A relaxing Christmas Day, watching Alabama Weather

Where are we today ?
If we didn't wish you Merry Christmas before we are doing it now.

A good night's sleep and its now Christmas Morning. Looks like Santa Claus was here, we woke up, are upright and breathing, warm southern weather, no snow and have each other, what more can we ask for? We don't exchange gifts much anymore, if we need it we buy it and call it a Christmas gift. Oh we had Tornado warnings but thats normal for here, we are getting used to that.
The Yule log on tv and Christmas music, coffees and some computing got us going. Then I set to whip a batch of beans in our slow cooker, with bacon, onions and pineapple, get them going by 7am so they would be done to perfection for the Christmas pot luck dinner here at the clubhouse for 12 noon. The resort supplied the meat, ham and turkey even thou it was called for ham only.
While the beans were cookin away we made and received our Christmas morning phone calls and skype videos. So nice to keep in touch with family over the holidays during the Christmas season. Even thou we saw almost everybody just 9 days ago.
beans are ready
Over to the clubhouse and secured a couple of seats with lotsa people here ready for a wonderful Christmas dinner.
a friendly couple we sat with
lotsa food
A few children here having fun playing table tennis (ping pong) working up an appetite.
ping pong
Table numbers were drawn from a deck of cards and we ended up table number three of  five. About 120 people altogether. Not to worry thou so much food, main courses and deserts, nobody will go away hungry thats for sure. So many choices and real tasty clam chowder, oh soo good.
so tasty !
After a tasty Christmas dinner we chatted with the manager for a bit and he suggested we stay for a quick easy dice game, kinda like LCR Dice Game but we only use one regular dice. Any number of people can play. Put $1.00 in front of you and pass the dice around the table, roll a 4 and pass your dollar to the left roll a 5 and pass your dollar to the right, roll a 6 and you dollar goes in the middle (the pot). Any other number you just pass the dice, nobody is out of the game until all the bills end up in the middle and the last person rolls a six winning the pot! And guess what ? Suzie won the pot $14.00 beginners luck I guess. But it was a fun, quick moving game.
Now full tummys and a much fuller wallet we headed home for a relaxing afternoon. Read outside for a while, still very warm out. But we were kept busy keeping an eye on the skies, internet and local weather tv channel. Following the severe storm and tornado warnings and watches. Coming in off the Gulf Of Mexico.
unsettled skies
As of 7 o'clock our weather was pretty good no winds or rain, even thou a few tornadoes touched down in Mobile 27 miles west of us. Now its further north and west of us. But the forecast says there could be issues in central Florida tomorrow, so if you are there keep an eye on you weather channels.
Other than a few possible weather issues today, was absolutely a great quiet relaxing Christmas Day, hope you had a good one too, with family and or friends.
Thanks for stopping in for a visit.

  4. We gave up that gift giving thing around about the time we started RVing. And we gave up that sending Christmas cards thing long before that. Like you, our gift giving is incorporated with things we need or buy as we go along. After years of many zany Christmas's we much prefer things on the quiet side now. Just the two of us & the Pheebs:))

  7. Sounds like everyone was having big potluck dinners on Christmas day. I am getting hungry just looking at all of the food. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas.

BTW, we love that game of LCR. We now have the dice for it and we play with 3-5 1 pesos pieces(we're such big spenders, you know!). We were first introduced to the game in our first winter of motorhoming when we were in the Baja. We played it a number of times here last winter. It's a great game for a large crowd.
