A windy desert day, visit to Tyson Wells, the tent and good friends we have not seen for a couple of years.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A bit cooler last night about 44f at 4:30 this morning mainly because of the cloudless desert sky overnight. A fresh pot of coffee and my oatmeal , some computing then at 7 am was going to take a walkabout but was chillier than I like, did not want to put on my heavy coat.
But did want to pick up a few things groceries in town, salad stuff, So headed on in to the Roadrunner market at 7 am. nice that they open early. No traffic just the way I enjoy Quartzsite.
another nice surise
Back home puttered around for a while and thought we would get back to check out Tyson Wells again with a few more vendors there now and another quick walkthrough the tent. Left at 9 am and got a convenient parking spot. Walked the rows and across the road to the tent and back. It was bright and sunny but the cold north wind made it chilly. Bumped into our neighbours, Rob, Pat, Bill and Patsy as they were cruising the tent again.
lots more vendors now this week
not too busy yet early and the cold wind
lotsa hats here
wonderful fresh baked bread we sampled but did not buy
Then into the tent not too busy but busy enough, nothing new.
Quartzsite Museum info
That was enough time here heading back to the car, too early for Beer Belly's.
adult Day care
food court quiet, not a nice day to eat outside
We saw all we wanted, did not buy anything and were back home by 11 am. We got some nice fresh air and exercise. 2.5 miles today. A nice morning outing. Passing the dump station this morning at at 11 am there was 30 rigs in line and with only 2 sewer dumps probably a 2 hour wait or longer in that line.
very long line for the dump station
neighbours behind us in tents that are trying to stop blow away
we could enjoy outside for a while our coach blocking
most of the wind and we had warm sunshine
We had a phone call from good friends Denis and Sandy that we met back n 2007 and connected many times over the years in various places. They were in the area and dropped on by to catch up with us again. So nice to see them. It has been 2 years since we last connected. And hope to do it again this winter at some point.
Sandy, Suzie and Denis
Because  it was so windy outside when they arrived we sat inside and flapped our gums for a while to catch up for a while. But they had to get going for another function and soon headed out .
Suzie and Sandy
They were full time for maybe a dozen or more years and had a HUGE 45 luxury coach they called the mothership and it was. This last fall they sold that bought a place in Yuma and bought the wonderful class B rv that they can get away with make shorter trips.
yes they downsized and it is wonderful ,
Sandy waving so long for now
thanks to dropping by guys!
For supper tonight because it is so very windy out, gusts to 32 mph a good day to cook in side. And Suzie's choice was Garlic Shrimp Pasta a very easy and tasty meal we both love. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
oh my this is wonderful
and of course leftovers
As  supper was about done the sun was setting and did not disappoint us tonight.
For any Canadians here in Quartzsite there is a pot luck dinner this Saturday at the QIA its been a few years for us and is always fun to meet more Canadians here in the desert.
Now even with the wind today we enjoyed the wonderful blue skies, sunshine and a visit with good friends we have not seen for a few years. Then a very tasty supper.
Hope you had a great winter day as well. Thanks for dropping on by.

  2. Great dinner choice Suzie. Sorry about the wind. Actually I had to come inside to read this afternoon due to the cool breeze. I can't imagine waiting in a line that long to dump.

    1. This be Suzie's new favourite meal. We did most of our reading inside as well the breeze was very cool. The best time to go is early morning like we did the other day or after 4pm.

  3. Long line at the dump station! Is there a pump-out service? does it provide fresh water? I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee than weight in that line! Some more of that great Mexican shrimp!

    1. There was a guy around a few years ago from Washington brought his truck to pump out, but did not see any signs this year. There is other places in town where you pay about $15.00 to dump and $5.00 to fill with essentially no lineups but they don't have to pay here. There is times when there is essentially no line everyone wants to go there between 8 am and 4 pm

  10. That was quite a lineup. Good thing you got around early. The wind has been really strong here in S Texas the past couple of days as well. Fortunately it's been warm during the day. As soon as the sun starts to set it gets cold quick. Its cooler here today.

    1. We do like to get things done early because we are up anyway. Beat the crowds.
The desert here is nice and sunny during the day and cools down quickly once the sun sets.
