Rain, sunshine, cold, warm, this is the southwest desert, love it!

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Yup the weather Gods got it right. rain all last night and this morning , nope no long walkabouts today. at least for a while anyway. So got my coffees and computing taken care of, no walkabout in the rain and mud, a good day to do laundry, with 3 loads needed doing Suzie sorted stuff and I took it into the large laundry mat in AJO at 8 am. No hanging on the clothes line here today. The nice thing about the rain it washed all the dust off our vehicles, including the solar panels and windshields as well and keeps the dust down and making the desert greener and about to flower some more.
our view this morning
still raining
a little muddy
This is a nice large clean laundry with newer front loading machines and commercial dryers.  So that was taken care of quickly and home just after 10 am Suzie put it away and we enjoyed a tasty light lunch.
a nice laundry here in AJO
must have been an driver in restaurant at one time
Then the sun came out ! Yahoo. Puddles drying quickly and the mud going away.
another good page turner
So chairs outside and back into my page turners. Finished another John Sandford book and right into my next one of the Prey series, #20, this one be Storm Prey.
interesting clouds (Casper the Friendly ghost? maybe)

I took a short drive around here as the muddy roads were drying up, more greenery but no new desert flowers yet, Some nice fluffy clouds and very warm until 2pm. Then the clouds came back and so did the rain, so back inside to keep dry and warm. The temperature dropped from 68F to 52F in 20 minutes,

most the puddles have dried up
still a few muddy sections
We can be very comfortable inside our home and get some more reading done, just because we can. We prefer being outside but we take it as it comes.
a few muddy spots around will dry up soon
this lasted an hour then the sunshine cam back
At 4 pm the temperature went right back up to 64 F, no more wind and sunshine. Perfect!
The weather gods said it was supposed rain this afternoon, and had planned a stir fry for supper. But heck this is BBQ weather so we enjoyed a couple of Turkey Burgers on our Weber Q. Just because we can. Gotta be flexible here with this lifestyle . works for us, Stir fry tomorrow for sure. I can store our Weber tomorrow before we hit the road Thursday morning,
turkey burgers and English muffins warming in foil
loaded burgers did it for us tonight
Then at 6:28pm a sunset, according to our neighbour playing Taps  and with the clouds setting in this was it below, did not get any better.
a wonderful ending to a pretty decent desert day
changing weather but worked out wonderful
Thanks again for stopping by to join us in our desert adventures. hope y'all enjoyed your day as well.      Found this information below on line about daylight savings time, and think it may be true. No matter I love it! Here in Arizona they do not do daylights savings time and everyone seems to adjust perfectly. I think this old Indian said it perfectly!
love it !

  1. It's that rain that that helps those flowers blossom. It was a good day for laundry and still nice enough to fire up the Weber. Hope that mud dries up for your departure.

    1. I was hopping to see some more blossoms before we leave but have not been disappointed at all this year. Got the laundry done while it was raining and enjoy some afternoon sunshine and another BBQ.

  5. I sorted and Tom went and did three loads of laundry today, also. It was a good day for it. As I mentioned on facebook we did luck out and did not have any more rain earlier. Then around 6 o'clock we a short sun shower. I did see those rain clouds head south earlier. The nice thing about the desert once that sun comes out everything is dry. Really like that you have a neighbor that plays taps at sunset.

  6. I love the smell of the desert after a shower! I liked the name of the laundromat, its former location looked like it could have been a Sonic at one time.

On one of your pictures I see a big propane tank at the end of the road...does someone live there full time?

A very wise insight from an Indian elder.

    1. Yes there is something so special with the smell of the desert after a rainy think for the creosote bushes, Yes I was thinking a Sonic as well. That propane tank is by the washrooms for the hot water heater for showers.
Some people can live here full-time they can use their sites 12 months if the year but think is might get pretty hot in the summer, Yes he is a very wise elder.

  7. Love the Indian!! Hang on and tie everything down ... the only thing we haven't had is a lot of wind and it's now heading right for us.

    1. The Indian says it like he sees it! We have had wind gusts here 20-30 mph most days but have been able to get away from them, by moving around the coach.

  8. that sure does seem like a lot of rain for this time of year in the desert! I loved the old comment about DST. Perfect, and so very true. I like my sunshine in the morning anyway, so do wish I lived in a standard time zone state like Arizona, but probably wouldn't want to live there all the time. Maybe we can convince Oregon to go standard time, but rumor has it they are going the other way. Eek.

    1. It has been a rainy winter season here the bonus is all the greenery around. I like the standard time as well being s a morning person but we take it as it comes.

  9. Here in Mexico we are in the same time zone ( as of last Sunday ) as Arizona and home. However Mexico only changes their daylight savings time on March 31st. Usually we leave April 4th or a bit later so we don't have nay changing to do this year. I just wish that the snow melts sooner than later and then we still have to deal with two mountain passes :(

    1. Wow like the no time change here, but we still need to go through 3 times zones to get back home, Jet ;ag over the next month, Glad we have no mountain passes to deal with.
