Loving it here, Why Not ? The Donkeys / Burros came to visit too.

Where are we today ?

Wow, so peaceful here, no road noise, no trains,  no close neighbours, just quiet. Now this is a real gem of a primitive campground. 208 acres and over 600 huge campsites, almost like our Ontario provincial  parks but in the desert , boon docking , but our parks charge $40.00 plus a night! $40.00 a week is awesome. I am sure we will return here again.
A very nice quiet walkabout as the sun was rising then down the road to Why. checked out the gas station and store. Very nicely set up  here in the middle of nowhere.
The gas station here

love wandering about the quiet desert enjoying the beautiful
greenery here after all the rain this winter
a real treat
my giant shadow is following me
Then I headed down the road to the Why intersection  just enjoying the walkabout.
Signs for places to go.
Last year we were in the area and toured Organ Pipe National Monument on March 18th, you can click HERE to see the wonders views we enjoyed.
we were there last year
Lukeville is the Mexican Border
Texaco Station in Why
very nice restrooms here
love the murals

Back in the park Lake Wanna-Be
Wanna-Be Fishin"
the big catch
Then we just took a cruise into  Ajo to check out the town again. It is a very nice small town very scenic. Farmer's market on Saturday we will check out.
Then a must stop at  Olsen's the IGA grocery store. Nothing we need right now but will be back, they have most of everything we will need here.
Grocery store and ACE hardware all in one
town square
We checked out Darby Wells boon docking area
but not our cup of tea, too remote for our liking

lots of space here
Back home for lunch some quality reading done in the sun and shade. Too hot in the sun and too cold in the shade, so we made use of both. Only 68f today. Gonna be much warmer for the next week.
Suzie in the sun with some shade
Blue skies and sunshine all day
our batteries fully charged by noon
without tilting our panel
the sun is much higher on the sky now
A few hours of reading and walkabouts time to whip up supper, grilled a couple sweet Italian sausage to go with our salad..
sure did the trick tonight
After supper Suzie spotted  some burros/donkeys right behind our coach, knew they were in the area (telltale traces ya know) nice to see them here checking us out.
the burros right behind us
in the Wanna be lake
now a wonderful desert sunset to finish a great desert day
Fun we had today and hope you did as well. Thanks for coming on by and enjoying the desert with us.

  3. I like the Ajo Why area. It is like the old west. I marvel at what the towns used to be. I hope all of the residents dreams of fortune come true one day. Enjoy your stay.

  4. We are going to have to check out that side of Coyote Howls next time we head that way. It looks perfect...space plus a dump station and water.

    1. We don't need anything to do, other than getting away from the cold weather back home. Outside every day enjoy the desert scenery, fresh air and exercise.
