Where are we today?

This morning at 4 :30 am when I got up was not too bad, about 40f outside, but a north wind about 25 mph was kinda chilly out there, but sure beats the snow and blizzards they are having back home and arctic cold weather.
Just before 7 o'clock I whipped into Yuma to pick up a few food supplies we needed and home before 9. Wonderful, got that done.
Our friend Melinda wanted to go to Mexico and check it out. Gerry and Suzie did not want to go. No problem I always enjoy wandering about over there.
About 10 am we headed on out only 5 minutes away from here.
Walked across the border and we explored all the wild, vendors trying to sell us there wares. Git used to saying no thanks and keep walking. I have fun with them barter if we want something for 1/4 the price they ask or walk away. Somebody else will sell it to us for the price we want to pay.

We stopped by my dentist to have a minor adjustment done to my new denture, no charge. No problem, got that done and we stepped outside for a a couple of tacos. Fish Taco for me $1.00 and a shrimp taco for Melinda $1:50. Sure hit the spot and very filling.

Back to the campground shortly after 1 pm after a fun morning exploring. A nice 5 minute line up US customs is rare.
Once home I did a walkabout the campground nice and sunny but still kinda windy, no shorts today.

By now it was 3 pm Happy hour and whoever wants can drop by. I prepped the 1/2 turkey we picked up at the Roadrunner Market in Quartzsite, preheated the Weber Q and set it on to cook away. It was about 6 lbs and I set on a trivet with foil under to roast it slowly. About 2 hours on medium and turned out perfectly.
|
Fits on our Weber Q 100 nicely ready to go. |
Happy hour came and went with most of our friends here and as the sun was setting and cools down the turkey was done.
|
looks pretty good to me |
Added a salad and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. And yup we have lotsa leftovers. Love poultry of any kind. Now I can make more soup ! In a few days. Lotsa things to make with leftover turkey.

That was another nice desert day we enjoyed, a bit cooler than we like (will get better) but with full sun all day we will take it and enjoy every minute. It got to 65F today and the weather gods say 70f tomorrow, looking good for the next while. and soon will be getting even warmer.
Thanks for stopping by and hope your day was wonderful as well.
Where have we been this Winter
Crikey ..... Mexico sure is colourful, aye?? I could go a bit of that turkey leg.
ReplyDeleteIt is so colourful; and lotsa fun much nicer now that later when it gets real busy. You could have had a bite if that if you were here.
DeleteI'm always game for a day in Algodones - so much fun!
ReplyDeleteIt is fun even if just looking around at all the sights and sounds.
DeleteWe like going to Mexico too, especially before Christmas when it isn't crowded. Enjoy your sunny days.
ReplyDeleteIt is much nicer before the after Christmas Crowds.
DeleteWell your Mexico is somewhat different than ours but still a great place to visit. Good that all is well with your new dentures. Sooty about the coolness, wish I could send you our extra heat.
ReplyDeleteWe always enjoyed everywhere we went in Mexico, but especially the small towns and villages. We don't mind the cool at all at least it is dry and the sun is shining and its not cold....
DeleteDefinitely need to make any shopping trip early and short this time of year. Crowds are everywhere.
ReplyDeleteNot too busy here yet, in the new year will be very busy as you know.
DeleteWe have so much fun walking around that city. Every time we go there is something new to see and experience.
ReplyDeleteWe always enjoy checking out a few things here.
DeleteLooking forward to going to Los Algodones soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is an experience and we have fun there. Lots of STUFF.
DeleteGlad you & Melinda had fun while I did all the laundry and gave Tucker a bath !
ReplyDeleteWe did have fun , you should go too!
DeleteMy wife likes to disappear into those caves when we visited Mexico
ReplyDeleteThey can be quite interesting.
DeleteI'll be going down again, too, to have my dental work checked. And to get some new glasses. I don't know when, but no hurry. And I want LUNCH - my dental appts were all at 8:00 am, so too early to eat. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe by the time you are done you can have lunch, that's what happened to us. If we around come for a visit.
DeleteDon't have too much fun, save some for the rest of us! :cD
ReplyDeleteThere is enough fun here for everyone and lots to spare, come on down.
