A nice sunny Saturday.

Thanks for joining us on our journey of North America
in our Holiday Rambler, since August 2006
Where are we today ?

A nice sunny morning to start and a trip into Plattsville, stop by the garage, chat with a few people for a bit and was entertained by Jake, the resident guard dog. He wandered in thru the front door a few years ago, origin unknown, and has been here ever since. Couldn't find a much nicer pet.
any cookies?
you take my picture?
Now we decided today to check with mom and see if she wants to go for lunch. Sure, no problem in a heartbeat, my treat she says. Ok Ma, pick you up in half hour where to? Well we all enjoy Anna Mae's Bakery and Restaurant in Millbank Ontario. They specialize in home made Mennonite cooking. Well our favourite here is their Broasted Chicken, made fresh to order, with potatoes, veggies and fresh baked rolls, very reasonable too! Of course all the home baked deserts too if you have room.
sharing the roads here along the way
We got here at 11:30 on a Saturday morning and no line up yet, so were seated right away . Service was great, the food excellent as always. About an hour later we left with full tummies and there was a huge lineup waiting for tables, they seat 175 people, that is also the population of this small village. You just know it is not the village people that fill this place everyday.
so tasty
Now after lunch we took another nice country ride back to Waterloo and took Ma home. Then we carried on to do some shopping, a few stores here and there, then the St. Jacobs Farmer's Market always nice for a long walkabout checking out the goods and people watching too. It was now after 2 pm and the market closes about 3 so there was some deals happening here and there.

But like any other market, check you prices, usually you will find somebody with a better deal.
a nice sunny day
I heard a loud WOOF and what did we see? ( minature horse?)

Tomatoes $1.00 a basket
lots fresh corn

chuck wagon for fries
Buskers entertaining (note the suitcase for a drum)
fresh flowers?
Maple Syrup ?
Lunch anyone?
lots fresh veggies
Fresh meats, cheeses, baked goods its all here
Now as we had walked all the vendors, inside and out, we were heading back to our car and the deals were now really happening But we just picked up one deal 5 pounds of fresh asparagus for $5.00, earlier it was 3 lbs for $5.00 a good deal, this was even better. Of course we will share our good luck with a few other people.

Back home we chattted with Sandy for a bit, Omer came in for some attention, yep he's a suck.
Then the neighbor lady dropped by with her dog Bengi to play with Omer.
Yesterday when I was playing with the lawn tractor Suzie found a sunny spot on the mat and got to work on Omer's winter coat with her brushes. Then the big job, his sensitive tail that just manages to collect all these burrs from the bush and creek.
look at Omer's tail now
Now before we know it, our great sunny day is ending, no supper tonight,  a few peanuts and relax, thanks for the great lunch Ma!

  2. Great prices on some of those items at the market. When we're in areas we're familiar with we always know where to go for the deals. That's not necessarily so in other places.

    1. Yes its a huge market less busy at this time of year, so some excellent deals on produce at the end of the day.

  3. Been a fair few years since we have been to Anna Maes in Millbank. When we lived on the old farm between Stratford & St. Marys we used to like heading up there for their great food. That was back when the original Anna Mae owned it. Been even longer since I have been up to the St. Jacob's Market. When I lived in Kitchener years ago I liked going up to the market & all the shops & crafty places. I think the last time I was there was in about 1994 & I bought a pair of cowboy boots.

    1. We have only been going to Anne Mae's for a few years, but the Market I have been going to a few times a year since the early 70's when I lived in Waterloo, it was right close.

    1. The Market is a nice place to visit for an outing not usually any screaming deals but fun nonetheless. Anna Mae's Is a great place to eat.

  5. Oh, do I ever like Jake. He is so cute but so is Omer.

I think we are going to have heartattacks when we get back to Canada. The prices I saw on those veggies is incredible. I think we are really spoiled here in Mexico.
