More wonderful summer weather, and a surgeon visit for me.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
No sunset sighting last night too overcast . We did get a very  nice sleep in this cooler weather. It was 55 F at 6am today. So with our oatmeal and coffees consumed some computing done and a walkabout town 1.5 miles to begin the day. Stopped at Pettigrew's to arrange getting our coach in next week for some repairs and maintenance.
a misty sunrise at  6 am
Then at 9 am we headed into Stratford to consult with a surgeon about repairing my crooked baby fingers that I cannot straighten and is causing me some discomfort. The worst is on my left hand this is called Dupuytren's Contracture  and we discussed options either surgery or an Injection with a drug called XIAFLEX. The surgery has a longer recovery time but is covered by our health care. The needle is not covered and we have to pay for it. I like the idea of the needle so we will bite the bullet and pay. Not cheap! Just have to order this drug and when it is paid for make an appointment with the specialist. Hopefully sooner than later.
this is my finger not comfortable causing issues
and some pain, cannot straighten it any more
We left the Doc shortly after 10 am made a few stops on the way home and back here by 11:30 in time for lunch. One stop was the Pork Shop in Shakespeare, to check it out has been years since we have stopped here. Some wonderful products but I find the very pricey.
We enjoyed a tasty light lunch and puttered around for a while getting a few things taken care of. And as we like to do enjoyed some afternoon reading time with our e-readers.
A bit  later we heard some farm machinery across the road about 100 feet away . Looks like Doug is spraying his corn field, talked to him the other day and I knew it was due soon. Guess today was the day.

our quiet afternoon view
that we love
lotsa squirrels managed to catch a pic of this one
I did finish another John Sandford novel with Virgel Flowers and got right into another novel of his I really do love his writing, and have them right here on my KOBO so why not?
another page turner I am getting right into
A short happy hour we enjoyed briefly discussing this winters travels and options giving each other ideas. No plans yet and we seldom make many plans anyway.
Soon time to whip up supper Suzie's choice tonight was chicken took a couple of bone in split chicken breasts out of the freezer, whipped up a salad preheat our Weber q and  grilled them to perfection. Adding  some of this Bourbon Bbq sauce that we enjoy to glaze and give it a wonderful flavour.
we do really love this BBQ sauce
thanks Deb and Rilley
nicely done and so tasty
added to our salad we enjoyed a tasty supper
and some more left over for lunches as well
That was a great productive and relaxing day we both enjoyed getting things done and more wonderful summer weather. Much cooler but very comfortable. Temps in the mid 80's F but only 40% humidity not hot enough for the pool yet for us.
We have now been here for over 4 weeks, much longer than we like to be in one place. But  we have things to take care of right in the area. we  have this major hitch itch , but still will be we here a bit longer ,hmm... get some work done on our coach next week and we should be able, too get mobile again , at least we hope.
Still enjoying this outside at 8 pm and no skeeters yet, wrap up this posting, read a bit more. maybe a sunset her later on we will see what happens.
Thanks again for dropping on by.

  3. I had the needle in my left hand, happy with the results. Going in next week to see if I can arrange for the left. My father in law left his roo long and had no option but surgery.

    1. I know a couple of people who had the needle and are happy with as well. would rather do that as opposed to the surgery

  5. I do believe I would go the needle route myself even if that meant having to pay for it. Hope you soon get a reprieve from your pain.

    1. It is pretty expensive but should be much quicker recovery and less invasive.

  6. Catching up sounds like you and Suzie have been having a good summer. Always nice to be able to spend time with family, we are just back from 15 days by our son and his family. Also, nice to be able to catch up with friends. Then sometimes it is just nice to be home relaxing. I really hope the injection does the trick for you and helps with the pain. Surgery and recovery is never fun. Always enjoy seeing pictures of your grandchildren.

  8. Good luck with the injection. Sounds like others have had positive results.
I was wondering about the hitch itch but it is nice to stay and get things taken care of.
Continue to enjoy this great weather! I would have been in that pool every day since last Friday. :)

    1. Thanks good reviews for it though pretty pricey. We are ready to go probably back to Rock Glen, that works for us too. We are enjoying this weather. We only go in the pool to cool down but have been quite comfortable these last few days.

  9. If both the injection and surgery will fix the finger, you would think insurance would want to cover the cheaper option.

    1. I would think the injection would be cheaper, but our free health care here does not cover it, weird.

  10. Good luck with the injection..hope it works and no more needed. Our youngest son has the same thing, trying to go as long as possible without surgery as it affects his trigger finger and he is in law enforcement. Beautiful green in your part of the country! Dinner looks wonderful, love our chicken!

    1. Thank you am hopping this will do the trick. Hmm not good for you son affecting his trigger finger in his job.
Everything is so green here growing like crazy.
Yes we do love our chicken as well.

  11. Certainly no fun having a finger like that. It sounds like you have a good doctor offering you a choice. I would say that you made the right choice. My research shows that it costs over $3,000.00USD, that is expensive. Keep up posted.

    1. It is not fun very uncomfortable, the drug here is $1,400.00 Can. Not cheap but I would prefer that over the surgery.

    2. $1,400.00 is reasonable. At least you can still declare that in your taxes next spring.

    3. That would be nice if we had enough income to pay taxes.
But not so much it is all in investments.
      We will see.
