Where are we today?

Another wonderful summer like day. Is this what they call "Indian Summer" ? It actually got up to 86f (30c) this afternoon, this is my kinda weather. No aches or pains, shorts, t shirts, yup this works for me.After the early walkabout town I heated up our oven to cook a 12 lb. Turkey that I am getting ready for our Canadian Thanksgiving with my family this Sunday.
Love that the fall colors are arriving, a bit at a time.
Turkey done by noon. I like to cook it breast side down, so that it does not dry out. No basting needed. I let it rest for for a while and cool down a bit then set in the fridge overnight. In the morning I will carve it up and back in the fridge, ready for our get- together.

Now another novel I started by Linwood Barclay, Never look away.
Supper tonight Suzie wanted to sample the Turkey that was cooking all morning. So we stole a few pieces, added a salad, and some cranberry/orange sauce I had in the freezer to go with our salad.
yup the turkey is good |
Thanks for taking the time again to stop by and hope you enjoyed some wonder fall weather as well.
Where we have been this summer
I assume soup tomorrow? I think you should add a caveat to you recipes pages, "These recipes will ruin restaurant food for you forever." My wife and I went out to a seafood place the other night, after we ate, she told me that I make better fish with the methods from your pages. Thanks for all the cooking tips!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roger glad you enjoy my recipes, I like to keep them tasty and easy. Instead of spending your money on restaurant food spend it on good food and wine for at home and enjoy the pleasures of cooking.
DeleteNo soup yet I will freeze the carcass and make it next week.
Well as I recommended Seveneves I guess I better read Linwood Barclay. I'm reading an uninspiring and annoying chicklit at the moment. The main character is not as intelligent as the characters in Seveneves.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation of Seveneves, Anna I enjoyed the science fiction fantasy, best I have read in years. We have a lot of books on file that we enjoy, most are interesting action packed reads.
DeleteSurprised you didn't cook the Turkey on the Weber. Was it too big?
ReplyDeleteI could have done it on the Weber but wanted to save the drippings for gravy and could not fit a pan on the Weber.
DeleteNice looking Thanksgiving bird. Enjoy the nice weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks we are enjoying it while we can.
DeleteIt sounds like Happy Thanksgiving is in order. Can't imagine a Thanksgiving dinner without turkey!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend for us Canadians, and just gotta have Turkey.
DeleteWe can do it again in November when we are down south.
A great looking bird. I would not have been able to resist taking a few slices for dinner either. First autumn storm of the season here and most of the lower mainland is without power... Enjoy the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying the sunshine, love it.
DeleteThe turkey was wonderful.
You have my mouth watering. That turkey looks so yummmmmy!
ReplyDeleteIt was tasty and we can finish it up on Sunday, love turkey.
