Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario

The tele video call worked ok. There was a lot of feedback from microphones which hurt his ears. We had a special line to call so that he could hear through his blue tooth hearing aids. So that didn't work. They tried several different options but all created feedback. The doctor on the video was in the dark, so more light was created around him and we turned Geo so he could read lips.

He understood the majority of the conversation. Chemo is also not an option at this time. It would be too tasking on his system.

The focus is to live as long and as well as he can. Manage his pain and any other symptoms. He is being put on the list for hospice here in Stratford. The hospital is in no hurry to have him leave. If the jaundice gets better and he can be strong enough to go to London, he will be re-evaluated.

We are trying a steroid for him so he can maybe use the computer again. His time is short, couple of weeks to number of months. That was the doctors best guess. If he should improve, Stratford doctors will communicate with London and they will reassess him.

Saturday am
When I arrived this morning, he was more alert. He had conversation with his nurse and also his doctor. This got him thinking of protein and calories, including beer. He can have whatever he wants. No restrictions at all.

We are working on getting whatever he wants.

One Day At A Time.

  9. Oh Suzie, thank you so much for the effort to keep all George's distant fans updated. Such a very hard time for all. I can't imagine what you are going through. As you said, One Day at a Time, with hopes for the best times possible for the next part of this journey. As someone said, we are all sort of extended family, some of us having the delight of actually meeting you two in person, and others who know you through the consistent daily blogs that George managed over the years. Maybe we all need to get out our Weber cookers in honor of your wonderful husband.

  12. I think Sue said it George when she wrote, 'One Day at a Time, with hopes for the best times possible for the next part of this journey.' Working around the yard today I thought of you probably half a dozen times wondering how you were doing and what you were thinking. Thinking of Suzie also and how she is coping with everything. It's hard to imagine this has all happened so quickly and you guys are not in Arizona somewhere...……...

  20. I did a great pork tenderloin on the Q tonight that I think would make you proud George. (and I didn't need the wind screen!) I washed it down with a great Shiner Bock they had on sale at Safeway for $5/six pack. You can't begin to realize how much those of us that have been fortunate to know you have benefited from your knowledge.
    You guys keep on smiling!

  23. You and George were the first bloggers we ever met. Reading you for years and then we found ourselves in Q just down the road from you two. I remember seeing him walking down the road and telling Ken..that's George! On his way back I ran outside to catch him and he invited us over to talk for awhile one morning! We certainly overstayed our welcome I'm sure, but it was the best time! Then every year after we've stayed near you so we could visit for Happy Hour every day :) We love you guys! Thanks Suzie for keeping us informed, I know it must be difficult times for you. Always in our thoughts and prayers! Hugs too!
