Where are we today ?

It was windy and rainy overnight and pretty quiet as well, but no problem we slept soundly as usual. Up early computing, and coffees, walkabout the windy parking lot and checked out the store waiting for the sun to come up. But really in no rush today. After checking our tires and lights we pulled out at 8:15 am. Still a bit of morning traffic around Columbus OH. Only a slow down for a few minutes.6 lanes and no slow down |
We stopped at almost every rest area today to stretch and do a short walkabout, keeps us refreshed. Then just before noon at the last rest area in Ohio we made a nice lunch.
Tornado shelter too |
rest area is under there |
Leaving Ohio |
We don't mind travelling on days like this, pretty cold 45F (7C) windy and drizzly all day long. We put in 332 miles (532kms) and stopped at 3:15 pm. But we changed time zones so now 2:15 pm. That's enough driving for one day. We fuelled up here, even a better price for fuel $2:14 a gallon with our Good Sam discount. That's .71 cents a litre in Canadian funds. We topped up with 43 gallons that is a savings of almost $50.00 Cdn on this fill up alone, really gotta love it.
love the rv fuel lanes here at the flying J's so easy in and out |
with our Good Sam card we save 5 cents a gallon so the pump price is $2:14. |
Got parked here set up and fired up our Mr.Heater so we can be toasty warm, relax and get some nice reading time in before making supper.
a nice quiet spot here |
Soon time for supper. I had picked up a couple of these Pork Florentine Pinwheels at Niagara Produce on Monday and wanted to check them out. A pork loin roast rolled with spinach and swiss cheese slices. Easy to do, sear in a cast iron pan , 2 minutes a side , and set the pan in a preheated oven at 350 f for 25 minutes.
these turned out amazing maybe only 20 minutes in the oven, would be better but oh so tasty think I can make these at some point |
sure hit the spot tonight |
332 miles today |
Thanks for stopping in for a peek and like usual hope y'all had an awesome day too.

Where have we been this winter ?
Glad you had a good travel day. Sometimes it's easier to travel when the skies are overcast or even cloudy...the sun isn't so bright. Wish for you safe travels on Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteThanks it is easier to travel in this weather, we have been through most of thee areas before over the years.
DeleteContinued safe travels as you make your way south and west.
ReplyDeleteThanks that's our plan.
DeleteYou are making really good time, guess the weather is helping - hard to do a walkabout in the rain. I too like your gas prices - wait till you get to California! Continued safe travels!
ReplyDeleteRainy walkabouts is not much fun, we like the gas prices too,
DeleteWe try t avoid fuelling up our rv in California
Can't wait for your recipe for the Pork Florentine. It did look good. Surprised at the weather you encountered. But then yesterdays weather showed the Jet Stream dipping down into the middle of the US. Leaving for the SW the middle of November, so hope it goes back up.
ReplyDeletePeter probably a while before I make the Pork Florentine and post the recipe, but this recipe of my the sausage and bacon stuffed pork loin is similar. http://georgesweberq100.blogspot.ca/search/label/Stuffed%20Pork%20Loin%20Roast
DeleteJust stuffed with spinach and swiss cheese slices. rolled up then tied every inch and a half and sliced yo make the pinwheels.
We don't enjoy those types of travel days. It was okay when the rain stopped.
ReplyDeleteThose pinwheels look like something I would enjoy. I'll have to look for them rather than make them. :)
We would have to park on a far edge at a Flying J, those small spots won't work for us. Walmarts or Sams Clubs work better with our slides.
The pinwheels were excellent, but much easier to buy them occasionally I agree. The flying J's work for us as you know we don't need to open our slide.
DeleteAlways enjoy following the routes you folks drive.
ReplyDeleteStew, thanks for riding along with us.
DeleteCrappy weather!
ReplyDeletePinwheels look great
Safe travels
Thanks Tucker,Suzie misses you.
DeleteDon't mind the weather while travelling, and the pin wheels were excellent.
Glad you got to stop early after putting all those miles behind you! Where in Arkansas are you headed? Those pinwheels looked awesome..anything with cheese and spinach has to be good! Diesel prices are sure high there, such a difference between gas and diesel. Poor truckers!
ReplyDeleteWe are now in Search Arkansas. like the fuel prices too!
DeleteWe stayed near Effingham on our way to Goshen, IN
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice area.
DeleteAny day traveling on the road to the Southwest is a good day no matter what the weather. Wish I was going with you. No westerly traveling for us until next March.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about thats . I hope you recover quickly and can get back on the road again.
DeleteYou're getting closer. Just keep on truck'n (or is it rv'n) and that warm weather will soon be all around you.
ReplyDeleteMuch better today, no problems at all.
