Monday Update

Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario

He was pain free and slept pretty good last night.

He is trying to eat but that is not working so well. So he is drinking Ensure.

We won't about the stint unfortunately until tomorrow. It will help with his colour and the itch. The doctor prescribed reactine for the itch.

Physio is to come in to get him walking & build to build up his strength back, without falling down, so he can come home.

The doctor is going to ask a dietitian to stop by tomorrow to see if there is something he would like to eat. I can bring anything from home to get him to eat. Now I have to put my thinking cap on.

He has an IV for now, but maybe tomorrow it can come out.

Friends of ours Trish and her father Don came to visit us in the hospital. A very enjoyable visit. Doing a lot of catching up back and forth. We both really enjoyed their visit. She mention that her husband Mike and daughter Jordan also wanted to visit. One is working and one is in school.

It is a winter wonderland today. We are expecting 15 cm or 6 inches of snow today. This has been a first experience of driving in snow in a long time. Thank goodness for winter tires. I took it slow while driving today. Not a nice day to drive with snow and blowing snow.

At lot of people seem to be concerned that I need to take care of myself. Not to worry. Last night I went to bed about 7:30 and didn't get up until 5:30. I consider that a really good nights sleep. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I don't understand why my writing is surrounded by white. I'm sure Geo would know how to fix it.

Again, thanks for all your prayers and comments, they are greatly appreciated.

As usual, one day at a time.

  1. Thanks for keeping everyone up dated . Tell George that have been reading the blog for years . Don't think I have ever commented before , just don't remember for sure. His blog got me started in reading all the RV blog on his side bar and interested in RVing ( but not cooking) . Hope for the best for both of you . Vern in Boise Idaho

  3. Thank you for the update Suzie! We are glad to hear that you are looking after yourself.

When you copy and paste into Blogger this is usually what happens. Try coping what you are writing into notebook first and then copy and paste into Blogger, or just type straight into Blogger if you don't want the white "highlighting" to show. I hope that helps.

Please give George our best and let him know that we are all rooting for him. We are sending you both lots of positive vibes.

  4. Please keep us all posted on what is going on. Upbeat attitudes help and some of your good home cooked food will help a lot I am sure. Give him a big hello from Mexico. Keep on taking care of yourself as well.

  8. Nice to hear of the efforts the hospital staff is making to get your hubby back home.
Glad to hear he is sleeping and you as well. Hopefully they (you) will find something appetizing to George and he'll build up some strength from the physio.
thank you Suzie for keeping us informed. The white border is maybe just your 'signature'. :)

  10. Hope the reactine helps. With my corn allergy I have a full body itch. I don't find much help with the allergens and most have corn in them so no good to me. What I have found to get some relief is hot water, hot bath works good gives me some relief for at least a few hours. I sit in the water until it gets too cool. It helps so I can sleep otherwise I itch all night. Hot shower helps but hot bath works better. As hot as you can stand works best. Hot tub maybe good too but I don't have one.
    Hang in there George

  11. I hope George will be able to show those Physio people how to do a proper walkabout and Suzie do you think if you were to take George's Webber Q to the hospital and park it beside his bed it would pick up his spirits and perk his appetite. Nothing like having your best friend at your bedside. All in jest of course but sometimes we have to look for sunshine where there only appears to be darkness.

  12. Thank you Suzie for keeping us informed. I'm happy you are getting lots of rest and eating well. Have you knock yourself out wouldn't be much help. Wishing they get him squared away to come home soon. Continued support and prayers for you both.

Good to here they are able to keep him mostly pain free so he can get some sleep. Also, glad to read you are taking care of yourself. Continued prayers and positive thoughts coming your way. Hugs.

  19. We appreciate your posts Suzie. Praying that today will bring George some relief. Glad that you took driving in the sone slowly. The first time I had to do that after twenty plus years I was a mess, white knuckles in all, but I had to do it in the dark and on a freeway.

  20. Thanks for the date Suzie. Appetite is fickle thing but George likes to eat so I'm sure he'll find something that works for him. Glad to hear you are taking care of yourself as well. The winter driving is not a pleasant thing I'm sure but it sounds as if you're getting back in the swing of it quickly. Stay safe.

  21. With all you are going through I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to update your "blogger family"...do not worry about the white marks that is not important. You have enough to deal with.

From personal experience, I can tell you that in order to take care of your loved one...you first have to take care of yourself. I am glad you are doing that...eating properly and getting enough sleep is vital but I am sure you know that.

Please know that not just me but from reading your blog many many people are rooting for you both. Sending nothing but positive vibes your way.
