Cooler today, another successful Pa Fest and 60th anniversary celebration.

Where are we today ?

This morning started off much cooler and gonna be like this for a few days now mid 70's I find almost chilly, compared to what we have been having. Started with a nice walkabout town about 7:30 and after a few blocks was called into good friends Marc and Erin's house for a coffee. Nice to see them again and chat for a long while. Finally got home about 9:30 and of course Suzie wondering who I got talking to, small town ya know.
Just puttered around for a while and an early lunch, then 1 'clock around the corner to pay our respects to the family of a good friend Kenn who had passed away recently.

Back home and Suzie's Dad met with us to follow us down the back roads about 2 miles, to Elmer and Kay's place for a dual function at 2 o'clock. First to Celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and secondly the yearly "Pa Feast" with Elmer being Pa and Kay as Ma. They have been doing this for I think close to 60 years as well. Elmer was the arena Manager in Plattsville for most of those years too I believe.
this the place
Pa and Ma
a great story
The property here is beautiful and all set up like every year ro accommodate 200 or more people. With a pot luck meal. They supply the meat and corn and a few other things as well.
two beautiful ponds here
This year the meat is 50 lbs of pork tenderloin done to perfection on this smoker.
Suzie and her Dad before the masses arrived

the first year they rented a tent
laneway getting full
The masses arrive constantly until around 5 pm then the corn is on over the open fire and the pot luck dishes are being set out. All the time everyone is socializing and so many people there not problem finding someone to chat with and catch up. Some people we have not chatted with or seen for many many years, always a great time here.

but not possible
oh so tasty
and the deserts, amazing
Now the weather was perfect and we had a fun day chatting with a lot of people we have not seen for a long time. But now after 8 o'clock time for us to head on home with very full tummies.
Thanks for coming by today it sure was a fun day for everyone here hope yours was too.

  3. Looks like quite an event - since folks generally bring their special dish, I always enjoy pot luck meals.

  6. Glad you had a good time and catch up. It looks a fun event. I would be horrified if we went to visit any teachers on my honeymoon.

    1. It was a fun time, and not sure why I would visit a teacher on my honeymoon either but these are different times now.
