A homemade soup kinda day, and computer stuff taken care of.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
We had rain most of the night and today drizzly and overcast all day high temps 52F. A good day to make a large pot of chicken Barley soup. I do have the bones from 3 chickens I have cooked (2 last night).  And Sandy has a large pot perfect for lotsa soup to share with them.
Got this going just after 6 am, and let the bones simmer for a couple of hours. to get all the flavour and goodness out of them to make a nice tasty broth.
While the bones  simmered a quick trip to the No Frills in New Hamburg for a few more veggies and stuff.
these cattle just standing in the rain
hey buddy whatcha looking at?
Cleaned the meat off  the bones and added spices , veggies, barley etc and let simmer for another hour or so, smells wonderful inside on a dismal day. All done by 10:30 this morning so I shared 1/2 of this large pot of Soup with Dennis and Sandy Then we enjoyed some for ourselves, perfect for this kind of weather.
love a home-made soup
After lunch a drive to Plattsville check our Lottery ticket and won! no money, but another free ticket so we get another chance without spending any cash. Then filled our R/O water jug at the Home Hardware while in town.
Back home I thought today is another good day to work on purging my photos, still drizzling, cold and cloudy.  On my old Mac book and backing them up on a 128GB sd card we bought on sale last week, This works pretty slick. I can save quite a few years of pictures on this tiny SD card. Finally I had enough of that computing, checked a few emails and a few short walkabouts the yard.
not a nice day to relax outside much
We had agreed earlier that we would like a feast of great chicken wings from the Trails Edge In Plattsville So just before 5 called in a order for us, picked it up at 5:30 and back here just in time for Dennis to be home from chores.
a great pub in Plattsville , good service and great food
heading back along the freshly graded gravel roads , now very smooth
makes a mess of our clean car though.
more cattle grazing in the rain
Supper home for the 4 of us and we sure did have a feast. chicken wings, caesar salads, fresh fries , sweet potatoes fries , celery carrots and blue cheese, oh yeah it was all good!
tasty? yup it was
Even though the weather was not great we sure did get things taken care of. Have been waiting for this kinda weather to do these things.
Then to wind up a nice day with a wonderful feed of excellent chicken wings, fries and a caesar salad.
No visible sunset tonight, still drizzly, cold and cloudy, just like it has been all day. The forecast for the rest of the week promises to be sunnier and a bit warmer, we will enjoy that I am sure.
So will enjoy a bit more reading our e-reaaders and watch the tube for a bit. and call it a night.
Glad you stopped by for a look see and check us out, hope you had a decent day as well.

  1. You made the best of a not so nice day here in Ontario. Soup and wings I call comfort food and computer work are best done when there is no urge to go outside. I dove today into the book "The Inside Passage" by Ted Higuera and don't have time to do anything else until I finish it ;-)

    1. I did get things taken care of nicely, yeas the soup and wings comfort food,, gotta get back on my healthy eating routine again. I like to read outside mostly and was too chilly for that and these things needed to be done on the computer.
A good book is hard to turn down, when you get right into tit.

  3. It's getting to be soup time of year. Honestly, I've never been a fan. Seems I eat soup and thirty minutes later I'm back for another bowl ... kind of like Chinese food!! You did the chicken wings right though ..... go out and buy them!! LOL

    1. Soup time is any time in my books, but cooler weather is even better. I used to be like that before, now I find a good hearty bowl on homemade soup does it for me.
I would have made the wings for the 2 of us but for 4 this was easier, plus they were buying, lol....

  4. Good looking soup George! I bet it smelled delicious inside! Dinner looks good too for a nice treat! That's great you were able to get pics transferred too and a few more things done inside. Those days are good for some things so you don't feel guilty about being inside :)

  8. You gave me a great idea! I'm making ham and vegetable soup to wait out Hurricane Florence. We are in tropical force winds zone, not hurricane force winds (unless it begins to turn south). Some macaroni salad sounds good, too. We have our old Weber BBQ to heat up the soup if we lose electric.
