I just have to share this great news.

Where are we today ?

Another lovely rainy day here in southern Ontario, but looks like it will clear up for our departure on Thursday morning.
Had some great news from the Doc today, checked for my latest blood work results and all is good, actually better than good. Cholesterol average down to 3.75.  We have been working on lowering my cholesterol levels that had an average of 5.67 in May. August down to 5.22 still not good enough need to be below 5.1, so doc insisted I start taking Crestor to lower my chances of heart attack or stroke. So changed our eating habits, if you have followed our meals all summer a lot of chicken, fish, turkey, lean meat, veggies and fruit even oatmeal for breakfast. Consume less beer and exercise more. The results have been amazing. I have lost 35 pounds feel great, back and leg problems pretty well non-existant, arthritis pains and swelling very minimal as well and even breathing easier. Still plan to keep with this healthy eating, and exercise, we actually really enjoy it much more. (mind you we do fall off the wagon occasionally with getting together with family and friends).
Even went to my Chiropractor for a check up today, though I felt good Suzie thought it was a good idea, he did a very minor adjustment. Even he said I am his star patient with my vast improvements. So there, we are happy campers and ready to hit the road in search of more sunshine and warmer weather for the winter with lots more energy to burn.
stopped by to check on Ma's house all is good
and make sure the water is shut off
For the rest of the day we just puttered around research a few things, had our sewage tanks pumped out by George M and G Portables for the final time this year, again only $20.00. Read for a bit then a visit with our financial advisor to go over our portfolio. He has always done very well for us and insists on taking us out for a lovely meal any place we want to go. He is keeping us in this lifestyle and a nice meal out is a bonus. The Lancaster Smoke House is a place that we enjoyed once before, Southern BBQ and Cajun cooking, getting us ready for our journey south.
My choice for supper was blackened catfish, red beans and rice and molasses baked beans, Suzie had grilled catfish, caesar salad and cornbread, or host enjoyed 1/2 rack of BBQ ribs, veggies and coleslaw. We sure had a very tasty feast.

After a nice visit and excellent meal we headed back home to call it a night, not sure where the day went but it just flew on by.
Thanks again for stopping by. "its almost time !!"

  1. That health report sure is good news. I got blood work done just before I left Ontario and my Cholesterol is HIGH at 6.1 so I have made some major changes in my diet as well.

  2. Remembering how bad of shape I was twenty-three years ago and how I got fit. Now it is like I'm starting all over again. Glad you're doing so well. Keep up the good job even while you are away.

  3. Great news on the cholesterol level, George! Good job. I was in the same neighbourhood as you a few years ago but by taking up hiking and watching what I eat (well, I try most of the time) I've managed to get my cholesterol level down to 2.80 which is great for me. Keep up the good work and eat lots of that terrific looking blackened catfish!

  4. Great news, George. Eating well and exercising are both activities that give good results. If you cholesterol continues to drop, you may be able to stop taking the cholesterol lowering medication sometime. Don't know if you know of Michael Pollan's books; but, they're all very worthwhile. I've just finished the one entitled, "Food Rules: An Eater's Manual." Breaking it down into the Parts: Part One: What should I eat? Eat Foods. Part Two: What kind of foods should I eat? Mostly plants. Part three: How should I eat? Not too much. Those are his rules and they'll work for anybody!!!! Enjoy your trip south; I've be reading along. Have fun, health and happiness!
