Started off a soup day, then eventually warmed up and the weather cleared after supper.

Where are we today ?

Happy Wednesday, after the sunny warm weather yesterday, now cooler and overcast. I got just over a mile walked this morning they the rain sprinkles started a good day to make a pot of soup. we had bought this soup mix (fully loaded Potato soup from mitchellssoupco.ca) at the Pinery Flea market that we sampled and Suzie liked. So I set to work putting it together ,

a nice soup mix
but by the time I added the
extras was pricey
this made a huge pot of very tasty soup
lots more lunches
We sure had a good feed of this hearty soup and will enjoy lots more.
yummy it sure is
Now most of the afternoon was like this, then the rain stopped so we could enjoy some reading out side for an hour until the rain started again. Just before 3 pm.
Now at 3 pm we headed over to Ken and Kim's for Happy hour inside. They only here for a few more days so we enjoyed some more sharing tips and stories , these are always fun social times.
Ken and Kim in their coach
Back home for supper, our plan was to make up these chicken wings I picked up on sale. 4 bucks for a dozen wings to cook. But I failed to notice they were marinated in hot spicy sauce. Hmm not go for Suzie. So I thawed them washed off all the sauces , Coated them in Fish Crisp and fried in our Fry Daddy. I can do that outside now with no more rain.
a good deal and I made them work for us
not too spicy for Suzie
Fry daddy doing an amazing job
Added to our salad and they even came with hot wing sauce and blue cheese for dipping. Added to our salad and some carrot sticks was excellent.
Yummy? yup it was
After supper and dishes done the wind died down and sun shining on our patio. Very warm out here, So our chairs back out enjoying the wonderful spring time weather.
Finishing this posting, chat for a while, watch a couple of kids having fun in the playground. And enjoy our e-readers . This is ending up an excellent day.
a couple of young boys here playing on the tires

Still very early and blog is ready to post so will show you the nice sunset we had last night. Still almost 2 hours before we get on here and I want to put this behind me and do some more reading for the rest of the night. If I get a sunset later I will show you tomorrow.
another colorful sunset we enjoyed
Thanks for taking the time to drop on by and really hope you had some decent spring weather wherever you may be.

A soup kinda day, and a new inverter install thanks to a tip from Croft.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it

Cooler and a bit of rain off and on today. A good day to make a pot of soup. So with the left over turkey bones from last Saturday night I set them on to boil and make a tasty broth. While this was happening I went to Forest for a few supplies, in particular to pick up a new 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter that Canadian Tire had on sale. $80.00 off only $239.00. Our other one is a 1200 watt modified sine wave and has served up wonderfully for 12 years.
this be the new inverter with a 2 year warranty
awesome deal!
BUT. when Croft mentioned his inverter died and got this one at Canadian Tire in BC. it got me thinking. Ours was giving us some issues last winter, occasionally it would shut off for apparently no reason. And we would have to wait a while and reset it. We had thought about replacing it this past spring and totally forgot. Thanks for the reminder Croft. besides we had more than enough Canadian Tire money to buy it here (we like free!). If we need to replace it in the states we would have to spend money.  So I got the new one and installed it in no time. It took more time to empty that compartment and put stuff back than the install. The only thing left is to install the remote switch as the remote for the other one does not work on this new unit. A small project for another day.
Back from shopping I finished up the turkey barely soup with lotsa veggies we wanted to use up and shared some with Gerry and Melinda. They bought the turkey for the dart club banquet and I cooked it, and they do enjoy my homemade soups.
a nice large pot of tasty soup,
perfect day for it
yup love my soup
After lunch while doing the inverter install Paul dropped by to chat for a bit then when that was done I got to enjoy my e-reader for a while before whipping up a salad for tonight's supper to go with a grilled chicken breast on our Weber Q 100.
The old inverter still was working so will keep it as a spare, just in case so we are not stranded. The new one has 2 cooling fans that should help to keep it running much better.
Old one on the left , new one on the right
fit right in the same spot
and so far works perfectly.
now to relax in the shade enjoying our e-readdrs
with my sweetie
2 large bone in chicken breasts smelling
wonderful out here while reading
this sure hit the spot and of course some left over chicken
for lunches
I noticed we were having a nice early sunset
then the clouds began to show some colour too
a nice ending to a perfect day
We did have a wonderful day , so peaceful here almost like we are totally isolated. Love it when the campgrounds are like this.
Still enjoying a nice mild evening outside, not a sound anywhere. Gonna wrap up this posting and read a bit then head inside by 9 pm.
Thanks for dropping by again and hope y'all had a wonderful day as well.

A homemade soup kinda day, and computer stuff taken care of.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
We had rain most of the night and today drizzly and overcast all day high temps 52F. A good day to make a large pot of chicken Barley soup. I do have the bones from 3 chickens I have cooked (2 last night).  And Sandy has a large pot perfect for lotsa soup to share with them.
Got this going just after 6 am, and let the bones simmer for a couple of hours. to get all the flavour and goodness out of them to make a nice tasty broth.
While the bones  simmered a quick trip to the No Frills in New Hamburg for a few more veggies and stuff.
these cattle just standing in the rain
hey buddy whatcha looking at?
Cleaned the meat off  the bones and added spices , veggies, barley etc and let simmer for another hour or so, smells wonderful inside on a dismal day. All done by 10:30 this morning so I shared 1/2 of this large pot of Soup with Dennis and Sandy Then we enjoyed some for ourselves, perfect for this kind of weather.
love a home-made soup
After lunch a drive to Plattsville check our Lottery ticket and won! no money, but another free ticket so we get another chance without spending any cash. Then filled our R/O water jug at the Home Hardware while in town.
Back home I thought today is another good day to work on purging my photos, still drizzling, cold and cloudy.  On my old Mac book and backing them up on a 128GB sd card we bought on sale last week, This works pretty slick. I can save quite a few years of pictures on this tiny SD card. Finally I had enough of that computing, checked a few emails and a few short walkabouts the yard.
not a nice day to relax outside much
We had agreed earlier that we would like a feast of great chicken wings from the Trails Edge In Plattsville So just before 5 called in a order for us, picked it up at 5:30 and back here just in time for Dennis to be home from chores.
a great pub in Plattsville , good service and great food
heading back along the freshly graded gravel roads , now very smooth
makes a mess of our clean car though.
more cattle grazing in the rain
Supper home for the 4 of us and we sure did have a feast. chicken wings, caesar salads, fresh fries , sweet potatoes fries , celery carrots and blue cheese, oh yeah it was all good!
tasty? yup it was
Even though the weather was not great we sure did get things taken care of. Have been waiting for this kinda weather to do these things.
Then to wind up a nice day with a wonderful feed of excellent chicken wings, fries and a caesar salad.
No visible sunset tonight, still drizzly, cold and cloudy, just like it has been all day. The forecast for the rest of the week promises to be sunnier and a bit warmer, we will enjoy that I am sure.
So will enjoy a bit more reading our e-reaaders and watch the tube for a bit. and call it a night.
Glad you stopped by for a look see and check us out, hope you had a decent day as well.

A quite night but no rain and still 63F this morning at 5 am, supposed to be cloudy all day with possible Thunderstorms this afternoon. Got a couple of nice walkabouts after I put some chicken bones from our freezer on to make a pot of chicken soup. And while it was simmering away I made a 1/2 dozen blueberry muffins from mix we have.
this was all done by 9 am
a nice easy mix we like
I need a cable connector for our tv antenna , the cable broke off. It is a smaller cable than the standard RG 56 cable and connectors I need an RG 59 connector. So checked the hardware store in town , Canadian Tire, and Dollar store in Forest, Nope. Then the Source (Radio Shack)  in Forest. Hm they closed only open Mon to Friday 9 to 4, Guess I will try again on Monday.
Back home for lunch , the soup is ready, so a nice tasty lunch . Perfect for an overcast day.
Tasty Chicken/ Barley soup (Patsie) yummy
Then at 12 noon I headed into Arkona to check out the parade. Love small town parades! Doesn't everybody ? I parked on a side street and set my chair up at the curb. reading my e-reader until they started.

It was a fun fast paced parade that last about 30 minutes, and no rain, overcast about 75F comfortable degrees.
Now back home to get back into our page turners in the shade and then the sun came out for a while. A nice peaceful afternoon. Enjoying this weather we are.
Then 3 pm Happy Hour and Gerry came over with Tucker and Choco (he is dog sitting Choco for a week), So more doggie fixes for Suzie.
Tucker gets his treat
Choco gets his treat
Another friend dropped by to chat for a while Glen, then eventually at 4:30 we headed into Arkona for the Fish Fry at the Senior's Centre. We always enjoy a good fish fry and it is a fundraiser.
Got our tickets and I choose an extra pice of fish, wow was this a feast. I did not need it all but did manage too work my through it, was so very good. Codfish it was and pretty well cooked to order.
we had to wait a few minutes but worth it !
these people are kept busy
oh yeah, so yummy
a good selection for dessert as well
The hall was full but we sat across from a friend
Bessie and chatted for a while
they were setting up tables and chairs in the firehall as well
here we are back home, sun shining and
predicted thunderstorms has not happen yet
Outside in the shade posting this blog 83F just a wonderful evening with no wind and no bugs.
Back to our e-readers relaxing and listening to the birds chirping on a wonderful warm summer evening after a fun busy day.
Hope y'all had a nice summer day as well and thanks for dropping by for a visit.
