Arizona Market Place and a sunny day with a cool, west wind

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A great sleep and a mild night 52F at 5am was very nice and no wind to start the day off. Got my first walkabout as the sun was rising, but it hid behind the clouds so no colourful display today.
Back home I thought we would enjoy a small beef chuck roast, today , Picked up one the other day at Fry's on Sale a 2.5 lb beef roast  for $7:45 not often we eat beef but with this deal. Cut it in half to put in our freezer. Into my slow cooker with potatoes, onions and carrots on low and just let it go all day and enjoy the lovely smell through our house.
Then at about 9:30 we headed into to the Arizona Market Place just because we could on a nice sunny day. But a cold west wind.
love the market place always something new
I cut this roast in half and froze the rest.
cut this in half for 2 meals
We do enjoy this market , and ran in to good friends Rob, Pat, Patsy and Bill as they were leaving . At 10 am never to busy yet but we  saw what we wanted and bought a few things that we were looking for.

lots of fresh fruits and veggies, good prices too
Back home by noon for at tasty light lunch then enjoyed the afternoon, very warm sunshine out of the wind with our e-readers.
Loving these amazing blue skies here in the desert
Later on we moved our car to block the west wind and enjoyed the sunshine on our patio.
this make a nice wind screen
After 3 pm our friends Kim and Ken joined us for Happy Hour. Just because they could and we were outside anyway. Always fun to chat with these guys, when we can.
Kim , Ken and Suzie
As it cooled down about 5 pm they headed home and I made some Yorkshire Pudding mix to go with our Roast beef , potatoes and carrots done to perfection on our Crock Pot.
this package does a great job so easy and quick
our crock pot we love
these Yorkshire puddings we love
Roast and veggies done now to thicken the gravy , so quick and easy.
Supper cooked perfectly in the crock pot, Added some Turnip we had in the freezer and really hit the spot today. Leftovers? Yup we did and will be great for light lunchtime meals.
what a very tasty roast beef diner we enjoyed
As supper was done we did actually manage to catch a bit of the end of today's sunset.
a perfect ending to another  great desert day
Hey, thanks again for dropping on by.

  1. WOW - sure like that beautiful blue sky! The Market Place is a great spot for fresh fruits and veggies. Do you buy any there? any issues returning to California? We only stock up on the way out of state, never returning.

    1. Yes love the skies here always so vey nice. Very good prices on the fruits and veggies, Alway buys some when we visit here. And have never had a problem ,I think because we are camped right across the state line, Yuma is the only place to shop.

  2. Did you find the Yorkshire pudding here or did you bring them from Canada? I found a recipe but haven't tried to make them yet

    1. It is a cool wind , but the sunshine is so nice. Some winters are better than others, we had a very cold rainy one quite a few years ago worse then this year. Still a lot better than back home.

    3. Contessa beat me to my question. I had never heard of it either. Does it only grow in that area? I am sure I have never seen it before either in Texas or Mexico.

    4. I have seen it in various places in our travels. I ams sure that this was grown locally at the farmer's market though.

  6. Now THAT'S a great looking dinner. Don't you have to put some beef fat or something in the pan before cooking the pudding? That's why I've never tried it before ... no fat hanging around except on me. I never thought to cut a roast in half ... I just eat leftovers for a week afterward. I'm definitely going to do that from now on!! Thanks so much for the tips!

    1. It was a very tasty dinner, I don't use the fat I just preheat the pan with a bit of canola oil instead. I like to portion our meals unless we want a lot of leftovers. Safe money and have a good variety of food.

  10. I love using our crock pot. Dinner looked wonderful even though we don't usually eat beef. Too funny running into Bill, Patsy, Rob and Pat at the Marketplace. We found the market to be much quieter this year when we visited, maybe due to the fact it seemed much smaller too. Keep enjoying the desert weather, so much better than back home in Ontario.

    1. We don't eat much beef either, and the crock pot we love as well. Usually run into somebody we know at that market. It is much smaller but still lotsa good vendors. We are enjoying these sunny warmer days than back home.
