Nice start to the day then the weather went downhill, good excuse to do some inside stuff.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Here we are up and at it at the Hot Springs LTVA in California. After another good sleep  then I got a nice walkabout around the area again enjoying a wonderful  desert sunrise in southern California. Down by the canal and around the Hot Springs by the lagoon. Always love the views we have enjoyed here over the years. And I hope to get over there for a soak and shower when the weather gets a bit warmer. Never did get over 54F on a cloudy drizzly day. I  met a nice young fellow there Jose.  He asked where I was from. Ontario Canada I said. He replied I am from Ontario too (California). He was out just taking a tour and wanting to explore some of this amazing country, Arizona , Texas down along the gulf coast and into Florida. Safe travels Jose.
a nice sunrise to start our day
then downhill from there weather wise
I walked down by the canal not far from here looks so nice here in the desert.
Then over by the lagoons and hot springs always some nice views here too. An oasis in the desert is amazing.
A bit later 8 am I took  a drive into Holtville to check out the Del Sol market to see what they had interesting. Picked up some chicken drumsticks .88 cents a lb and a small? 9lb bone in ham for 9 dollars. I have in mind to cook this ham and make a pot of Ham Bean soup, on our list of cravings.
Back home puttered around for a bit and enjoyed a nice light lunch. then it was overcast and drizzling. So took some time going through my photos and purging them for a couple of hours and backed up my Mac Book with the time machine. Then a drive around this area still lots of very nice private sites here that look wonderful.
a few very nice secluded camp sites
Now still drizzling so back to our readers, inside today in my amazing new recliner, I can actually be comfortable inside reading now. I think I have mentioned how I love this chair before, lol. Finished my last book and began another author that I enjoy,
About 3 pm I put this half ham in our propane  oven, nice for heating our coach on a cool damp day about 300 F for a couple of hours, then do some fried leftover potatoes with onion and our salad, for a tasty supper , and lots of leftovers. A pot of soup tomorrow will be going first thing in the morning.
this smelled so nice cooking all afternoon
oh yeah we have ham! lots of it too
Supper was very tasty the fried potatoes, salad and a yummy slice of ham.
did the trick tonight
That was about the end of our day, inside relaxing posting this blog reading a bit more then a movie or something (whatever Suzie likes usually) on the tube for a while.
No visible sunset tonight though I know it was out there somewhere.
All in all a very nice comfortable day getting things done inside, We need  days like this to get these things taken care of.
Thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoyed your day no matter the weather.

Where have we been this Winter?

  1. A chilly damp morning would seem to be a good time to soak in the hot springs. Did you check the temperature of the spring? It can be quite hot, or not ... Dinner looks great, was the ham cooked in the Weber?

    1. It was pretty hot could see the steam rising. Don't like the cold weather enough to soak in the hot spring. I prefer the warmer weather and sunshine.
Dinner very tasty the ham was cooked in the oven today, the extra warmth inside was nice.

  2. We had a very overcast day today and just a little bit ago it poured but seems to have stopped. Tomorrow another mid 50's day.

That little pond you showed lookd like the place my friend kind of hid out in this summer as she had to stay there until all her paper work was done to make the Q her home base and become a resident of AZ. I felt so bad for her and her poor pups in that heat.

  3. That ham looked great. One of the things I miss because of the size of them , they are just too much for me. It will be interesting to see the different meals you will make from it. Going to have to add to the places to see is the hot springs. Have seen you stayed there before, but todays pictures looked very interesting.

    1. Now you will be tight into the thick of things again. I guess the rain was needed, not problem here. I did this ham in our oven today, just because we were inside all day anyway.

  5. Beautiful sunrise, clouds always make it so pretty. Ham looks absolutely wonderful. Sometimes those inside days are nice, like you used it to purge and backup. When it's nice outside you feel guilty for being inside doing things like that.

  8. We cooked a ham for Christmas dinner this year. Like you we had lots of left overs. We used some of them for breakfast with fried ham and eggs. When next I get a ham like that I will buy it where I can ask a butcher to cut it in half for me.
I love the water area there, that is so inviting looking.
Enjoy your time in Holtville George.
