A wonderful cool comfortable quite nights sleep and up early as usual. Got a couple walkabouts done then we began to secure the coach for travel. Stopped by the dump station and pulled out at 8:15 am heading east along hwy 86 towards Tucson.
what a wonderful drive, great scenery and so many Saguaro Cactus |
excuse the bugs on the windshield |
this huge one right by the road, awesome ! |
couple of cool water towers Patsy.. Wizard of Oz in the right? |
heading into Benson |
Service our coach quick and friendly, nice to see Tom still here, welcomed me back |
We left the coach there for a few minutes and picked up our favourite Broasted Chicken from Junction Express, cooked to order and so moist and tender. That took care of another craving and our big meal of the day, Oh yeah and left over chicken, love it !
While enjoying lunch here spotted this cowboy sauntering down the road into town bedroll behind his saddle and of course his gun in his holster.
nice large sites here, we want our patio in the shade at this time of year |
and another nice desert sunset. |
today's journey 181 miles |
Thanks for dropping in to join us as we slowly wander back home. Some longer travel days and stop for a while, that's what we like to do.
Where have we been this Winter
I've pronounced it like sneeze HA-chu-ka but pretty sure it is pronounced WA-chu-ka, from a friend who was stationed there. Great museum of the Buffalo Soldier on base. The home of Army Intelligence only wanted a picture ID to get on base and gave us a map.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Museum tip Jeff think we will check it out.
DeleteHowever it is pronounced glad you are enjoying the warm weather you come down here for.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
We enjoy the southwest every winter no matter the temperature, the wonderful scenery, dry air, clear blue sunny skies, wide open spaces AND no snow is the best part.,
DeleteWa-Chu-ka is the way we were taught. We have stayed in that park and loved it.
ReplyDeleteIt s a very nice park we will enjoy our time here like always.
DeleteYou have the pronunciation right George, we were on the site right in front of you when we stayed there last fall. It is a nice park.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, I learned that from you so it should be right lol...in a nice area as well. Not too hot here.
DeleteWe loved being there, made our own fun and met a lovely couple there. They ended up buying in the back section and have their travel trailer on the site. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe can make our own fun anywhere we go. Chatted with a few ice people here as usual.
DeleteWe loved saying the name Huachuca!
ReplyDeleteIt is kinda cool to say.
DeleteYes it is Apache, lots of interesting things in this area.
ReplyDeleteNever been to Huachuca. Need to look this one up.
ReplyDeleteWait until Saturday night when we turn our clocks ahead...oh wait...AZ doesn't change the clocks. Crap.
Lots to see in the area , might check out a couple of things.
DeleteYou are ever so slightly moving East and just a tiny bit North. Hope the journey is a slow one.
ReplyDeleteWe have 34 days and like to enjoy the journey along the way.
DeleteWe've never stayed at Huachuca City but have been close. We may be heading that direction towards the end of this month. Sounds like your winter is almost behind you. Have a great trip north.
ReplyDeleteOur winter south is winding down, this park is pretty nice and love the rate, pretty close to lotsa stuff.
