This is the last day of our Civic Holiday long weekend. It is known by many different names across Canada and celebrated in almost every province. It was chosen because if its timing to give Canadians an extra holiday in the long stretch from July 1st to Labour Day around the 1st of September. To read more about this holiday click here.
It was another perfect summer day, early morning sun and its going to be another hot one. But we have nothing on the agenda, just putter around, walkabouts, chat with neighbors, compute, coffee, and read in the shade, after a busy, fun weekend it feels good. We can also watch a lot of people packing up heading home, making for a more peaceful resort.
About 4 pm we joined Rob and Pat for happy hour, with some garlic shrimp cooked on their barbie as an appetizer. We are celebrating Rob's birthday today.
tasty garlic shrimp
basting the shrimp
This was followed by a very tasty meal that Pat prepared, of fall off the bone BBQ'd spare ribs, mashed potatoes and yam's, corn on the cob and huge runny butter tarts for desert.
yummy supper
Happy birthday Rob, you can take the picture
Now that we are done we take it easy for a bit and call it an early evening, no fire tonight. Gotta love summertime.
It was the perfect day! I enjoyed every second of it!
