Where are we today?

Not so cold last night and had a great sleep. The usual up early and a nice quiet walkabout town. Home by 8:30 and George from
M&G portables came by to pump out our sewage. 20 Bucks and we are good to go until he comes next week just before we leave. We have known George for quite a few years and he apparently reads our blog every day. He made a comment when he arrived that I do like my Canadian Tire money (yesterdays's Posting).

its a shitty job but somebodies gotta do it ! |
After he left we headed in to Waterloo, first stop the 'Apple Store" get them to check out my Mac Book pro. DVD is stuck in the drive. All I wanted was for then to stop the drive from trying to read the disc and I could not do it as much as I tried. 30 minutes later all fixed up and I am happy, once again Apple came through and fixed me up "no charge" thank you Apple.

Apple store is always busy not far from the Waterloo Universities |
Next stop just down the road to the
"Wholesale Club" to pick up our winter supply of coffee that we love. I have been shopping here for 30 years great supplies for my restaurant. And have always loved the coffee.
|
this the place |
We are in Mennonite country here and they even shop here too. There is parking for their horse and buggies.

horse and buggy parking |
From here a visit with our financial advisor to update or portfolio, making sure he is making us enough money to live on, And he is actually doing a pretty good job. He is mostly making as much or more than we are spending and thats a good thing. Don't want to run outta money now!
Our coffee supply for the winter. Enough for 190 pots of coffee. 5 boxes I was able to condense to 3 for storage.

gotta have good coffee |
We got home for lunch and just puttered around for a while. It was still a cool cloudy day so took our Turkey bones out of the freezer and boiled them down to make a wonderful broth for some Turkey soup I will finish up tomorrow.
Then for supper a spaghetti squash done in the Microwave about 10-12 minutes

gluten free, and carb free spaghetti |
Then heated up my homemade Marinara sauce with ground turkey, that I had in the freezer, warmed up a kaiser bun we had and split (gluten), then enjoyed a wonderful feast. Again more leftovers for lunch.
|
love spaghetti squash |
After supper at 7 pm headed up to the arena in town to watch grandson number 4 for his hockey practice, he gets better every year.
|
doing his stuff |
It was wonderful to see him on the ice once again doing what he really loves, playing hockey. And he is really good at it too.
Then home for the night, get warmed up after the cold arena, relax for a while and call it another great day!
Once again thanks for stopping by.
On the road less than a week now!
Where we have been this summer
You must have a good sized freezer in your rig. Is it the freezer from the fridge or do you carry another small freezer in your basement?
ReplyDeleteWe just have the freezer in our coach, regular Dometic fridge, but is well packed, I repackage everything to make room for whatever we need.
DeleteWe are basically dry camping so a basement freezer is not an option.
Spaghetti quash is my favorite vegetable. But I can't get it in the local store. Seems like the locals don't know what to do with it and therefore are not buying it.
ReplyDeleteWe love spaghetti squash too. This is farm country here so usually pick them up at the local orchard when in Arkona. But all the grocery stores carry them around here, only $1.00 each at the local farmers.
DeleteWish I'd had some spaghetti squash last night for supper but I had to use the real pasta. Bill likes it better anyway but I'd rather the gluten free myself.
ReplyDeleteWe much prefer the spaghetti squash too, not as heavy and less carbs as well.
DeleteYou're right, ya "gotta have good coffee!" Can't believe you'll be headed out so soon; looking forward to your winter reports.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to get outta here, travel and see some sights, 175 days is the plan.
DeleteLooks like 5 days and you are out of there.
ReplyDeleteYes , yes,, chomping at the bit...
DeleteAre you SURE you have enough coffee? There are twelve step programs out there for folks like you... :cD
ReplyDeleteGotta have our caffeine , think we can handle it, will take us into next summer probably too.
DeleteAlways lots to do for a six months trip, especially in another country. You must really like that coffee :-)
ReplyDeleteFirst year south we ran out and could not find one we liked, so this will take care of it.
DeleteWe do enjoy this coffee and individual packages keep it fresh.
I misread your header... wondered why your financial adviser was making soup... Glad he's doing a good job.. not easy these days. That squash looks so good!
ReplyDeleteHe has been doing a pretty job for us over 25 years now,
DeleteThe spaghetti squash was yummy !
I guess I must try spaghetti squash someday...
ReplyDeleteIt is worth a try, we really enjoy it when it is reasonable priced.
DeleteNice to be able to live off your investments especially with the current economy.
ReplyDeleteWe have to be frugal but so far doing pretty good.
ReplyDeleteOh my! That's a lot of coffee to carry with you.
ReplyDelete5 boxes condensed to 3 and it is not very heavy.
