Service our coach, heading to Willis Texas, and running into friends..

Where are we today ?
240 miles  (386 kms) today
Up early as usual, and after computing, coffees and a walkabout we left the campground about 7:30 this morning. Just heading into town to get our coach serviced. The Rockport Quick lube to service our coach, no appointment necessary. Don't open until 8 am so wanna be there and get it done so we can get on the road.

We were second in line and by 9 am they were done with our coach. Lube oil and filter for our gas coach, good deal only $47.00. We have paid anywhere from $39.00 to $79.00 for the same service.
Done here, I went to meet Suzie who was waiting in the car reading here books by the bay at the beach, in front of the big crab statue.
parked by the BIG crab
Car hooked up and ready to go noticed a few dolphins in the bay not far from us, really too cool but very hard to catch a picture of them. The picture below you can see a fin just to the left of center. Sorry thats the best I could do. But hey was good for us!
Then headed out of town towards Houston over the Copano  Bridge and cross country.

Houston many overpasses
We choose to go directly into Houston on I-59 then north on I-45. And being a saturday traffic was not too bad except they had some construction, so got tied up for a bit. No big deal we are in house , can take all day for all we care. Except we are running low on fuel.
love the markings on the roads
Just north of Houston we got to the Flying J we wanted for fuel. The low fuel light had been on for a bit so this had to be the stop. We have never run our tank this low before, usually always keep it above 1/4 tank.  Fuelled up here and put in 67 gallons. In a 70 gallon tank, that sure was cutting it close, considering we get about 7.5 miles per gallon. After fuelling made a bite to eat for lunch then carried on a bit further to our destination Castaways Rv resort in Willis Texas.
Checked in, picked out a nice spot and got all set up by 3pm. Perfect!
Now just as we are thinking about what to do for supper, a knock on the door! Our friends Emile and Monique from Ontario! Last time we saw then was inAlabama just before Christmas. Such a small world. They have been in the Valley of South Texas for a while and are like us beginning the homeward bound trek. They stopped for a bit of a happy hour chatted and caught up then time for supper. We will get together again this week.

Now time for a bite to eat, simple, quick and easy, peel a few potatoes, fresh garlic, boil them up for garlic mashed taters, heat up some of our leftover turkey breast in gravy, a slice or two of bread, a handfull of peas and there ya go!  Hot Turkey sandwich!
That's it for our travel day, not too bad and really enjoyed the trip. So much fun running into people on the road.
Thanks again for stopping by and sharing the journey with us. Have ga wonderful Sunday!

    1. Not bad at all and they even added 1/2 gallon of antifreeze to the rad too. For that price.

  2. You really did cut it close. With only 3 gallons to spare, I would have been on pins and needles. Glad you made it though.

    1. At least we found out the low fuel light works, and how much gas we have left when it comes on.

  5. Good price on the oil change. We really hate all that big city traffic but sometimes you have no choice. Glad you were able to get through it and not run out of gas. I think there are some other bloggers at you park as well, Brenda and Gerry from Niagara Falls. They would have just arrived last night I think but not sure how long they will be staying!

  6. Boy, you guys like to live dangerously with your fuel, don't you? :-) We did that with the car the other day, got to the gas station on fumes! Nice spot in Willis! Take care...

    1. We can normally get 450 miles out a tank with still a 1/4 tank left, but the last fill up did not quite fill the tank I guess because we only did 410 miles.
