Milder again last night more windows open and at 5am 52F (11C) this is wonderful. Not a great sunrise but by 7 am the sun was shining and warming up very nicely. I got a short walkabout around the block then took a wonderful country drive just enjoying the peaceful back roads.

Puttering around for a while outside it was actually a very warm sunny day 67F (19C), then at 11:30 we heading east on HWY 401 and North of Toronto ON HWY 400, about a 90 minute drive. When we left Plattsville. For another visitation (Celebration Of Life) for the mother of a lifelong friend of mine Jim Kelly. We went to public and high school together, worked on cars and motorcycles, chased girls in our teenage years So many memories we made together, his mother baking us cookies what a wonderful lady she was played games at their house etc. I am also the God Father to his son Adam. We still manage to keep in touch with him over the years on occasions not nearly enough though. We will have to try more often than weddings and funerals. Though Jim did come for a visit to see us last summer

We left the Celebration of life just after 3 pm, nice to see Jim and his family there again it has been so long also a few other people from probably 40/50 years ago wow, has it been that long? We just chatted, snacked and enjoyed a celebration of her life. All the pictures and I remember so many of them as well.
From there we headed to The Galt Arena for 5:30 to watch Grandson # 4 play another game in his hockey tryouts for major AA peewee teams. Always good hockey at this level.
We got there 5 minutes late just missing him score the first goal of the game, darn.

Where have we been this Summer ?
That was a BEAUTIFUL sunset. Do you make it a practice to walk at least 2 miles a day?
ReplyDeleteThanks Betty it sure was, My aim for walking is 3 to 5 miles a dyad most days I am in the range.
DeleteNot just a nice weather day but a day with friends gathering and sharing, GS growing strong into manhood and GD#3 with sparkling eyes for g-pa. We are also of the age now going to more remembrance services than weddings, but still a time for old friends ot catch-up and form new bondings.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day all around, seeing the grands grow up, and yes we are at the age when we go to more funeral than weddings. Always nice to catch up with Jim and friends whenever and wherever we can/
DeleteIt certainly was a days of mixed emotions but such a lovely sunset that Mother Nature provided. You did a wonderful job of capturing it.
ReplyDeleteIt was a day of doing things and Mother Nature made it all better.
DeleteWhat a roller coaster of emotions in particular with two rememberances in a row. Glad you were also able to de-stress by spending time with your family in particular the grand kids. Your granddaughter looks at you with so much love in her beautiful eyes. You are a lucky man!
ReplyDeleteYes Ms B It was a roller coast day/ weekend just like the ones we passed at Canada's Wonderland. Spending the time with the family and the grands made my day. She does have beautiful eyes that smile at me. I sure am a lucky man, god has blessed me many times.
DeleteBusy day some sorrowful some happy and finally a beautiful sunset to wrap it all up.
ReplyDeleteYes JO it was but the beautiful sunset made it all that much better.
DeleteGeorge we are wondering if by chance the Jim Kelly you visited is the same Jim Kelly who used to work at McNally in Bellville? If so he should remember us. Our boat the "Diesel Duck" was built there.
ReplyDeleteYesterday sure was a nice day and today is promising too, nice pictures.
Marlene I don't think he is the same one, Jim was a Master Plumber and usually worked in the Toronto Barrie area and an avid Muskie fisherman.
DeleteThe weather was wonderful for sure.
That is a full day and totally understand the mixed feelings.....
ReplyDeleteIt was a very full day , but glad that we did it.
DeleteGranddaughter #3 is just getting cuter and cuter :) Your grandson sounds like an awesome hockey player! So sorry about Jim's mom, she sounds like a wonderful woman! You certainly have good memories of her and of course Jim. Your Wonderland must be the equivalent of our Marriotts. Very popular in the summer months! Beautiful sunset to end your day!
ReplyDeleteShe sure is getting cuter that's for sure. And yes he is a very good hockey player and loves the game.
DeleteJim and I go back a long way and his family especially his mom was part of it , great memories.
Wonderland is a huge attraction with some real amazing rides. Very popular and always busy.
The sunset made our day.
I like shots of the mist just above the ground.
ReplyDeleteThanks Larry it was kinda cool to see.
DeleteIsn't it something to have so many grandkids you have to keep track of them by number? Not to mention how much fun it is to remember all the birthdays! :cD
ReplyDeleteYes it sure is fun, eight is enough I think. . The birthdays are on a spreadsheet with reminders LOL...
