Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario
Good day for George. Ate well at every meal.
He was offered to get in a wheelchair and have a tour of the facility. That is what we did.
Outside his door to the room, looking down the hall to the right.
A room where visitors can meet. This room includes toys for children.
Fountain in the spring.
Outside patio, I think she said they have 100 chairs.
Another visiting room, 3 in all.
The spa room with jets in the tub.
Bathroom for me, for instance, if I stay overnight. Complete with towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner and tooth brush and paste.
Large shower.
The next couple of pictures are of the kitchen area. Because George was in a wheelchair, he got an up and close personal tour. I'm sure he enjoyed seeing where his food was prepared.
George looking outside.
He took a picture of me relaxing in the power lazy boy chair.
Bill Wilson and friend (sorry drew a blank on her name, maybe too late) visited.
Jeff Plews our financial stopped for a visit.
Our first visitors were doctors from our doctors office. We were totally surprise see our Dr. Erin Heisz and 2 of her associates visit. Very pleasant surprise. She even asked me to keep her updated on George. She did say though, that she gets reports. Surprise for sure.
My sister and her husband stopped for a visit as well. George was talking about ribs and our brother-in-law volunteered to make them for us. They will cook them at their house 10-15 minutes away and we will all eat in the dining here at the facility. Very nice of them to do this.
Overall, George had a great day. Big improvement from even 2 weeks ago. I think he had an afternoon snooze, but I don't know for sure, as I know I had a snooze.
He is still trying to type on his computer. This morning he had read the blog and comments before I even got there and I was there at 8 am. Typing skills still need to improve, but he is getting there.
One Day At A Time
Recently you said getting him home was a goal, home isn't always a place, home can be a feeling. Having you spend time with him makes him feel at home, love has a wonderful power to transform difficult times into proof of real commitment, like you two share. May God continue to be with you both. -Mary
ReplyDeleteI echo the sentiments which Mary has shared with her comment.
ReplyDeleteSoo happy to hear George is feeling so much better, and great that he was up for a tour of the building.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice place to be.
Hugs
George is looking much better then a couple weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to be especially when it brings you closer to Family and Friends. Like Mary said it makes everyone feel like they are Home.
Keeping you both in our Prayers.
It's about time.
That picture of George in the wheelchair looking out the window is classic. He had to be figuring out a way to get outside for his next walkabout. You really need to bring him his hat. He may very well feel even more at home if he and his hat are united. It's encouraging to see him up and interested in taking a tour of the facilities. Good stuff George:))
ReplyDeleteI just realized what is missing, Georges hat! I think as long as he is getting up and sitting in his chair he needs to be wearing his hat... just a thought anyway. He is looking better. lots of visitors. And someone will be making him ribs. Getting a little spoiled George? LOL Well OK why not.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear and see George up in a wheelchair. This is a wonderful improvement. It looks like a very welcome place. Great job, both of you!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see George in a chair and smiling. His positivity is amazing. Love to you both. May you feel Gods presence with you.
ReplyDeleteBoth Mary and Al express my thoughts well - 'Home is where you're together' and George should have his signature hat! Great that ribs are on the menu for tomorrow! ... and beer ???
ReplyDeleteI think George needs his vest!!! Enjoy those ribs!! I’m glad you are in a nice facility where you both can stay. Prayers ....
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lot nicer place then being in a hospital. Sounds very welcoming and how wonderful for you, Suzie, to be able to stay if you want. Good to see George up and in a wheel chair and getting around. Continued prayers coming your way.
ReplyDeleteSo glad George is feeling better. One day at a time seems to be working. Moving around in the wheelchair will help George for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing wonderful George!!! Keep it up -- you will be home before you know it!!
ReplyDeleteGreat, upbeat report. I echo the comments of everybody else. Thanks Suzie.
ReplyDeleteWow it's great to see George looking so good. What a wonderful facility. It's so nice that there is space for all the visitors coming by. Looks like the food is pretty tasty ;)
ReplyDeleteGeorge is looking really good! The facility is absolutely beautiful! Nice that it caters to visitors and children too. I'm so glad you can stay when you want and that you have a place to shower etc. Kitchen is gorgeous. Glad George had the use of a wheelchair and could get out and about for a bit. I love the picture of him looking out the window :) Awesome pic of you and him together! How nice you'll be getting ribs soon!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very nice facility and glad George is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteVery nice place. Lots of windows. You will enjoy those features won't you George. You will be more comfortable there for sure Suzie.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is doing what they can to boost George's spirits but for me to have your personal doctor and her associates visit is top notch. George you all loved by more people than you will ever know. Lovely to see you moving about in a wheelchair. Ribs and beer for the next dinner. Sound like a plan.

ReplyDeleteGeorge, I do not know how many lives you have touched but you have certainly touched mine. I loved the picture of you looking out the window. Such a lovely place would costs thousands of dollars monthly in the states.
Enjoy your ribs and I hope they bring you a new six-pack :)
Nice looking spot. Fantastic kitchen. Nice to have a guided tour as well. I'm sure you will be giving them some pointers about food prep!!! Lots of light, looks very clean and the tree looks very festive.
ReplyDeleteRibs and beer, sounds like a meal fit for a king. I have no doubt you will enjoy it very much.
Nothing says caring like family doctors coming to check on you. You know you have a great family doctor when they do that!! Speaks volumes about them and you. You touch everyone you meet in ways that you can't begin to imagine. A positive attitude goes a long way, a smiling face, a twinkle in the eye and good sense of humour spread more good cheer than you can imagine. Thanks for sharing yours with all of us out here!
You are looking good George! I am happy that you are in such a lovely environment there with great facilities for your family and friends that visit you. Thanks for sharing.
