Wow what a wonderful day ! Not as warm as I like but still very comfortable can still wear shorts and t-shirts, AND the bonus was my back and legs like new again the pain is gone! So did some very nice walkabouts and exercise this morning.Puttered around for a while checked out our new/replacement CB and whipped into to Forest for a few groceries. Home by 10 am a nice light lunch then installed our new CB, to replace the one we installed 16 years ago, it finally died. We don't use it a lot but comes in handy when in traffic tie-ups and also has the weather channels on it as well to check the weather wherever we are in our travels. I have had a CB since 1980 when I commutted 75 miles each way to work and belonged to a CB club, with friends, rallies and family functions. Sure was a lot of fun back then, and still comes in handy now. My handle was "Daydreamer"
our new replacement CB |
this is a one hander so a very neat install |
Now we can relax outside and enjoy a cooler warm day enjoying our e-readers. What's not to love about that.
Then just after 3 pm Tucker arrived dragging along Gerry for Happy hour.
Then Ron dropped in. Paul, Melinda and Gerry so we flapped our gums, exchanged information and had a few laughs as well. Always a fun time with whoever shows up.
Soon time for me to begin supper, so preheat our Weber Q 100. prepped a nice pork loin roast with a tasty rub , set on the grill, low and slow for about an hour or so turning halfway through just to get it done perfectly. Added 2 quarters of an acorn squash with honey wrapped in foil. Then whipped up a small salad just to finish off our meal.
A pretty great day though much cooler that some people enjoy, but not a problem here at all, We will take the weather as it comes and we will enjoy it all. As long as no white stuff on the ground, and we can sit outside.
Thanks for stopping buy once again ! Glad to have you along for the ride.

Where have we been this summer ?
LOL - I have the same CB! I think it still works, but mostly use FRS radios now. I like the idea of having its external antenna showing while we travel in Mexico, not sure if we look more official but the checkpoints have never questioned it but have checked the FRS radios - which also have weather.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that weather as along as you can! Have you made plans to head south yet?
We have an FRS as well, but does not listen to the truckers that have live traffic infomation.
Delete20 more days then we cross the boarder and slowly make our way to the southwest, mostly we will wing it looking for some new places along the way and getting back into the desert in the southwest.
We have that very same Cobra CB in our rig as well. Like you I've had CB's kicking around for quite awhile and got my first one in 75. Like you we only ever use it for traffic problems or weather. Although I haven't spoke on a CB for decades I still like the idea of having one around for some reason.
ReplyDeleteWe had CB's way before cell phones and is a nice security blanket. I don't much speak on ours either, but is still nice to have. For traffic and weather.
DeleteSounds like a good touch of fall in the air. Been a few years since we had a CB but they do come in quite handy when you are on the road.
ReplyDeleteBack to regular fall weather now, though I did enjoy the heat wave. The CB does come in handy.
DeleteWe have the same CB--my handle was Misfit.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a lot of fun with our CB's over the years, nice when travelling with another rig so equipped to keep in touch.
DeleteMy Dad had a CB for years, you've maybe heard me mention his handle as Sunflower. Bill used to have one as well but not anymore.
ReplyDeleteLOVE teasing Gerry, he takes it so well. I'll miss doing that this winter.
Yesterday was so warm to start and cooled off later afternoon here. We'll have more nice fall days before we head out.
It did start out wonderful, but still not too bad of a day. Teasing Gerry is part of what we do and he keeps coming back for more. Looking forward to more nice fall weather as well.
DeleteWe used to have a CB as well, not quite sure why we don't now..Your dinner looks absolutely wonderful! Great happy hours you always seem to have!
ReplyDeleteI like to have it even though we don't use it that much. The roast was very tasty. We always enjoy relaxing outside in the afternoon, and welcome any one who wishes to stop by and join us if they wish. And I can whip up supper and eat at a decent time.
DeleteOkay, I'm buying pork loin. Boy does that look delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteNancy it was awesome! Enjoy.
DeleteSo glad you're feeling better. I'm impressed that Suzie can get down on the ground to greet Tucker. You kids are in great shape. That diet and exercise lifestyle you're on must be the key.
ReplyDeleteThe lifestyle and healthy eating habits sure seems to help us a lot.
DeleteFall weather has definitely arrived but it is still so beautiful out. It is just nice to not have the humidity. The CB sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteYes fall has arrived, but still pretty decent weather. I have a lot of fun over the years with my CB and now just use it for travelling, traffic and weather.
DeleteWe have a Cobra just like yours. We have it but we haven't used it in a long time. Listening to the chatter sure can be interesting though.
ReplyDeleteYes it can be at times , but still nice to have.
