Where are we today ?

A nice quiet nights sleep at the casino and up early enjoying coffees and some computing time, waiting for the sunrise then eventually hit the road. A few more miles and vehicle service to get done along the way. As the sun came up shortly after 6 am I took a nice walkabout this area and another through the casino caught a nice parking lot sunrise.
|
a nice sunrise again |
|
soon ready to hit the road |
Then at 7:30 am we headed to the Pilot in Tucson to fuel up then down the road to Benson to the Super Lube Plus to get an oil change and grease job on both, the coach and the car. Plus we get a free crash (car wash) as well, BONUS! Have been stopping here every year for the last 13 years usually twice for their fast friendly service. We got there at 9 am and were done by 10, down the road in Benson topped up our propane, we good to go again.
|
love their service here fast friendly and efficient plus they know us by name when we pull in |
Then heading east on I-10. we stopped at the Texas Canyon rest area we love, the scenery and amazing rock formations. Time to whip up an early lunch at 11 am just because we can.
|
have checked out this area a few times , very interesting scenery |
Then the Texas Canyon rest area, really have to stop here. and a good place to make lunch.
|
love these rock formations |
|
Cochice and Geronimo used to hang out in this area |
Then more heading east in I-10, over the years have never seen this many desert flowers. they are amazing.
|
wow, yellow desert flowers |
Not long we entered into New Mexico and another time zone. lost an hour.
Only here in the southwest do we see these never ending trains, they go for miles.
|
a nice eastbound drive on I-10 not too busy |
Mind you we did have a windy day, mostly head winds up to 37 mph , kinda slowed us down a bit, but not really a problem , probably ate up some fuel economy but we have lots of fuel so not an issue.
We arrived at the Deming New Mexico Walmart at 2:30 pm (3:30 local time) for a nice spot to stop for the night. Checked out the store, came home a relaxed a bit,
|
not to many rigs here right now |
After getting set up and a shopping list I headed back into Walmart to stock up (this pays our rent) And bought a pre cooked rotisserie chicken for supper, just because we could and only $4:98) good for 2 meals and maybe even some soup as well.
|
added to our salad was wonderful |
Chatted with a neighbour for a bit, whipped up dishes and I managed to catch nice sunset in the process. Thanks for the heads up Suzie, I was doing dishes.
|
now that was a very nice ending to another good travel day |
Now to kick back and enjoy a nice quiet Walmart evening and watch a movie or something on the tube, before we head on out in the morning.
Thanks for the visit and hope y'all had a great day as well.

at Rock Glen Family Resort ?
Where have we been this Winter?
Another nice overnight spot. Great to see some wildflowers along the way. Continued safe travels.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your blog did not get caught in Google's Ides-of-March changes to Picasa and Blogger.
It is a nice spot that we usually stop at, get some shopping done too. I have not had any problems with Blogger and Picasa. I don't understand why others do?
DeleteWe passed that way a few days ago, stayed in Lordsburg at Veteran's Park. Very quiet there.
ReplyDeleteIt is fine here we like the convenience to the store and security, very quiet here as well.
DeletePutting in the miles, stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo we are making our way down the road.
DeleteIf there are not too many rigs there, whey would you park so close to your neighbor? I can never figure out why anybody would do that...
ReplyDelete
DeleteLOL , because this is the area Walmart wants rv's to park, the truckers park at the other end of the lot. Nobody here when we pulled in. sometimes as many as 30 rigs park here for the night.
Glad you had Safe Travels and made some Distance heading east.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a relaxing evening.
It's about time.
We are taking our time putting a few miles a day on.
DeleteNice day you got things taken care of and then a nice drive to a great spot! My kind of day! Love the Texas Canyon rest area! Dinner looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt was a productive day and got a few things taken care go along the way as well.
DeleteGreat pictures!! I love that part of the country.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy we love it too
DeleteNice to get things taken care of in Benson for peace of mind down the road. Not sure what you meant by free crash??? Anyway, love those rocks in that area, always makes your mind wonder how they ended up like that for us all to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYes it was nice ( ok crash , was short for for car wash, lol). Always love seeing the amazing rocks.
DeleteI remember seeing those rock formations for the first time back in 1973 on a motorcycle trip across the country. I wondered how they got there. I still do. ;c)
ReplyDeleteYes they sure are amazing and like you said, how did they get there?
DeleteYou got so much accomplished on this day. Was the free car wash for both the RV and auto?
ReplyDeleteIt was good day , the wash just for the car RV too big. No Matter I do that anyway when I can .
DeleteWe were a couple of days behind you.
ReplyDeleteYes you were now we are off in different directions for a while.
