A quiet Thanksgiving Monday, 1st time in a lot of years.

Where are we today ?
Thanksgiving Day here in Canada and the first time in over 30 years have not got together with my kids. The scheduling did just not work out, it is what it is. We enjoyed Suzie's family yesterday and really don't mind at having a very quiet day to ourselves. This gave us a chance to actually talk, just the two of us discuss where, when and possible routes for heading south this winter.
So far we have a tentative plan heading directly south to Georgia, then the Florida Panhandle, through Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California. A nice leisurely drive, visiting some places we have been before and maybe even some new places. Stop here and there, no matter we should be in warmer climates and on the road travelling along, stay in some places for a few day or whatever, doing what we really enjoy. But then again those plans can change at any given time.
Today's weather is very warm  in the high 60's F (20c) but overcast. So a few walkabouts the acreage, and along River road here. Read a bit here and there have been reading deprived lately. Fix a minor water leak by our water pump, top up our fresh water tank and just really enjoy a very nice day for this time of year.
saw a squirrel again burying a partial cob of corn
a dreary day but warm enough to sit outside, read
 and putter around
nice walks along river road
Then time for me to do what I love to do. Whip up some grub. Couple salmon fillets and a 1/2 of a pepper (acorn) squash with a touch of Maple syrup. Add that to another tasty salad with lotsa good stuff and we enjoyed a very tasty light meal.
Our Weber Q 100 doing its thing
A very nice relaxing day we had (our favorite kind). Thanks for stopping in and hope you had a great day too.

  3. If you want to get off I 10 and take the slow way, Rts 98 and 90 along the Gulf Coast are kind of fun... we found roadside stands that sold fresh fish, boiled peanuts and oranges... and... a late Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Belated Thanksgiving to you and Suzie. We had a quiet day until our daughter called but it was simple and enjoyable.
Does your route out of Ontario include going through Sarnia or Windsor? We could get together for a coffee or lunch before you head out. Either way we'll see you next summer.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  8. A little late, George, but, Happy Thanksgiving. Yes, as vagabonds, we often find out that it's actually possible to make it through a holiday without seeing the family for once. It seemed like it wouldn't be possible, but I've found it not so difficult at all. The family's there (wherever) and sometimes it just doesn't work to get to them when we're out adventuring.
I hope you have a little better luck this year than I did last year in Louisiana - Cajun country - I loved it but certainly didn't enjoy the ice storms. Not sure if that was normal or just an oddball winter - but it was cold and I took more than one tumble caused by slipping on the RV entry steps. I see that your "heading south" time is drawing near. I'll be following along with you and Suzie.

    1. Glad you enjoy cooking too, We have done that route many times(both ways) and have seen most of the sights we want to see,(posted in previous blogs) so nothing ,much new and exciting.
So much to see and do along they way it has taken us years, to see what we want, now just enjoy the warm climate, local areas and people.

  10. Planning your route South ? Me, well I just go where Google tells me to go !! LOL I want the shortest way (less gas money) plus I can only drive less than 200 Miles a day - so it takes me forever.
