Where are we today ?
Somebody had a birthday today that lives in our house and it wasn't me. To begin the perfect day for her she slept in until almost 8am! A rare occurrence and a nice treat for her. Nothing exciting today, just the way we like it. Did not need to go to Ma's house so just puttering around with a nice sunny morning. I ran a few errands and she made a few phone calls. Then at 11 am headed into Kitchener to have lunch with her Mom and Dad at Mother's Pizza Parlor and Spaghetti house in Kitchener. An interesting history here of a great restaurant that used to have 120 locations across Canada until the 1989 when they were taken over. Reopened in 2013 with two locations, one in Hamilton and the other here in Kitchener Ontario.
We have great memories of good food and service and children's birthday parties from back in the 70's and 80's.
The atmosphere was great as it used to be and service excellent as well. Our friendly waitress remembers celebrating her birthday parties at Mother's when she was a pre teen.
I ordered one of my favorites, the small lunch Mushroom Madness spaghetti with Caesar salad, still as great as I remembered. Not so small but a nice small price.
Bonus here for those that need it they do offer gluten free pasta and pizza.
Suzie had her favorite Fettuccini Alfredo w/chicken and caesar salad |
I had mentioned that this was Suzie's birthday lunch with her Mom and Dad and as a lot of places do they supplied a free very tasty desert for us to share with a sparkler on top and 6 waitresses to sing her Happy birthday!
so tasty and very rich |

Then we headed back to Camp Awesome and enjoyed a quiet afternoon. Reading for a while and I got some lawn mowing for 40 minutes until the mower deck quit. Apparently the charging system is not functioning on the mower, so I just do 40 minutes a day in sections until the 3 1/2 hours is done then start over again.
how about a nice afternoon snooze in the sun on your birthday? |
pretty good hockey for these 7 year olds. |
Overhead radiant tube heaters kept us toasty warm too. |
That was our fun day and just the way Suzie wanted to spend her birthday, sure do love this woman so easy to please.
Any who just wanna thank y'all for stopping by again for a visit.

A Happy Belated Birthday to Suzie!
ReplyDeleteI had read somewhere that Mother's was re-opening. Have to check out the one here in Hamilton one day. I worked in three of their Hamilton locations as assistant manager back in the 80s. Saw the "writing on the wall" so to speak, and moved on before they collapsed.
