Woke up to a nice mild 48 f at 5 am much warmer due to some overnight cloud cover. As the sun was rising I headed out for a walkabout got my first 2.5 miles in. (ended up with 3.8 miles today). Enjoying the sunrise.

Just after 9 am I headed into Tyson Wells looking for some 20 amp mini fuses, Tried K and B then K and B Tools (sold out) across the street Larry the drill bit guy have a large mixed box and I picked up 30 of these tiny babies (5 for a buck), Hard to find anywhere I have been, so probably have a lifetime supply. Then down the street looking for a spare ball gasket for our Dometic toilet. RV Lifestyles has them $38. 95, But the Gambler has the same one for $24.95 , always nice to have a spare one of these on hand for a good price.
|

At the Gambler for my gasket and they had taillights for our coach that we could not find last summer when we had the body work done . Here the have them new in the box for 20 bucks! Our body shop back home paid $135.00 dollars for one! Well actually the insurance company did.

|
this was our views most of the day |
Back home for a light lunch then puttered around for a bit and about 1:30 we went to the QIA to watch a concert by the
New Christie Minstrels only $15.00 each and a good after noon for it, with mostly overcast skies and a cool breeze, even had some rain. This band has been lead by Randy Sparks and he is still the headliner he is the first man out at 85 years old, and an amazing 85 he is. When he gets into the music you would never know.
|
the Theatre at the QIA in Quartzsite |
They play a lot of music, wonderful folk music that hit the charts back in the 60's and 70's. He started this band in 1962 and has kept it going all these years. So glad he did and we could enjoy their show. I believe his 14th year playing here, and he loves Quartzsite, He even wrote a song about HI Jolly back in the 50's.
|
This be Randy Sparks at the beginning |
His 7 piece band came out and they are all amazing entertainers . Each of them sang , played instruments and had stories to tell. Not just singing but great entertainment that went from 2 pm until 4:45 with a 15 minute break . What a fun afternoon especially being it was an overcast, cool and drizzly day.
All done now and we headed back home, to enjoy a short happy hour together, Noticed the sun shine on the mountain to the east what a wonderful site to see.
Back home maybe a sunset was in the works.
|
interesting skies at 5pm |
Behind us we have 2 couples in tents enjoying this desert area and one man is in a wheel chair. plus they have 3 dogs.
|
tent camping not far behind us |
Then the wind dies down and we enjoyed our happy hour outside until the sun finally set, then headed in to whip up supper.
|
interesting sunsets tonight, everyone is different |
For supper I made a salad topped with some turkey salad I made with mayo, onion and relish plus the rest of our ham tetrazzini from the other night.
|
this sure hit the spot tnight |
I was asked yesterday on a few comments about the trivet (as I call it) we put under our turkey. So below is a picture of it. I guess it is a small cooling rack for baked goods. I covered it with foil slit a few small holes in the foil set in on top of a piece of foil and the Turkey on the trivet. This stops the inside (cut side) of the turkey from burning from the heat and cooks it like an oven. The less you open the lid the quicker it cooks, about 20 minutes a pound to 165 internal temperature, it browned nicely with crispy skin and did not dry out works wonderful.
|
the half turkey I cooked yesterday |
|
this what I call my trivet. covered with foil |
What a fun day we had getting things done and enjoying some wonderful music entertainment on a cloudy drizzling afternoon, event though it was 70 f with cloudy skies and a cool breeze.
Just want to say thanks again for dropping on by.

We loved the show as well.
ReplyDeleteThe weather wasn't sure what it was going to do for a while.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
The weather was up and own but ended with some interesting skies. The show was excellent.
DeleteI've never heard of a theatre in Q. Maybe I should spend a little more time there!! GREAT turkey!! I just love the crispy skin you get from cooking them on the bbq.
ReplyDeleteThe Desert Sky Theatre is at the QIA , where the POW WOW is next Wed. to Saturday. Always lots of things going on there. And the Canadian Pot Luck in the 26th.
DeleteThanks for the clarification on the process and trivit George. Going to have to give it a try in the future. Now today I bet you I am going to keep hearing, This Land is Your Land.
ReplyDeleteYou welcome Peter, this works for some items, you need to use foil under it note the grill mat. The grill mat needs something cooking right on it or will overheat. Of course they sang that song and a few more of their hits. A fun show well worth it.
DeleteHard to imagine the New Christie Minstrels are still performing - I hadn't heard of them in a long, long time but good to hear they still put on an enjoyable show.
ReplyDeleteWe have nit heard them for a very long time either, but they still do an amazing show.
DeleteIt sounds like another great day George and Suzie. You always get things done and enjoy what you can!
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful fun day we both enjoyed.
DeleteWe've also enjoyed the performance the New Christy Minstrels, they do put on a great show. Altho we've been to Quartzite a few times, we have yet to attend the big rally.
ReplyDeleteThey did put on a wonderful show.
DeleteThis rally/zoo is always a fun we enjoy it most every year.

ReplyDeleteThanks Patsy it was a very nice day as always.
DeleteAnother fun day. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteYes Deb it was a very nice day thanks.
DeleteLooks like a great day! Beautiful sunset pics! Looks like a great concert! To be 85 and still performing, guess that keeps them young!
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful day, and the sunsets here amazing as you well know.He sure does still put pn a great show, I am sure it does keep him young.
DeleteWhat a great concert!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the further explanation of the turkey cooking method.
