawns here.
Nice to have the long pole trimmer to get some of the higher branches from the ground. Then a walk around  this 5 acres trimming most of the branches that are in my way or attack me. By 9 am I hopped on the mower and finished the last bit of yard around the house and the RV. That all taken care of before 10 am and it was hot already 89F feeling like 104 and getting hotter. With this all done I was ready for my first swim of the day , maybe more if we don't get the predicted thunderstorms.
I use to have these trimmers when we had the house
but figured we would need them anymore
trimmed these trees in the lane
much better now
and then down around the property for a while as well
Suzie had taken her Dad for another doctors appointment at 9 am and got back home by 11:30  so we enjoyed a nice light tasty lunch.  Then I went to New Hamburg to get more gas for the mower some groceries and stopped at  Steve Belk Jewellers and watch maker in New Hamburg to pick up my gold chain that he repaired for me. I have known Steve for probably 30 years always came into my restaurant for Fish and chips that they loved. He still wants me to open another restaurant , But that is not going to happen, been there done that and had a lot of fun. Burned myself out back then.
have been going here for years he treats us right
forecast is this but did not happen
not that hot at all
While I was gone we had a very heavy downpour of rain and the temperature dropped, big time. 3 pm only 75F though they say it feels like 100F ?? No it does not, quite very comfortable here still.
I got home to make the salad for maybe supper tonight if too hot. Chicken Balsamic Salad for that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right side bar.
we really do enjoy this salad on a hot day
but not today it will be better tomorrow
the yard looks wonderful once again
While in New Hamburg I picked up some chicken for a very good price. In case we wanted to grill some tonight.
Back home Suzie and I enjoyed a very nice afternoon in the shade chatting and reading, then at 4 pm it was decided another swim in the pool, just because we can. Oh my this feels so good.
8 drumbsticks
8 chicken thighs
I split these into 2 meals cooked one tonight and the rest in our freezer for another meal.
not long on our Weber Q about 45 minutes turning half way through
done to perfection
added to our usual salad sure did the trick
Supper was wonderful and we even had some leftovers for lunches or whatever.
Now we can enjoy more of this nice warm summer weather outside. Finish this posting and right back into our our page turners again. We sure are enjoying this summer weather so quiet and peaceful here.  Hope you are enjoying this weather as well.
Last night I took drive down the road a few hundred yards and managed to catch another interesting country sunset.
 a decent sunset once again
Now listening to the birds, and mourning doves,  watching the squirrels, and bunnies Nothing quite like this quiet peaceful country living.
Thanks for taking the time to drop on by.
