A very good travel day. Not many more until we back home.

Where are we today ?

Another good sleep and up at 5 am 53F very nice.  Got the coffee etc taken care of then a walkabout the parking lot and the store checking out a few things. Then back home for another coffee, and back to Walmart to fill our jug of RO drinking water, picked up a few groceries, and back home again. We secured the coach checked tires and lights, then on the road at 8 am no real rush only 278 miles was our plan but changing another time zone, so will loose an hour.
Hopped on I 70, and I  74 smooth sailing all the way no wind, no rain, no heavy traffic, no tornadoes a perfect travel day. Made our way across Illinois, and into Indiana welcome centre where we stopped, got some nice walking and leg stretching done, made a bite to eat for lunch. Then after 30 minutes or so back on the road.
a nice welcome centre time to stop and make lunch
We took the southern bypass around Indianapolis, and arrived at the Spiceland  Flying J. A place we have stayed many times when coming through this area. Arrived here at 1:15 pm (2:15 pm) now, we are back on Ontario time again, fuelled our coach and got a nice parking spot here. Hope better than last year this is the place where we had the hit and run accident at 4:30 in the morning pouring rain then. You can read about that happening by clicking the link HERE on April 3rd last year.
a very good travel day
Set up and scanned the tv channels, and of course I go into the Flying J and check out STUFF, just because I like to. Relaxed for a while reading , enjoyed our Happy Hour. More walking about enjoying the fresh warm air, hey it is 66F loving it! And of course love the smell of the diesel and trucks, brings back memories of my days with the bus company back in  the 60's and 70's.
we parked right here
love to see these trucks coming and going
and Suzie is familiar with them as well
we right here for the night no reefer in this truck so
will be quiet on a warm night.
saw this under his trailer, wonder what it is?
Eventually time for supper and we decided an easy chicken cordon blue I picked up at Walmart this morning heated in our oven with our usual salad, just because we can.
This sure hit the spot and we both enjoyed it a nice rare treat we have not had for a while.
tasty it was
across the road is the Spiceland water tower
not much of a sunset tonight but interesting
We had a very nice travel day, now to relax after a tasty supper, and enjoy another movie we have on DVD, Yard sale stuff that we have.  A nice short travel day tomorrow.
Hope you enjoyed your day as much as we did and thanks for dropping on by.
only 278 miles today

Heading further south to warmer temperatures and hot sunshine.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another great night for sleeping in the forest, so dark and so quiet. Up nice and early, watched the news, computing and coffees, then just before 7 am I got a nice final walkabout this campground about a mile or so.
Then we packed up our satellite dish, secured the coach and on the road by 8am. A little further today than we have been doing, 305 miles (490 kms) is the plan . All easy driving 1-95 south to I-20 west. Enjoyed stopping at 4 rest areas just to stretch and one at noon to enjoy a nice light lunch.
taking the back roads to I-95
I-95 south a wonderful quiet drive
another place we read about in our books
Fort Bragg
spotted this nicely painted water tower
kinda cool
further down the road a tourist attraction
South of the Border, love their tower too
We passed a few places along the way, we have been to a few times before on the East Coast, in particular Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and surrounding areas. no need to stop this time. We are on a mission, a slow one but a mission. Just boogied on down the road, tapping our feet, and trying to dance while driving (hmm) to the tunes on our Sirius satellite radio.
Arrived at our destination shortly after 2 pm fuelled up the coach. Nice that we can do 500 miles on a tank of gas. And the gas price $2.27 a gallon with our 5 cent discount with the Good Sam card. Now this was the best deal have gotten so far this winter, no complaints here at all, Saved lotsa  money. That is .78 cents a litre Canadian Compared to about  $1.00 a litre or more back in Ontario, We put in 200 litres that just saved us $44.00 in CDN funds on this fillip alone. With all the free camping and parking spots so far and the fuel savings think Suzie is cooking supper tonight and Denny's is right here. Once we fuelled up and parked right away into shorts and t-shirts feels awesome at 75F.
These Flying J's are always busy, but we like the option of secure parking here and the easy fuel lanes and discounts for fuel as well. The option of many food choices right here is always good too, and tonight we will make use of that option. Something on the menu I like and Suzie as well. What the heck she is doing supper.
we settled in for the night , a few walkabouts and reading
do have 22 high def channels on tv if we want
love the fuel price for regular gas!
About 5 pm we headed into Denny's for supper not too busy yet and good service.
Started  with a  caesar salad to share , it was huge that could have almost been our meal.
very tasty Caesar salad
large bowl .
Suzie ordered the Bourbon Chicken Sizzlin' Skillet that she enjoys.
very tasty
And I ordered  the Crazy Spicy Sizzlin' Skillet with extra hot sauce on the side and for 99 cents 4 tortillas.
these were very tasty filling meals
and of course we each brought 1/2 of it home
maybe a lunch or snack at sometime
Just a nice travelling day getting where we wanted to go. Relaxing, enjoying the warm air and sunshine and a very tasty meal out with my sweetie.
todays journey 305 miles
Glad that you dropped on by to see where we are and hope y'all had a great sunny warm day as well, wherever you are .
Back on the road in the morning a shorter drive to Georgia.

Hey That's us !
Not a bad night at all 42F at 5 am and warming up slowly. No rush today just going to stop at a Flying J this afternoon. I did enjoy a nice walkabout the campground for a couple of miles enjoying the fresh air and scenery. Had another coffee, stored  our satellite dish and hooked up the car. We ready to go.
She has been waiting a long time
for Halloween
lots of nice cabins here
General lee's Cabin
We left the campground about 10:15 and stopped in Maryland to add a bit of gas to our coach so we could make it to the Flying J. Pennsylvania was $2.99 a gallon. Maryland $2;85 and the Flying J $2; 40. A no brainer will fill up here and stop for the night and enjoy free parking as well. Added 60 gallons of gas and saved $32.40 a vey nice savings, help pay for our repair yesterday.
Through Maryland. North Virginia the into Virginia, Managed to by pass Washington DC no problem , clear sailing all the way just a bit of slow down around Frederickburg, Stopped at a couple of rest areas to stretch and make lunch enjoying the liesurely pace.
we by passed these n problem
glad we are heading south instead of north
nice travelling along here
Base Quantico? FBI headquarters?
a bit of slow down but sitting high in the coach
we can see what is going on
Arrived at the Flying J fuelled up and parked just after 3 pm. Relax a bit, do some reading after a few walkabouts, happy hour and then whip up supper. It is raining but we cozy inside.
We are secure here now
spotted this boat at the pumps, 3 massive outboard
motors on the back, that sure would be quick !
heating our English Muffin on our Blue Flame
Supper tonight a very tasty one. Our Canadian Peameal bacon on an English muffin, with egg cheese and tomato for me. Added a few potato chips and this did the trick today.
quick and easy a nice treat
that was it for our day
Still pouring down rain. and this posting is pretty well done. So time to get my Kobo going and back into some Jack Reacher escapades. Maybe even watch a bit of TV later on. We have 35 local channels on our antenna so will enjoy something I am sure.
Thanks for checking us out and hope y'all had a wonderful day.
148 miles today.

Snow stopped, roads good and back on the road with a very nice travel day

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
It was cold over night 26F at 5am (-3C) and we had a bit more snow but not too bad. We toasty warm inside so no problem there, much warmer when we don't have to open our slide.
After coffees, computing and a walkabout the Walmart for a few more purchases, checked out tires and lights,  secured our coach and hit the road at 8:15 am. The roads were good, dry, no wind and the sun came out about noon, really warming up the day.
lots of ice on the front of our coach
snow and ice on our car
the roads are bare and pretty dry
After we stopped at the Indiana welcome centre and made a bite to eat for lunch and a nice walkabout. Once past the welcome centre a few miles not much signs of snow. Took the southern by-pass (465) around Indianapolis that we like, no slow downs and a great road.
Now after lunch Suzie can have a nap, no need to navigate. Back on I-70 east  the bypass around Indianapolis and to the Flying J in Spiceland, we have stayed at before. Just a nice easy drive.
I think this navigator needs a rest
The by-pass right here, miss the city and the traffic, easy-peasy
A nice relaxing travel day and no real hurry, we planned on 274 miles and arrived at the Flying J in Spiceland Indianna . At 2 pm but now in Eastern Standard time it was 3 pm. We pulled in topped up our propane tank and gas tank then just pulled around and got a nice parking spot in the RV parking spaces. Temperature here was 61F (16C) and sunny love it ! So got a few walkabouts enjoying the sunshine and warm weather feels good to stretch my legs again.
all parked for the night
Now for supper tonight Suzie decided that she would like to grab something at Denny's. So I guess I don't need to cook. Hmm , but I have a plan, passenger wiper blade needs replacing Again! I checked out what they had and got a much better quality one. A few minutes later that was taken care of, and I checked e-mails relaxed for a bit then we headed on in for supper.
They were not too busy and we had great service. Loved some of the pics inside some retro stuff.
there we are in Spiceland !
from days gone by
Suzie's Omellete
my spicy chicken skillet
Well supper was tasty I wanted a new menu chicken item , but it was so new they did not have it in yet, (guess the chickens are still growing) so I settled on the spicy chicken Skillet that I like and Suzie the Philly steak omelette both meals were excellent, cooked to order, we thought about taking some home, and split a desert, well no take homes and no desert it was that good. Many years ago we went to a Denny's and did not enjoy the meal at all, but since then we thought we would try it just lately, they have changed the menu we have found mostly so far much better food and service. We are not much into large chain restaurants as a rule.
We scanned for local Hi def channels on our antenna  and picked up about 50 , so lotsa choices, we found a John Wayne and Ann-Margaret  a 1973 movie Train Robbers , we both love these old westerns.
That was it about it for another great travel day.
Thanks for joining us and hope y'all had a good one as well.
274 miles today
