Nice drive to Bobcaygeon Lift Lock #32 and enjoy the quiet times here with friends after the Labor Day weekend.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enalarge it
Just another nice day here in paradise and loving this weather, warming up again for a few days. Nice walkabouts early morning then ran a few errands, home for a wonderful light lunch.
Read for a bit then decided to make a nice country drive (about 20 minutes) to Bobcaygeon and stop by the cemetery to say Hi to my Dad at his final resting place who has been gone now for 20 years and his wife Shirley who passed away in 2011. Have so many great memories of wonderful times we had over the years and many of them in Bobcaygeon.
While in town I drove around checking out some of my old haunts here and reliving a few memories of way back then. Had to stop by the Lift lock #32 just because, that's what I always did every time I was in town, some 40 odd years ago. Not a lot has changed still has the small town cottage country feel in most places.
Bigley's across the river
nice store but too pricey for us
the old swing bridge is still there on the main street
and operational for the tall boats
going through the lift lock
Main reason I made the trip here
to remember my Father
On the way back I stopped at Kawartha Winery to see if they had an Apple wine that Suzie likes, and yes they did so picked up a bottle for her to savour.
One very huge Inukshuk here
wonderful old log cabin is the Winery
tasting room

Now back home to enjoy more reading in the shade until our neighbours began "Happy hour". So not wanting to be anti social we joined them for a while. Great conversation and a few snacks we all had a good time as usual, soon this years Happy hours with these people will be done, we depart here Thursday morning.
yummy snacks
Eventually we head home about 5 o'clock preheat our Weber Q to grill a nice pork loin roast, about 45 minutes to 150f internal temp. Add to our salad and was exactly what we wanted and leftover too= perfect.
pork loin and a cored apple
with cinnamon in the centre
tasty , yes
After supper while out side reading, we heard, then saw a pileated wood pecker again, chopping away at the trees looking for dinner. This is twice this week we have spotted him/her I assume the same one.
Now as I took the garbage out I was able to catch a bit of a nice sunset through the trees, best we can get here.
While enjoying more of this wonderful warm evening Jim and Sharon walked by with Max , Suzie got another doggie fix. What a great way to wind up another wonderful day.
Max wants to be petted by Suzie
no problem there.
This warm summer weather has come back again for a few days, that we don't mind at all. Soon wrapping up our stay here then relocate for a while, just cause we can, and love the life style. Very dark now at 9pm but still quite nice out here, but time to head inside for the night.
Thanks once again for stopping on by.

What a perfect way to wind up the Labor Day Weekend. Cool nights and a warm sunny day up to about 83 f very nice in the shade. Nice walkabouts by myself and with Suzie, loving the wonderful fresh country air.
The end of Labour Day weekend signalling the end of summer. Holidays over, kids back to school, so many people packing up all day long. We remember when, but so nice not to deal with that anymore. And so nice that the campgrounds will be quiet once again.
We are camped on the road to the dump station, a lot of sites do not have sewer but we do, so the rigs were heading down and back until early afternoon, then all was quiet. A steady stream for a couple hours.
we are on the road, down to the dump station
so waving good bye to everyone leaving
 .
By 2 pm most everyone is gone, so quiet here now it is amazing. Now we did get to enjoy more wonderful reading time in the shade and it was just perfect!
For supper tonight I felt like a feast of chicken wings and had some in our freezer. Thawed them out and marinated all day with olive oil and spices to grill on our Weber Q.
Got a few more walkabouts done between chapters in my book then about time to whip up supper. Preheat our Weber Q, make a tasty salad and some celery and carrot sticks as well as cauliflower with a dip, boy did we have a chicken wing feast, even some leftovers for lunch too.
about 20  minutes on our Weber,
turning about every 5 minutes were
 done to perfection
celery, carrots, cauliflower suicide sauce
and blue cheese dip
sure did the trick
That was it for another nice relaxing day keeping busy people watching, reading and walkabouts.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and if you have the urge make a comment, we love to hear from you.

Had a small poem I have shared for years, (on Facebook) so suitable for today
 and love it,
memories of many years ago.

Twas the night before school started, when all through the town.
The Parents were cheering... it was a riotous sound!
By 8 pm the kids were washed and tucked into bed...
Where memories of homework filled them with dread !
New Pencils, new folders, new notebooks too !
New Teachers, new friends..
Their anxiety grew!
The parents just giggled when they learned of this fright-and shouted upstarts:
Go to bed it's a school night!

A great Sunday with cooler weather and saw a Pileated woodpecker tonight.

Where are we today ?

Yup fall is in the air, great night for sleeping, windows open a bit and so nice and cool, extra blankets soon needed.
Furnace on this morning for a few minutes to bring the temps from 48f inside up to high 60s . Then a nice walkabout first thing with some morning mist (fog) in the area.
love the morning mist
as the sun comes up
Up near the the entrance is a few huge rocks near the edge of the campsites almost the size of a car, amazing to see. Apparently left here from the "ice age" more than a few years ago.
Got a few more coffees down and even got Suzie out for a walkabout the park, was nice to get her along for  the exercise. A good group today playing "Holy Board" (washer toss). Because of the long weekend a large turnout, we don't play anymore. About  2 hours or more of hanging around and playing a game that we don't really enjoy that much anymore.
good crowd today
A nice walkabout around the campsites in the "Forest" , The campground is pretty well full this weekend.
huge sites in the forest
but Huge bugs too

this lovely pool is quiet this morning
but packed in the afternoon
After a nice light lunch and a couple more walkabouts, we enjoyed our e-readers in the warm afternoon shade, as you know we love our reading time. Even got time to cut my hair and trim my beard again, Suzie does the finishing touches for me, Quick easy and very reasonable. (almost free is good) a new hair trimmer every 8-10 years for $15.00 is sure worth the investment.
Then time for supper, gonna grill a nice wild pacific salmon filet , seasoned with Old Bay seasoning, lemon slices and parsley to add to a tasty fresh made loaded salad with some Muskmelon (cantaloupe)  made for a wonderful light, healthy and filling meal.
about 10 minutes or so on the grill
perfect
tasty? yes
After supper enjoy another wonderful evening. We heard at first then spotted this huge Red Headed (Pileated woodpecker) searching for food in the trees, so nice to see them here.
Pileated Woodpecker
Now to wind up another great day here as the temperatures are cooling off. Before calling it a night and heading inside shortly after 8 pm. When it gets too chilly for bare fingers.
Thanks for stopping by and hope your Labor Day weekend Sunday was as nice as ours.

Adam and Eve Rocks, cooler weather and home made soup for a perfect September day.

Where are we today ?
clic on  pic to enlarge it
This morning it was quite cool (45f) and remained that way all day did not get much about 65 F. So needed a sweater and longer pants for most of the day. But heck we just not used to it. The heat wave will be coming back next week again.
So today a was a good one to make a large pot of homemade Turkey Noodle soup from that huge 10 lb turkey we cooked on our Weber Q last Sunday. We ate for 5 days with that Turkey for $9.90 and still some in the freezer and lots more soup, now that was a great deal.
Got the carcass boiling at 6:30am for a couple hours and made a wonderful broth,. While that was going on I got a couple nice walkabouts the campground and noticed the wonderful sumach in the morning sun.
looks so colorful in the morning sun
Then a quick trip into Buckhorn just down the road for a few supplies. Spotted a sign for the "Adam & Eve Rocks" so had to check it out. A wonderful spot to check out these huge glacial rocks with a nice story attached to them.
this is them
On my way back down the road spotted these wild turkeys running down the shoulder. Such a nice site to see right here in the village. Where is the turkey hunters when we need them? Great eating.
Now home and the turkey broth is ready to strain, pick the bones and add some fixings. Onion, celery, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, bay leaves, garlic, spices and egg noodles.
The soup was done in time for lunch and once again so tasty, perfect for a cooler day.
love home made soup for lunch
Then some nice afternoon reading time in the shade , kinda cool but dressed for it. Reading a new science fiction novel Seveneves by Neal Stephenson 880 pages and I am hooked. Can hardly put it down.
But we we got invited to Emile and Moniques' for Happy hour at 3:30 so had to go, just because we can. Chatted for a while told stories and exchanged ideas, Steve and Gail stopped by to join us as  well. Then time to head home to whip up supper.
yup we happy
For supper tonight pan fried Basa fillets with fish crisp on our Weber Q.
As I have mentioned before
the grilled lemon is so juicy
Added that to a salad and cantaloupe and had a very nice healthy tasty meal.
was wonderful
Now enjoying a cooler evening outside reading (dressed accordingly) until things cool down and time to head inside.
Hope you had a wonderful day as well enjoying this much cooler weather and thanks bunches for stopping on by.

What can I say? This is our lifestyle.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Just another day in paradise here. Got a few nice walkabouts nice and early then a quick trip to a truck repair place in Bridge North to pick his brain about the overheating of our coach engine. The best he could do was to bring the coach in maybe next week sometime and check a few things out, maybe. He thinks it is the clutch fan but I don't think so, the engine clutch fan still seems to be working.
So investigation and testing will continue. Back home by 9 am, another walkabout then discuss
dinner tonight. We still have leftover turkey to use up last day before the freezer and soup tomorrow.
Now after  a light lunch, chat with a few neighbors and a walkabout enjoying our e-readers in the shade and this wonderful weather as summer is winding down.
love the view from our campsite
Later on a friend Jim stopped by with Max and Suzie got another doggie fix.
That's Max he gets a treat
Our good friends Emile and Monique stopped by for "Happy Hour" and we enjoyed some lively conversation with them for a while before supper.
Emile and Monique
Soon time to whip up supper. Tonight more leftover turkey heated up in turkey gravy with fresh mushrooms, over garlic mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots sure hit the spot. Not in our healthy eating menu but we can cheat when it suits us. Moderation works.
so tasty and some cantaloupe on the side
After supper just enjoying this wonderful evening outside until it gets too cool or dark then inside we go, lately about 8:30 pm.
Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to check us out.
