Always something to do......

Where are we today ?
New Hamburg Ontario
Off to Plattsville 8 am to see what happening this morning and chat with the guys for a bit. The sun peaking thru the clouds gave an interesting look to the sky this morning too.
Even Jake wanted to get into the action as well
Back to the farm and really noticed all the tree branches that had been cut down, the trees were dead anyway so needed to be cleaned up.

Now I threw together a large pot of turkey soup from the leftover carcass that I had frozen from Thanksgiving day. Celery, carrots, onions, rice, water, a few spices and potatoes, just boil and simmer for a while until all the flavors intermix into a wonderful tasty meal.

Then put on my sweatshirt to make sure I am ready to head for Florida, might even get a chance for a glimpse of the Famous Mouse down there.
Then Suzie and I headed to Waterloo, pick up ma and take her for her very first hearing aide. Not bad for 85 but I am sure it will improve her quality of life. She will be able to hear much better and understand the tv and conversations more clearly now too.
After this she took us for lunch to Angels Diner for a very tasty lunch. I had my favourite here,  Montreal Smoked meat piled high on rye, with mustard, coleslaw a huge dill pickle and fries, oh so good!
50's style diner
After an awesome lunch (thanks ma) took her home, checked out her tv and phones, all work well with the hearing aide and know she will be just fine.
Then a quick stop at the super Walmart around the corner for a couple things and head back to the farm. By the way this Walmart is completely solar powered, the roof completely covered in solar panels, with this sign inside the door.
Now we can get a few more chores done, tidy up a bit and clean the outside windows on our coach.
Then at 4:30 back to Plattsville to watch our grandson practice some more hockey, his skating is really improving, in just the last two weeks.
After skating was over headed to their house for supper and Jessica made a wonderful turkey dinner, with roasted potatoes, asparagus, caesar salad and shrimp cocktail, so tasty.
yummy supper
The real reason we are here is to celebrate our Grandson's birthday as we have done every year for the last six winters. We celebrate a month early as we won't be here when the actual date happens 5 weeks from now. He will be 9 years old this fall.
Jess even made this wonderful Gluten free chocolate/raspberry layer cake so moist and tasty.
yummy

Well thats it for today, we were busy and had a nice visit with ma, daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons just before we head out on thursday.
As our one grandson said 6 years ago "Goodbye Grandad and Gramma, will see you after Christmas when the snow is gone"
Thanks for stopping by again, its been a busy day.

  1. It was a busy day. Anytime we're around family we have a lot of things to do. It's good. I like it like that. I just need them to move south with us in the winter and north with us in the summer. Work gets in their way though.

    1. Yes that four letter word "work" does kinda get in the way of life.
