Now in Rockport Texas, yippee!

Where are we today ?
Had a good nights sleep at the Flying J in Baytown Texas. Up early as usual and after coffees', computing and a walkabout the parking lot, we are on our way shortly before 8 am.
Saturday morning and not a lot of traffic. We are bypassing Houston, choosing some back roads to Rockport Texas. All good paved roads thru a few small towns, nice country side and even some speed limits of 75 mph on two lane roads!
200 miles today
Of course we are in Texas and passing quite a few large oil refineries here and there, some in the middle of nowhere,
oil refinery
Not far from away from the Flying J we came across the Fred Hartman Bridge a beautiful site to see. There was some kind of fundraiser going on with hundreds os\f people running over the other side (This is at 8 o'clock saturday morning too!)
nice bridge
Then we just carried on enjoying the great weather, and peaceful uneventful drive thru some nice flat countryside.
a nice drive (74mph!)
Now about 11:30 and we are driving thru Port Lavaca and thinking about lunch. Suzie had a craving for an BIG MAC. Can you believe it? She has had this craving since we left Ontario last fall and our schedule has never worked out. So there we pull into the parking lot grab a couple burgers and away we go. We both happy and I did not have to make lunch. Soon in Rockport.
across the bay
they are building a new bridge
here we are
Arrived shortly after noon, picked out nice sunny site and got set up. Membership park but this one is $13.00 a night (pretty expensive for us) but includes, 50 amp, cable tv and free wifi too. We do enjoy the area thou. Once setlled chairs out and enjoy some reading in the nice warm sunshine, we have been missing for a while.
Then I can fire up our Weber, grill some potatoes, garlic sausage from home and heat up some canned corn, add a slice of garlic bread and we are doing just fine. Suzie happy=me happy!
really hit the spot
There ya gio we here in Rockport/Fulton Texas for a couple weeks, enjoy the weather, the area, visit with a few friends then????? Probably start heading back to Ontario.
Thanks for stopping in and hope you had a great travel day with us.

The internet kinda comes and goes here not sure when this will be posted.

  5. Looks like you found the perfect weather and a nice looking site to go along with it. Enjoyed your pictures as I have never visited in that area before. I am hurting for some of those good Canadian Garlic Sausages, they look awfully good on your grill. Have a great Sunday!

  8. I agree....the garlic sausage always sounds so good. Are they comparable to anything we are able to purchase here in the US?

    1. Italian sausage or mild sausage looks like it but does not have the taste.
