Where are we today?
Stratford, Ontario
I realized yesterday afternoon that I was updating for Thursday. So this is actually Friday's update. Oops.
We had a meeting to review the options that George and family have. His first choice is to be able to go home for as long as possible. He would like that invironment, to be home and have family visit in our home.
2nd and 3rd options are a form of palliative care. There is new hospice facility here in Stratford (https://www.rotaryhospice.ca). The CCAC representative suggested that he be put on the list now and then he might turn crucial he would be bumped up to the top of the list.
We will see how things go over the weekend. There is no immediate need to make a decision.
One day at a time.

Where have we been this Summer ?
Where have we been this Summer ?
Glad to hear there is no rush. Hoping George will soon feel well enough to return to writing the blog. I do thank the family for keeping us updated. Praying for all of you.
ReplyDeleteHope all those happy memories of travel help you as you move ahead. Thanks for the updates and give our best to George.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We are sure he'd like to be home but still a huge decision.
ReplyDeleteBills sister volunteers at that hospice.
Take care, more hugs.
Thank you for keeping us updated, we do think of you both throughout the day. Please pass on our love to George.
ReplyDeleteFor over the past decade 'home' was where the RV was parked, so many great stories you have shared with us from those adventures. Thank you for sharing this journey with us also. Praying for the best for George and your family.
ReplyDeleteKeep being strong George. Rock Glen and the staff are praying to see you back this summer.
ReplyDeleteAnge and I send you smiles, prayers, memories....and a sunshiny future.....and special strength for you, Sue !
ReplyDeleteI hate reading this. Please give George and Suzie our love and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get George home again. Hospice can help you there. They are wonderful. Love you George! I hope you are getting a few walkabouts.
ReplyDeleteSuzie and family I sincerely thank you for keeping the Blogger family up to date on his health and well being...I am sure you have other thing to do that is why it is specially meaningful at least it is to me.
ReplyDeletePlease give George our love and cyber hugs to you and the rest of the family.
It is a very good idea to put your name on the list, you can always decline if your name comes to the top. For peace of mind, it's a good idea. Some help at home is also a good idea, even if it's not every day, you should push for at least three days a week if you can. Help at home will allow you both some time apart and allow Suzie to get out and about to do things like groceries and errands while knowing someone is there in case you need something.
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to tell you what to do but speaking from personal experience sometimes the information overload is too much and we can't think straight or far enough ahead to know what might be helpful. We think of you often every day and will miss your company this winter.
Thank you for thinking of us all in bloggerland and giving us updates, it really is appreciated. We hope George is able to come home and as always he, and all of his family, are in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteSusie, Thanks for the updates ........ Thinking of all of you …… I’m with George on getting home and feeling more cozy and relaxed…… just hoping that will happen real soon …… A couple days ago when it was mentioned that they were trying to get George’s interest in food going, all I could think of was George stopping along the road at his favorite sausage stores and stocking up on every kind of sausage imaginable to throw on his Webber !!! He loves a sausage dinner and that nightly salad ……
ReplyDeleteWrapped with the memories are good thoughts for all .....
Thank you for the updates! Again, you all are in our thoughts and prayers daily. Hoping he gets to come home soon!
ReplyDeleteI am saddened to read this!!! Praying George is able to get home and enjoy that new apartment!!! Please take care and know you are all in our prayers!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the updates...George and Suzie are special friends even if only through blogging!
There is a lot of quality Home Support available in Canada and you should take advantage of as much of it as you can! It is impossible to put myself in your situation but I know that given the opportunity, I would want to be home for as long as possible. However, I know you will decide what is best for you and you know that your friends will support you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Suzie. Good that you have options and I'm sure we all would agree that being at home is the best option. Of course having your name in at the hospice would be wise just to be ready in case it's required.
ReplyDeleteWe're sending our positive thoughts your way.
As always thank you for the update. I hope they allow George to go home soon. I think that he will enjoy being at home in a comfy place with his best girl Suzie. Still thinking of you and the family through the day and sending deep thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThe important thing is to know what George wants to do and to follow his instructions. So much happening for you all at the last minute. I hope that things slow down so that you all have time to catch your breath.
