Farmer's Market, Strawberry Social and a campfire with neighbors.

Where are we today ?
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Just another wonderful warm sunny summer like day. Got the coffees consumed, computing done,  a nice walkabout town and down by the river about 7 am. then 7:45 a quick trip to No Frills in New Hamburg for some food stuffs to put together a Father's Day lunch tomorrow for Suzie's Dad right here at Camp Awesome.
love it down the street
by the river, so peaceful
At 9 am we headed to The St. Jacobs Farmer's Market, about 25 minutes away. This is one huge market and one of our favorites, If you have followed us for a while you will know. I have been coming here for over 40 years and it just keeps expanding. We do know when to get there and what vendors we are looking for, so is a pretty easy process. When the crowds are less we  explore a bit more.
In season right now is Strawberries and Rhubarb and all so good, lots of other great things too.
Then inside for to Hilltop Farms for our wonderful Turkey Garlic sausage that we love. Even at 9:30 there is a lineup with about a dozen staff serving people.
This is the stuff, need to be early
or they will be sold out.
No more inside crowds for us , just wander about outside, the buskers at in their circles doing their thing and adding to the atmosphere always fun to watch.
The other Vendor I always look for is the Pepperette Guy ( Kinda Like Pepperonis) I like to stock up with the extra hot ones, they are so tasty and just enough heat for me, too hot for many though. He sets up here and at Grand Bend Pinery Market.
local Maple Syrup, so good
Mexican too
horse drawn  carriage tours
We hime for a light lunch then after a dip in the pool go to New Hamburg visit Suzie's Dad, Strawberry Social there at the retirement home. always a huge event, quite a few hundred people come to share with their relatives. And of course we know so many there as well. Suzie's Dad volunteered to help hulling the berries this morning, gave him a good workout I am sure.
huge helping Strawberries, ice cream and cake
oh so good
good crowd here
Suzie and her Dad, so happy
Ok home we go still pretty hot so another dip in the pool, Even Suzie too. Now you know it's hot when she goes in the pool, so nice and refreshing.
A later supper than usual grilled a couple pork steak local asparagus and a small salad. Di not need much after the Strawberry social this afternoon. The chops aren't that big lotsa bone.
Yummy
After supper enjoying this wonderful warm weather outside. When the neighbors Helen and Barry yelled over to join them for a campfire! Well heck we are not ones to turn down a campfire and its been a long time since we did that with them, camping days many , many years ago.
No problem away we go and enjoy their wonderful landscaped yard and roaring fire. Of course we did solve many more world problems as well. Just That nobody listens.
Such a super couple
No we ended up having a busy fun day after all. when we started with nothing to do amazing how the days just happen.
Thanks for stopping by again, nice to hear from y'all.

Father's Day tomorrow and thinking so wonderful memories on my Dad.
My father passed away many years ago and sure do miss him think of him almost every day.

My Dad, such a wonderful guy, so many great memories
Small pic is me on the left, Dad and baby sister Lulu

  1. Were too far from the centers of huge population to have massive markets like this. But this makes for a quiet country life, which we enjoy so much.

    1. We have the quiet country life, but close enough to visit this market, many people drive an hour or more to go to it. Still a few vendors come with horse and buggy.

  5. You always seem to find the best markets around. I love walking through the ones we've been lucky enough to come across.

The Strawberry Social is a wonderful event at the retirement home. It's nice to see all the friends and families show up. In the retirement home that Terry's mom is at there are many people there who never have visitors. It's sad that once they go in their family disappears.
