A very nice last sunny day here, was windy but found shelter and enjoyed the sunshine and warmth.

 Where are we today ?

Another mild night for sleep 50 F at 5 am and we had no more rain ! Wonderful. As the sun rose and warmed up the desert, I headed out for my first walkabout,  2 miles today enjoying the fresh smells of a rain washed desert and all the greenery that happens because of it.
another nice desert sunrise
Enjoying my morning walks here with this lush desert growth this year, the best we have ever seen.
everything is so green!
Even my shadow enjoyed it
Shortly after 9 am Suzie wanted to take a drive down the road to The BLM Gunsight Wash a couple of miles south of here, just to look around check for more flowers and free range cattle that we saw when we were there. No more blooms and did not spot any cattle this time either.
Gunsight Wash
Then back home we enjoyed a tasty light lunch and I took another walk and a  drive around here for my last long look. Then stored our weber Q, check the oil on the coach and tire pressures before we head out in the morning. Our plan is overnight at Casino Del Sol in Tucson (if we can) and into Benson Friday morning to service our coach and our car, they are both due. Then further East to New Mexico.
Then enjoyed a wonderful warm sunny afternoon temps 65 F enjoying our reading outside protected by the wind in front on our coach. What another perfect desert day. We are sure going to miss this area, the weather and desert views.
these sunny skies all day
love it
Not far from us is a garbage  dumpster and a recycle for aluminum cans. Nice to see they do that here.
this propane tank for the washroom and showers here
this is number 3 of the 5 restrooms they have here
not fancy but clean
over view this afternoon
the mud is drying up very quickly
cool shadows in the hills around us
love these skies here so wonderful
Soon time to whip up supper. Tonight a stir fry with some veggies, spices etc.. ground turkey and the rest of our  Rice A Roni.  Yummy it was, and now we have a bit more leftovers just enough more a light lunch for me.
very tasty it was

Dishes done and relaxing for a bit , and our neighbour plays taps again, 6:30 pm so I whipped outside to catch our last sunset here this spring. Gotta get back on the road again in the morning making our way back home. Heck gonna miss the playing of taps every night at sunset, maybe we will run into him again.
our last desert sunset here in Why and
did not disappoint us.
That was our last day after 2 weeks enjoying this wonderful southwest desert weather and scenery. But The hitch itch has set in gotta move on down the road again and slowly make our way back to cold Ontario weather. But get to visit with more family , the grands and friends.
Thanks for taking the time to drop for in a peek to see what we are up to.

Rain, sunshine, cold, warm, this is the southwest desert, love it!

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Yup the weather Gods got it right. rain all last night and this morning , nope no long walkabouts today. at least for a while anyway. So got my coffees and computing taken care of, no walkabout in the rain and mud, a good day to do laundry, with 3 loads needed doing Suzie sorted stuff and I took it into the large laundry mat in AJO at 8 am. No hanging on the clothes line here today. The nice thing about the rain it washed all the dust off our vehicles, including the solar panels and windshields as well and keeps the dust down and making the desert greener and about to flower some more.
our view this morning
still raining
a little muddy
This is a nice large clean laundry with newer front loading machines and commercial dryers.  So that was taken care of quickly and home just after 10 am Suzie put it away and we enjoyed a tasty light lunch.
a nice laundry here in AJO
must have been an driver in restaurant at one time
Then the sun came out ! Yahoo. Puddles drying quickly and the mud going away.
another good page turner
So chairs outside and back into my page turners. Finished another John Sandford book and right into my next one of the Prey series, #20, this one be Storm Prey.
interesting clouds (Casper the Friendly ghost? maybe)

I took a short drive around here as the muddy roads were drying up, more greenery but no new desert flowers yet, Some nice fluffy clouds and very warm until 2pm. Then the clouds came back and so did the rain, so back inside to keep dry and warm. The temperature dropped from 68F to 52F in 20 minutes,

most the puddles have dried up
still a few muddy sections
We can be very comfortable inside our home and get some more reading done, just because we can. We prefer being outside but we take it as it comes.
a few muddy spots around will dry up soon
this lasted an hour then the sunshine cam back
At 4 pm the temperature went right back up to 64 F, no more wind and sunshine. Perfect!
The weather gods said it was supposed rain this afternoon, and had planned a stir fry for supper. But heck this is BBQ weather so we enjoyed a couple of Turkey Burgers on our Weber Q. Just because we can. Gotta be flexible here with this lifestyle . works for us, Stir fry tomorrow for sure. I can store our Weber tomorrow before we hit the road Thursday morning,
turkey burgers and English muffins warming in foil
loaded burgers did it for us tonight
Then at 6:28pm a sunset, according to our neighbour playing Taps  and with the clouds setting in this was it below, did not get any better.
a wonderful ending to a pretty decent desert day
changing weather but worked out wonderful
Thanks again for stopping by to join us in our desert adventures. hope y'all enjoyed your day as well.      Found this information below on line about daylight savings time, and think it may be true. No matter I love it! Here in Arizona they do not do daylights savings time and everyone seems to adjust perfectly. I think this old Indian said it perfectly!
love it !

Where have we been this Winter?

Monday, March 11, 2019

A weird weather day, sun shine, rain, warm, cooler but we enjoyed it with no wind.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Heck I slept in until 4:15 this morning, pretty good I think, If we were back home in Ontario that would be 7:15 am! So I am doing good.
With an interesting sunrise I got out for my first mile walked in the fresh morning air. Enjoying the scenery  along the way and could hear some burros off in the distance. Baying.
interesting sunrise today
this Barrel Cactus with buds
hope we can see the flowers before we leave
mostly overcast today but
did get some hot sunny periods
Then a quick trip to Ajo for some fresh veggies  to keep us supplied. Back home enjoying the warm morning sun then an early light lunch. A nice 65F at 10am with a slight breeze. Then by noon very hot in the sun at 72F . Did get another walkabout checking more interesting scenery .
this is cool
Even spotted a few more desert flowers around.
Another interesting design
Then about 12:15 skies clouded over and we had about 30 seconds of light raindrops. Just enough to put our chairs away and head inside.  10 minutes later back outside again. Enjoying the afternoon fresh air and comfortable temperatures with no wind, perfect.
supposed to get some rain , but we will see.
Now we can enjoy a few more hours reading outside until about 3 pm and started to sprinkle again, Not heavy but too heavy to enjoy sitting outside. Not a problem we can be quite comfy inside, a bit warmer a dryer.
Was going to BBQ some chicken tonight , but now down to 52F and drizzling so gonna bake it in the oven, just a bit of garlic powder and low sodium Soya sauce,  A treat we have not had for many, many years some Rice A Roni got on sale at Olsens today .99 cents. (good for 2 meals) May as well use our propane oven inside to keep us toasty warm.
have not had this forever !
The chicken was done nicely and so tender another deal as well,  . 77 Cents a lb cost us $1:21. Just added a bit of chopped fresh carrot and broccoli to the Rica a Roni mix and all in one meal.
a tasty meal done in an hour warming our coach on a cool rainy afternoon
sure did the trick tonight
this was our afternoon no chance of a sunset tonight
not a lot of rain to wet the ground so far
We did run our Genny for a couple of hours, just because we could, It needed a good workout anyway and to top up our batteries, and charge our devices, Plus use our electric heater for a while as well. may as well when it is running!
Not a bad day at all, we have had some amazing weather here, The odd day of cooler and rain makes us appreciate the warmer sunny days. Sure much better than back home with all that cold, snow and ice, We will take this any day.
Glad that you dropped on by and hope you had a decent day as well.

Where have we been this Winter?

Sunday, March 10, 2019

A nice quiet relaxing Sunday here in the southwest desert.

 Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Another cool night great for sleeping and 39F at 5 am. But as the sunrise so did the temperature quickly. First walkabout was nice and spotted a few more wildflowers.  Nothing exciting on our agenda today, excellent , enjoy this wonderful weather as long as we can.
gonna be a nice day
love these trails and roads through the park
this wildflower almost in the middle of the road
Now in shorts again by 9:30 another perfect start to the day. Couple of more walkabouts then a light lunch. Cruise around the desert for a bit took a few more pictures and home to relax in the shade of this perfect day. But did get 3 miles walked before the day was done.
fields of these yellow flowers
California Poppies
these almost look like twins
Now our afternoon enjoying this wonderful warm sunshine enjoying our e-readers. and watching the clouds float on by.
think this cloud could be a
Roadrunner ,what do ya think?
We had our happy hour chatting about our travel plans a bit still written in chalk the way we like. I whipped up our salad and put a small pork loin roast on the grill for tonights supper.
done to perfection, moist , and lean so tender and juicy
Added to the salad and the last of the home made apple sauce from Suzie's Dad we enjoyed a very tasty meal. and of course some leftover pork for lunches.
so tasty one of our favorites
Eventually time for a sunset and was nice but not a great one, we take what we can get and enjoy everyone while we are here.
that is it for today
Now with the day light savings time this morning in most places except Arizona we are now 3 hours difference from back home in Ontario. But we will soon be heading through those time zones and get right back into it again. Plus will be cooler weather and start spring all over again.
Glad that y'all dropped on by and glad you enjoyed you day as well.
