How to keep track of our books and a rainy, sunny day?

          Today was supposed to be variable cloudiness and no rain, well the weather guesser's got it wrong again. 6:30 am it began drizzling a light rain and was constant all morning until after 11 am. Temps to 10c (50f) made it not a really nice day to play outside. So we do other stuff.
          A comment yesterday was how do we keep track of the books we read? Well with 3-4 books per week sometimes, over all these last 9 years it is impossible to remember all the authors, book titles and ones we have read, liked and disliked. So in the beginning Suzie created and Access data base. This a sophisticated data base part of Microsoft Office. Right now it is 10 pages with a total of 1,647 book titles that we have read. She carries this list with her at all times (never know when we will find a book deal), she makes notes, changes and additions then reprints it occasionally to bring it up to date. No point in buying books that we have already read, or reading authors that we don't enjoy.

      After noon the rain drizzle stopped but was still overcast and cool. Suzie did get a lot of family Genealogy done, files scanned and documents entered. I did some research, we got a few walkabouts done.
        Oh yeah we put our new flannel sheets on our bed today. Other ones had finally wore out. Yep we love flannel sheets summer and winter, so comfy and cozy and very hard to find. We have used them for over 20 years. We use regular household queen sheets on our short queen in the coach. Have a pillow top mattress and to keep the sides from slipping for years we have used suspenders, hooked under from one side to the other, and the fitted sheet on the bottom never comes undone always nice and tight.

        Then before we know it 3:30 and time to stop by Ron and Loree's for a short Happy hour. Don't want to be rude and turn down an invite do we? On the way there passed the one Goose family by the pond. The five babies are growing fast.

      Got visit with Ron and Loree but our main reason was to visit with Freddie. He wants to be a  singer, "Ain't nothing but a Hound Dog"

after the yukky morning we finally got nice warm sunshine

     Then home to fire up our Weber Q 100, Marinated a boneless chicken breast to make a couple chicken kabobs, grilled sweet potato slices, and grilled romaine lettuce. For the Grilled romaine  recipe click here, it was very tasty.

      After supper a short walkabout and read out side for while then time to call it a night. We don't much like to cool night air much anymore. Unless a huge campfire, lots of friends and alcohol is involved (then we don't know any better). No problem we very much like what we are doing.

Doggie day care and struck it rich with a huge donation of books!

Where are we today ?

        Kinda cool this morning and overcast 11c (55f) and got to 16c (64f) and really not too bad when the sun was shining and we were out of the wind.

        We said goodbye to our friends Emile and Monique as they headed out this morning up the road about 90 minutes to Goderich a nice membership park and a very pretty town on Lake Huron.

        After they left we headed up the hill to Ron and Loree's to pick up Freddie. We dog sitting today! And everyone knows Suzie loves dogs. We have met Freddie a few times here and there and he is one great dog. Only 2 1/2 years old and a very frisky, big puppy. But he does settle down and even listens to us too.

        Then as the day progressed Suzie managed to brush a whole mess of his winter coat off and get a few knots out too.

         This afternoon our friends Rich and Marylou stopped in with couple of large boxes of books (83 in total) we went through them and managed to pick out 22 that we have not read. Not is that a deal or what? Gave the rest to Ron and Loree and what they don't want will take to the library here in the clubhouse.

         They sat and chatted with us for a short Happy hour then headed back home with Freddie. Doggie daycare done for today and was a fun experience.
         Time for supper and tonight had a craving for spaghetti so whipped that up. Real hard to do that on our Weber Q. So inside with pots and pans. And a small tossed salad.

        Supper done and still a warm sunny evening. Dart night, but we would rather enjoy this wonderful weather while we can. Reading some more is our passion.

Nice sunrise, blue skies, warm temps, more book deals and fun in the sun, does it get much better?

Where are we today ?

       Love the early morning sunrises here. Always a morning person I find that the best part of the day.

          But we getting ready to leave in the morning, been here for over two weeks and our permit expires. ($40.00 for two weeks). Actually been, dry camping since Jan 3rd. So I can do laundry today, Suzie she dust and vacuum our coach. Yep lotsa dust here in the desert.

           33 dryers and many more washers done in no time. After a bite to eat we checked out a couple more book vendors and picked up 8 more great books for ten dollars. In a couple days we will do a book exchange at another vendor. Always have fun doing these things here.

         Took a bike ride later and noticed the big tent is almost packed up, waiting until next year.

         But then time to fire up our Weber Q, grill a  couple pork chops, broccoli in foil and some home fried potatoes with onions.

        Guess what? This was our last day here at La Posa West in Quartzsite, gonna move down the road tomorrow a few miles, get some free desert dirt for 2 days, then off to Ehrenberg AZ for a week and California for a bit. Been here long enough time to get our wheels turning again.
        We just enjoyed another fine desert day with lotsa sunshine and warm temps. Hope you had a good one too.

More fun in the sun in OHIO!

Where are we today ?

Wapakoneta, Ohio

        Sunshine and gonna be  nice day again! Considering where we are the weather is awesome! Sunshine, not much wind and temperatures close to 60f. So after a few walkabouts and enjoy a brisk morning we had a bite to eat for lunch.

        Then we head on downtown to tour about a bit. Nice old buildings here and a town square.

         Then we stopped at Aldies to check out some deals there for food. Picked up a couple of thngs then next door to the Good Will store where Suzie picked up a new (to her) blouse for herself. Three bucks.

        Next stop on our tour was the was the Bookmark Bookstore to exchange some of our gently read books. We traded 18 of our paperbacks for 9 books we have not read, good deal here.

         Now we just toured a bit more and found Community Markets, a small town grocery store that also has the "State Liquor store" inside as well. Every state and county has different laws and does keep us busy trying to keep up to date.

       Then heading back home we passed  this inviting sign. A drive thru BEER CAVE!! Now have never seen one of these before! I do think every town needs one of these, maybe? At a gas station too! Fill your car with gas and grab some beer to go? HMM.......

         Back home the sun is shinning and our campsite has no wind. So with Temps about 65f it feels like about 80f.Shorts, t-shirts for a couple hours  and is awesome. The pool is inviting but way to many noisy kids for our liking today (and probably most of the weekend). So we will enjoy this great outside weather while we can.

        For supper tonight I picked up a huge slab of Baby Back ribs on sale $8.42 enough for us to get 2 good meals out of. So fired up our Weber wrapped then in foil with sauerkraut for about an hour with two baked potatoes while enjoying our books.

now we have an awesome, tasty and cheap supper

        Then a little later I made a couple strawberry shortcakes for desert. Strawberries on sale $1.68 a lb another great deal!

        So did we need all this great food? Not really but all was on sale and I did portion this stuff so we can spread it out over a few days.
        That was it for another fun  day in Ohio. pool pretty busy today with lots kids, will wait for things to slow down a bit here before going back.
