St.Jacobs Market, hot sunny day, and hockey practice we get to enjoy it all. And a live band that we can enjoy tonight.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another great night for sleeping with the bedroom windows open and fantastic fan bringing in cool night air. Up early for coffees and watch the sunrise after a short walk down the road.
love the back roads here
Then at 8:30 we headed out to The St, Jacobs Farmer's Market. With perfect weather for today, we want to arrive early, check things out and get out of there before it gets too crowded and too hot to wander about the crowds. And we did that !
Lots of amazing fresh veggies and fruit and some real good deals to be had if your are in the market, but giving our lifestyle and soon heading across the border not a lot that we can stock up on anymore.
this is one amazing market to explore
just after 9 am pretty busy already
look at the size of those HUGE cabbage!
need fresh  flowers?
They have it all here and some really good prices  as well.
local strawberries
local raspberries and blueberries
fresh kettle corn and bouncy castle for the kids
Now we did find our Peppertte guy here today, and picked up couple of bags  of my extra hot , He does the market here and the one in Grand Bend, In my opinion he has the best pepperttes that I have ever had,
These are wonderful , extra hot for me and he actually gave me another sample of suicide that are amazing as well. Extremely hot!
inside to pick a couple of lbs of their amazing turkey garlic sausage,
take us through most of the winter
we bought a couple of smoked pork chops here good price
Then wander about outside for a while check out a few more vendors and buskers to see what we might need.

this guy  was pretty good
perfect day to sit outside here
this young busker was pretty good with his tricks too
Then stopped by the Mennonite lady the sells this mini pies , perfect for us and she has some Elderberry pies. Suzie's favourite , so we got one good for at least 2 snacks.
Of course they had homemade large pies and bread but not on our menu, Excellent prices as well.
Then we found or favourite hat vendor and Suzie replaced her hat,(5 years old now) with another one just the same, that she loves.

her new hat, old one gone away
We were gonna get a Pemaeal bacon on a bun from on vendor but now $5.75 for one. Nope not for that price sorry. So we picked up Pemeal enough for 2 sandwiches for only 3 bucks, we will go home and make our own, thank you very much.
4 slices of this only 3  bucks works for  us
stopped here and  got 2 smoked  pork chops $6.99 a lb other vendors $8.99 an lb,
gotta watch you prices here

want a horse down wagon tour?  right here
Now we finally left here about 10:30 as the crowds were  really beginning. we saw what we wanted and bought what we wanted, Heading back home a quick stop at Walmart and noticed these amazing light fixtures right in front of the Walmart store.  Check out the picture below.
umbrella light fixtures, these are awesome Mary Poppims?
Back home by 11 am and whip up our  Pemeal  back bacon  and egg sandwich on an English muffin.
our Canadian Pemeal Bacon
tasty lunch with 1/2 an apple, banna and an egg as well.
Now at noon down to the arena too watch Grandson number 4  for his hockey practice. He is doing very well and they got a good work out for an hour.
he shoots, he scores
I did get lotsa pics but most blurry because he moves so fast.

a tangle  with the goally but he did score
Back home I can relax in the shade and Suzie go visit her Dad for a bit in New Hamburg . I enjoyed relaxing in the shade but did notice it was getting quite warm, Check the temp below 98.6 F (37 c) to that inside our coach. So at 3 pm I disconnected our power fired up our on board genny and turned on both of our AC's soon down to 74 F inside  and can turn of the genny.
yup its was warm, but we outside in the shade
pretty nice here
Suzie back home from her Dads and we enjoyed our e-readers in the shade on this amazing hot fall  day.
For supper tonight some Chicken Parmesan Alfredo for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. I did modify it a bit , but that is what I do,. Tonight on the Weber Q on our grill mat . and worked wonderful .
Added to our salad sure hit the spot,
she said we can do this again!
more leftovers .
After supper and dishes done enjoying another great evening outside with some very nice weather. Some neighbours a few lots back have a band playing and music we can enjoy. So we will. Posting this blog , reading and enjoying the music and wonderful weather. Does not get much better that this a couple of days into fall.
After 8:30 tonight still enjoying the band, the crickets and our books , now this is the life.
Glad that y'all dropped on by and hop you had a great fall day as well.

  1. Here in SoCal we call your 'back bacon' 'Canadian bacon' ... pretty sure it's the same and we could use some! Your markets put ours to shame!!! enjoy the fresh while you can.

    1. We do love the markets here, really love all the fresh produce at this time of year. Most of the "Canadian Bacon" I have tried in the States is smoked, but our pea meal bacon is just cured and rolled in corn meal, not smoked needs to be cooked, either pan fried or on the grill.

  3. What are pepperettes? And what is pemeal bacon? I've never heard of such a thing. Course I've never spent any time in Canada either!! I'd go for the pies in a flash. I've seen those grill mats ... are they easy to clean???

    1. Pepperettes and like a small pepperoni snack dried and various spices, from mild to suicide. Something that I enjoy for a snack have never found these in the states. And pea meal bacon is a pork loin, trimmed and wet cured then rolled in cornmeal. Unlike "Canadian Bacon" available in the states it is not smoked, very tasty. Both of these are mostly found in Southern Ontario Canada. The grill mat is very easy to clean pretty well non stick. Just a quick wash in your dishwater.

  6. Hope that pepperette guy keeps a fire extinguisher handy at his booth. Peppers that hot might need cooling down! ;c)
