Where are we today ?
Today was supposed to be variable cloudiness and no rain, well the weather guesser's got it wrong again. 6:30 am it began drizzling a light rain and was constant all morning until after 11 am. Temps to 10c (50f) made it not a really nice day to play outside. So we do other stuff.A comment yesterday was how do we keep track of the books we read? Well with 3-4 books per week sometimes, over all these last 9 years it is impossible to remember all the authors, book titles and ones we have read, liked and disliked. So in the beginning Suzie created and Access data base. This a sophisticated data base part of Microsoft Office. Right now it is 10 pages with a total of 1,647 book titles that we have read. She carries this list with her at all times (never know when we will find a book deal), she makes notes, changes and additions then reprints it occasionally to bring it up to date. No point in buying books that we have already read, or reading authors that we don't enjoy.

Oh yeah we put our new flannel sheets on our bed today. Other ones had finally wore out. Yep we love flannel sheets summer and winter, so comfy and cozy and very hard to find. We have used them for over 20 years. We use regular household queen sheets on our short queen in the coach. Have a pillow top mattress and to keep the sides from slipping for years we have used suspenders, hooked under from one side to the other, and the fitted sheet on the bottom never comes undone always nice and tight.
nice new flannel sheets, slip this under the mattres and holds tight |
Got visit with Ron and Loree but our main reason was to visit with Freddie. He wants to be a singer, "Ain't nothing but a Hound Dog"
Freddie's hat from the southwest. think he's hooked |
love this huge lilac bush |
after the yukky morning we finally got nice warm sunshine |
quick easy supper |
was VERY tasty |
Glad you could stop by again and hope you had a wonderful day too.

I used to work with a person that carried the list of books she had read with her too. It was a pretty long list. Me? Well, I just wing it. I have used Access but it's been a while. I used to use Access to keep track of places we had been scuba diving. We've read more places than we've scuba dived though so the list was no where near as long as your list.
ReplyDeleteIt sure helps us to keep track of the books, I don't enjoy reading most books a second time.
DeleteWell we didn't see any sunshine where I am. POURED raining all day !
ReplyDeleteShoulda been here then, was pretty nice for the afternoon, though a cool breeze.
DeleteSusie is so organized with her book list...not like me who regularly brings home books I have read before. Love your suspender sheet holder.
ReplyDeleteShe does a good job of the list thats for sure.
DeleteThe suspenders work really well too.
HaHaaaa goo Freddie dog!
ReplyDelete"we very much like what we are doing." … sigh!
It is an awesome lifetstyle!
DeleteAnother day that I'm not getting the photos (damn!) but at least I can read your blog. I can't see the Access page but I used to use Excel... set up a spreadsheet... author, title, main character, date read etc. Then I could sort by whatever column I wanted. Worked well for me.... Like you and Suzie, Bill & I always are reading something. Oh Boy... the photos just arrived on screen! Love the doggy hat!
ReplyDeleteExcel works, but Access works even better, so she says anyway.
DeleteFreddie wearing my hat. Glad you git the photos.
Paul and I have all our books on two separate spreadsheets. It is amazing how many books we have read over the past six years.
ReplyDeletePaul would go that if I put our flannel sheets on in the summertime. He doesn't even use a regular sheet.
We don't use them much either but like the feel better than cotton sheets.
DeleteThen number do add up pretty quick when you enjoy reading.
Love the book idea. Grilled romaine, now that's a first.
ReplyDeleteWe read so many books it sure helps.
DeleteThe grilled romaine was a nice treat, will do it again.
Very clever, using suspenders to keep the sheets in place!
ReplyDeleteThe suspenders work great, better than anything we have tried.
DeleteGood thing for the data base with all the books that have been read. It would be so easy to forget several titles that one has read.
ReplyDeleteBarbecue meals are endlessly inviting!
The data base works wonderful, we won't buy books without it.
DeleteThe Barbecue makes everything taste and look better.
