What a wonder evening and warm night actually ran our AC for a bit before going to bed, nice to have full hookups again.Early morning walkabout the campground , so peaceful and chatted with a few people here and there. Then headed into Buckhorn for a few things and fill up the car with gas at the Rez. only .86.9 cents a litre a good deal here in Canada only $3:38 a US gallon.
Time for a light lunch then another walkabout and enjoy our e-readers in the very warm afternoon shade.
Then every half our or so putter around a bit, have a nice long hot shower and prep our large 10 lb Turkey to see if it would fit on our Weber Q 100. Picked it up the other day on sale only .99 cents a lb it was a 10 lb bird lotsa eating here for $9.91.
all thawed and ready to go |
directly on the grill and ready to go |
lid close no peaking for 2 hours |
A new neighbour pulled in right behind us with a brand new class c and a brand new Shaw satellite dish and receiver. Asked if I could help him set it up. No problem, he plumbed the tripod like I told him set the dish on and we did the settings for here. checked his connection and no signal from the receiver ( my tester tells me that) so we ran the cable through their slide and right to the receiver. And no problem excellent reception and they good to go. Need to have their coach wiring looked at I think.
our Turkey done to perfection at 5 pm 180 F internal temp moist, juicy and crispy on the outside |
Gotta love a turkey on the BBQ |
What another great relaxing summer day as the summer is winding down, we will take all the sunshine and warmth that we can get for the next little while.

You've reached a new limit grilling a turkey on the Weber. Great.
ReplyDeleteThank Bill, I was not sure it would fit but really turned out amazing on our Baby Weber Q. Just like everything we cook on it , low and slow is the trick and no peaking.
DeleteWe've done five pound Chickens on the Weber but now you are giving us new ideas. Going to have to try a turkey.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
It worked wonderful just like the chicken only longer, and was exellent
DeleteWe had to fabricate an additional spacer to raise the lid for a Thanksgiving turkey when camping in Mexico. They do turn out awesome! Glad yours fit, enjoy those leftovers!
ReplyDeleteI got lucky, was gonna spatchcocking it if it did not fit, but this just fit perfectly.
DeleteNothing like a turkey on the BBQ either.
I've been thinking about smoking a turkey in our Traeger. You remind me I need to do that or it won't get done this year. Fall is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteLove smoked Turkey too, you better get smoking before you head on out.
DeleteIf I would have put a chicken on our Weber here and left it there for even one hour only it would have been so blackened that I would needed a hammer to open it up. Have no idea how you can do a whole turkey this way.
ReplyDeleteI just preheat on high for 15 minutes, turn to lowest heat setting, rub the bird with oil and spices, directly on the grill and close the lid. No flare ups just done perfectly, same Weber Q for quite a few years. Do you have a Q 100?
DeleteMaybe your regulator is defective, should not burn. on low.
DeleteThe turkey looks perfect. In contrast to your running the AC at night, we run the fireplace to keep Pat warm in the living area and it's in the high 40's in the AM and 60's-low 70's during the day. Been in the mid-high 90's at home and I'm not missing it a bit.
ReplyDeleteThe turkey was wonderful, thanks.
DeleteVery seldom we run our AC as a lot of times we are dry camping so we took advantage of it.
Well, now you have done it! A turkey on the Weber Q. Amazing and it looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, we love turkey and the price was right, so i bought it then tried to figure out how to cook it without turning in the oven, so glad it worked and was amazing.
DeleteI would never have thought of a turkey on my Q. You're an inspiration, George. The Weber company owes you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike the turkey turned out wonderful too.
DeleteTurkey looks wonderful! I had no idea you could cook a beautiful turkey like that on the grill. I just wish I wasn't down here in South Texas or else I would have driven to your place and begged for a bite!
ReplyDeleteIt was so very tasty we had lots to share.
DeleteYou can cook just about anything on a Weber Q. grill, they are amazing.
