After our good travel day yesterday and settled in at Suzie's brother's place by the shed for a while and a great dinner with her Dad , 2 siblings and their spouse last night, We settled in a for a good nights sleep. Comfy and cozy on a cold night back in Ontario. And SO quiet here. we had a real good sleep and back up again at my regular time 4:30 this morning. Its cold out there 35f (1.6C) but feels much colder with the wind. We are toasty warm though inside. Got the usual coffee, computing and oatmeal taken care of and enjoy part of the nice sunrise through the trees here. And because of this cold weather a good one to make a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup, from chicken we cooked last week, I had the bones on the freezer. I boiled the bones for a tasty broth added the veggies and spices and let it all simmer for a couple of hours. Then about 8:30 I took a nice country drive along some backroads into Plattsville. Stopped at Pettigrew's garage chatted with a few guys there for a while catching up and picked up a couple of packages that we had shipped there. While I was there we had a bit of SNOW ! Thanks Dean for holding these packages for us. And Also thank you Dean for the cool Santa tie that I just love. I had ordered a couple of new light fixtures for our Bedroom, to replace the broken ones with the sconces that are beyond repair, Similar ones were about 80 bucks each but I found these 2 for 35 dollars CND, they should do the trick.
Then from there into New Hamburg to pick up our prescriptions we had ordered and a few groceries, plus our non alcoholic beer that we enjoy for a good price as well. Back home by 10 am Suzie was chatting with SIL Sandy in our house I finished the soup and we enjoyed a tasty lunch. At 1 pm still very cold, no sunshine and has warmed up to 37F (2.7C). Hmm not an outside day for us at all.

Where have we been this Summer ?
Hope you're surviving our Ontario weather!
ReplyDeleteWe are surviving, no problem but don't have to like it do we? Will be much better tomorrow.
DeleteYour recipe for the pork tenderloin reads and looks wonderful. I'll be replicating it the next time I'm cooking pork tenderloin. I like the new lamps you installed. Look much like the ones we had on the boat. That would be a good next project for Benno because we don't like the lamps above the bed that came with the travel trailer.
ReplyDeleteIt is very tasty thanks. We really like these lamps got them on Amazon.ca. They are compact and bright enough for reading. and swivel. as well.
DeleteNice that you are settled for awhile to enjoy family. But I sure hope it warms up for you. Beautiful but breezy back in AZ.
ReplyDeleteYes is pretty nice but colder than we like, no problem though it will warm up someday.
DeleteLove the new lights. I sure hope it warms up soon for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks we like them too.
DeleteCertainly sad you couldn't stay longer...
ReplyDeleteIt is sad but at least we missed most of the winter and really cold weather.
DeleteThe new lights make it brighter, not warmer :) But with the continued cold weather the lawn mower can stay in the shed a little longer! and the hockey season can last a little longer ... Dinner looks delish!
ReplyDeleteThey do make it brighter, we seldom every used them anyway and the others, were falling apart,
DeleteThinks there is some hockey this weekend with a couple of Grands. Dinner was very tasty.
Great recipe we will give this one a try.
ReplyDeleteIt is easy ad very tasty thanks.
DeleteWe awoke to slightly colder at -5C. Great minds think alike, I am thinking about making a pot of soup. Your new lights look fabulous. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteThanks Contessa. Soup is good in cold weather warms you up nicely.
DeleteSoup looks good and works for a cold day, the pork tenderloin looks really yummy. The lights are pretty and I like that they face down so if your reading the light is where you need it not on the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteThe soup hit the spot and the tenderloin is very tasty. These lights swivel so we can light up the ceiling as well. Really like them
DeleteWell Canada really welcomed you guys back with some cold temps and snow!!! Hopefully it won’t be long and you’ll be back outside with your e-readers!!! Your former home looks very lovely!!
ReplyDeleteSoon will be warmer and be reading outside. Our former home was all renovated and fixed up the way we wanted it. I guess was time to see and do a but of travelling.
DeleteWe are hanging out in South Carolina for a few more days . Hot and humid here. Chase that cold away for us, will ya?
ReplyDeleteHang out for a while longer not warming up here anytime soon. Enjoy the heat.
DeleteNice to see you made it back safe and sound. It can be touch and go sometimes as we all know.
ReplyDeleteThanks, nice to be back at least we didn't have to drive in ice or snow.
DeleteThe pork tenderloin looks great. Gonna have to try it the next time I get some tenderloin. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteIt is a real tasty meal worth a try. We keeping warm no problem there.
DeleteThe lights are so much nicer, more modern. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a nasty day, did you bring that with you?? haha
Much nicer today but like 15 degrees already! The wind is still strong but that dries things up nicely.
Enjoy your familiar area.
We do like these new lights, more modern like you said.
DeleteHeck no should have stayed in Wapakoneta as was 70f yesterday afternoon. Yes we liking this nicer weather is more like it, But looks like Sunday will be cold again.
We always enjoy this area. And you guys enjoy yours as well.
Your soup looks yummy as always. Isn't it nice just to be able to throw in whatever you have and there it is yum! Dinner looked delicious as well, gotta love a pork roast or two! Nice to share. The sconces look great! Lot's of light for late night reading or whatever.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys the soup is very tasty. lotsa good things in it. This pork is so very tasty. and easy to make.
DeleteWe are loving the new lights, I keep going back to admire them.
You should have brought a couple of jars of that warm Southwest weather home with you. :cD
ReplyDeleteWe tried but it did not work :<(
DeleteAt least you are now in Canada and not have to rush to beat the floods, storms and tornadoes that we are experiencing back in the USA. Do you ever feel melancholic when you drive by your former home? Do you ever question your decision to sell after all the hard work you put in?
ReplyDeleteI apologize if I am being nosy. I suppose sooner or later I will have to make my own decision and I hope I make the correct one.
We do get flooding here and even tornadoes , just not as much as in the mid states.
DeleteWe had no problem selling the house I have bought, fixed up and sold 12 over the years and selling this one allowed us to live this lifestyle. We enjoyed it for many years though. And had fun fixing it up. Now another chapter in our lives, soon we will be starting our 14th years full-time.
