Weather getting nicer today, a tasty pot of soup before the cooler weather sets in.

Where are we today ?

Wow did I ever get a good sleep. and my back is starting to feel much bette, Was 5:15 this morning when I woke up.  Perfect ! Got some coffees and computing done. Enjoyed a wonderful colourful sunrise this morning again , these desert skies never cease to amaze.
Then I had a craving to make a pot of soup. Checked to see what we have, ok Hurst's Ham and bean soup mix, some ham in the freezer to use up. Just wanted a bone . So get the beans on to boil and a quick trip to town for a smoked pork hock, diced tomatoes and a lemon.  The smoked pork hock adds the smoky flavour but not much meat . Our leftover ham added the meat so this will make a very tasty hearty pot of soup. Especially nice for the cooler weather coming.
love this bean soup mix
a very tasty large pot of stoup.
After lunch a quick trip to Discount Solar in Q, to replace and LED bulb that has been flickering. A nice bright one for our outside patio light. They got me a new one and said no charge they are guaranteed for 2 years. Good deal, really like dealing with these guys.
this new LED bulb  was free under warranty
Next plan was to clean our Blue flame heater, The flame is more yellow than blue. So took Bills advice . Cleaned the burner and and now looks wonderful . Clear blue flame and heating just like it was new again.
our Blue Flame like new again
Back home and relaxed in the shade with our e-readers and comfortable 75F with a nice 15 mph south wind.
another great desert day here in the southwest.
temos to 76 F perfect
Then at 3 pm I found out Happy hour at our place today, Hey that is perfect. Our last one here with all of our friends, Some are heading out in the morning and we are sure we will meet op again somewhere on down the road again.
another fun Happy Hour with these guys
The sun was setting as we wrapped up our HH, and we got our roast pork loin and the grill for supper.
a nice small pork loin roast we do love on our trivet
this did the trick tonight and once again some leftovers
As super was winding down we got to enjoy another wonderful desert sunset. We sure do love this area !
Just another fun day here in this Quartzsite desert setting, enjoying the warmth and sunshine. Plus the bonus of a fun Happy hour with good friends.

  1. What a beautiful day you enjoyed! We had a fun squall this afternoon with its storm to follow. I know you check the weather, and it's heading your way!
Fran makes the bean soup thick, like a stew. The next day it has thickened enough for bean burritos.

  4. The sky just before the sun came up this morning was beautiful.
The soup does look good and will be nice for the cooler days ahead. Though I have a feeling the people back home in what is really the frozen north right now will have no sympathy for what we will be calling cooler days.

    1. The skies were wonderful first thing this morning. The stoup is very tasty, and yes the cooler days ahead for us mean its below 70F lol.. This weather would be a heatwave back home.

  5. George, how cool does the weather guy think it will get? You seem to be ready with a great pot of soup, your blue-flame heater working well, and your propane tanks filled in case you might have to start the furnace. The only other thing I can think of is if winds pick up is wrapping some outside pipes if water is running through them or draining the pipes.

    1. Dee not that cold in the 50's during the day and High 30's at night. just not shorts weather, should be sunny so nt too bad. We needed propane anyway for our fridge and cooking. We don't have any outside water pipes that we need to worry about,

  6. So glad your back is feeling better. Beautiful sunrise pics! A good ham bone sure makes a great soup. Sounds really good, especially during cooler weather.

    1. It is starting to feel better. Especially love the great desert views here. A good ham bone is needed to make this soup tasty. Cooling down now a bit but nit really cold by any means.

  7. I've never tried cooking beans in my instant pot. I'm thinking a nice ham bone and that soup mix would be just the ticket.
