Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Much cooler last night and another wonderful full night's sleep. Slept in until 6 am! Up and at it coffees and computing done. And a short walkabout. Because of the decent weather today we have a plan . Going to go the the Plowing match we have not been to for quite a few years. The next 2 days call for rain, and not a fun place to be when it is raining, (been there done that)
At 8:30 this morning we hopped in the car and made a nice back country drive to the
International Plowing Match in Pain Court Ontario only 1 hour and 18 minutes away, No major highways just a comfortable peaceful back country drive.
We arrived there just after 10 am got parked in a field as we usually do. and made our way to the shuttle to the match. Lotsa shuttles so no waiting always fun and the weather was wonderful.
|
getting directed to a parking spot |
|
we right beside this truck |
|
this be our bus to the entrance |
|
lotsa neat wagons here |
|
on our way in, |
First thing we noticed was the
Canadian Cowgirls beginning their show and it was amazing ! So we made our way there and the stands were full but we did get to sit on the ground right by the fence. What a wonderful show they did. Watched for a very long time. Love what they can do with these horses.
|
this lady was later showing what she does to train these horses |
|
they are heading back to their stables look amazing |
And here she is below just showing us the amazing things that she can do with them this particular horse.
After a while we moved on down the road, lots more to see.
|
an amazing machine , it cut logs, splits them and makes a nice wood pile
of firewood , gotta love it! |
We checked this tent to check out some displays everything here is amazing
Lotsa food booths don't want a large deep fried onion for 12 bucks? Hmm what the heck?
The atmosphere is always fun , but we found that this year it seemed much smaller and a lot less people, mind you it has been quite a few years since we have been to a plowing match. Now we don't watch any plowing, not much interested in that.
|
helicopter rides here? think they would be pricey |
Then we stopped by to watch the Team Farmsll Dancing Tractors doing a Square dance. Another amazing show we have seen quite a few times. These tractors doing a square dance to the music , and so close together. A definite must see if you go there.
|
square dancing Tractors so entertaining |
|
then of course Tim Hortons has a few vans here selling coffee |
We checked a few food vendors and this one had what Suzie wanted . Peameal bacon on a bun ( Canadian things) and we shared a small order of fries, The most reasonable vendor here.
|
this was a tasty breakfast |
So many vendors here with farm equipment and other things that we are not interested in. Well Suzie anyway.
|
clothing?they have that too |
|
this helicopter is a crop duster kinda cool |
|
not too crowded at all today |
Then we came across the Dairy Farmer's on Ontario , of course they promote their products here and for a good price.
|
think we need an ice cream 2 bucks a good deal |
|
lots of choices |
|
a nice deal for 2 bucks each |
As we wandered on past the Main Stage this small band playing some very good music , we stopped for a while and almost danced on the street she was that good.
More interesting displays to check out so much to see..
Then before we knew it we were at the Last Furrow, ( entertainment tent) . Here we sat for a while to relax, enjoyed the entertainment and shared an adult refreshment. Craft beers and local wineries were on the menu.
|
another small band playing some great songs
these guys were excellent as well. |
|
this be the Last Furrow always a nice spot to relax for a bit |
Then make our way to gate number 1 and grab a wagon ride back to the parking lot. non stop wagons here no waiting.
|
we are just down this row a bit |
Then hopped in our car and made our way back home, enjoying a different country drive and more scenery for the next 78 minutes and we home at 3: 01 pm in time for Happy hour.
Think Tucker must have been watching for us. Not 5 minutes later he appeared with Gerry in tow to chat for a while about both of our days. Paul dropped by as well to catch up and wish Suzie a belated birthday greeting.
Now Tucker eventually got his treat. A good boy as always.
|
he sat like he was told |
|
Now a new one for him and Suzie, he gently took the treat from her mouth, good job Tucker |
Soon time for a later supper, just grilled a Turkey burger for Suzie and a chorizo burger for me. I still have 2 more left from Arizona, I treasure these tasty burgers.
|
not long and cooked to perfection |
|
my chorizo burger was so tasty, really hit the spot |
After supper back outside and still pretty warm, so finishing up this posting and reading for a bit then finally inside just before 9 pm. Soon time to call it a night after another fun day.
Glad that y'all dropped on by and hope you had a great day as well.

DeleteWhat a great day! My kinda fun! The tractor pulls I've been to is also a carnival where the main event are the tractors pulling a sliding weight until they stall. Yours looks like more fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day Jeff. We have been to a few tractor pulls, and are fun here out in the fields with the sliding weight. But this one too far away on Friday night, plus it os supposed to rain.It would be very interesting to see the mud flying though.
DeleteNow you're talking ... a day right up my alley!! That's some horse trailer those gals have. A SEVEN HORSE beauty!! I've watched the tractors dance ... it's amazing how they can spin on a time. What a fun day, not to mention the ice cream!!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a fun day, the cowgirls doing their stuff, the tractors dancing, the food and yummy ice cream, sure did the trick.
DeleteFun way to spend the day.
ReplyDeleteYes Larry it sure was fun day we both enjoyed.
DeleteThat looks like the perfect day for the plowing match! Glad you enjoyed it before the rain arrives. I've been there, done that too after the rain and it is not fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the Canadian Cowgirls costumes and horses.
It was a perfect day, especially before the rain. It sure was an experience in the mud a few times.
DeleteThe Cowgirls put on a wonderful show too.
Oh my what a wonderful event..I know it's something we would definitely enjoy! Never seen a tractor dance, but would love to!! The cowgirls I'm sure would be fun to watch and to end it with an adult beverage and more music! I'm jealous! You guys know how to have fun for sure! Tucker is adorable. Think he would do anything for Suzie
ReplyDeleteThis is an event we been to many times as I said, always a different location every year. The music and everything was fun . Suzie does spoil Tucker.
DeleteCountry life at its best! And a lot of tasty treats.
ReplyDeleteYes Peter , nothing like a great country life with a few treats thrown in.
DeleteNow that was a full day of fun. Never heard of the Canadian Cowgirls before, nor tractor square dancing for that matter.
ReplyDeleteIt was a full day of fu for sure. Now you only get the Cowgirls and tractor dancing at farm shows which I don't think you do much of those.
DeleteThe plowing match looks like fun...
ReplyDeleteThe horses; and square dancing tractors... something I would enjoy.
