Where are we today ?
Overnight Saturday was very warm, windows open fans going and still about 72f inside most of the night. No problem with the time change was wonderful. Instead of waking up at 4:30 it was now 5:30am but then still had a few hours before the sun came up. The heavy rains woke Suzie up at 6:30 am, sorry dear, I closed the bedroom door! But it was wonderful regardless. Coffees, computing then walkabouts in the rain when the sun came up, but it was raining. We had a very heavy rain for a while, but before noon all cleared up and we all happy.
Appears to be March break around here lots families camping and the kids down by the water. Soccer, basketball, swimming (in the cold lake!) and generally having a great time.

The weather today called for rain all day so plan (A) was to make a meatloaf in the oven. But after lunch sun came out temps warmed up and all was good !
So plan (B) is to make meatloaf to cook on our Weber. Standard meatloaf recipe (whatever you like) but for this one I hid some cheese in the middle. Then put the rest of the meat on top. I wrapped it in foil and set in the fridge for a couple hours (firm up) until time to cook.

refrigerate for a while |
Now preheated the grill for 15 minutes and turn the heat down to medium low. Set the meatloaf right on the grill and closed the lid.
Time to enjoy our books for a while, 30 minutes or so then slathered some BBQ sauce (brown sugar and spices included) all over. Then it was so nice that our neighbors Gerry and Brenda dropped by for "Happy hour" (Turtle on down the road). Chatted and swapped stories for a while.
Then throw some taters on the grill and carrots in foil the next 35 minutes until the meatloaf reaches 160f internal temperature with my instant read thermometer.
Worked out perfect, very tasty and a great way to cook our meatloaf on our Weber Q-100. Maybe next time either no BBQ sauce or add at the last 10 minutes, caused a bit of burning from the sugar on the bottom.
We had a great sunday. it was supposed to rain all day, but warm and sunny in the afternoon. Sure can't beat that with a stick. Just lovin this almost rainy weather especially with very warm temperatures.
Glad you could drop in, too bad you did not stay for our BBQ'd meatloaf it was awesome. Like pretty good too!

Worked wonderful.
DeleteThe parks sure change when spring break rolls around. It's kind of like summer.
ReplyDeleteYes they sure due, but it will soon be over and quiet again for a while.
DeleteLove meatloaf, don't have it very often because Tracy is allergic to onions and it doesn't taste the same without it. Glad you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteMake a small one for her without onions or use garlic instead and peppers. That would work for me.
DeleteSure sounds like a great day !!
ReplyDeleteThe meatloaf sure looks enticing ... lol.
Glad the rain let up ..
Take care ... TnT
Yes was wonderful once the rain stopped.
DeleteCan cook almost everything on the Weber!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice afternoon, so nice to be out after the rain, everything so fresh and clean. Good idea, cooking the meatloaf on the Weber, and you get rid of so much of the fat by using the grill. Finding our Weber, and our pressure cooker are fast becoming our favorite RV cooking appliances. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteA great day after the rain and yes the Weber and Pressure cooker are great!
DeleteAh...springtime! How we "desert rats" all long to see something fresh and green. It is actually the spirit of spring which makes me want to return home. Spring is sooo wonderful out there.
ReplyDeleteSpring is wonderful everywhere and by being in the south we have a very long extended spring all the way home.
DeleteI love Meatloaf! I never thought about trying it on the Weber though. I'll have to try that I just hope mine turns out looking as good as yours.
ReplyDeleteI need to try everything on the Weber, its an amazing grill.
