A nice quiet New Year's Day. and doggie fixes for Suzie.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Here we are now the year 2019 who woulda thought. It sounds like wow were did the time go.
After a fun New Year's eve with good friends from Rock Glen Resort in Ontario. Suzie and I managed to stay awake at home until 10 pm (midnight in New York) watching the Ball drop in Times Square telling us the new year is here. A good sleep and I even slept much later this morning until 5:30.Would be nice if I could do that every day. But then I feel like I have missed part of the day.
The weather for today a bit better than yesterday  still cool in the low 50's F a cold north wind about 25 mph. But we do have a cloudless sunny sky, love that warming sunshine !
Today we decided for our New Years dinner, Corned Beef and Cabbage for a special treat. I got the corn beef, potatoes, celery, carrots and spice packet into our new to us Crock Pot cooker early to get it going on low all day. The only thing missing was the cabbage, no problem a quick 10 minute drive to the closest grocery store I grabbed a small red cabbage. it does not need to go in until the last couple of hours.
Then a special tasty New Years Brunch, Peameal back bacon and eggs to start the year off right. We did bring a good supply of peameal bacon from home.
After lunch I took drive west of here and up Ogilby road. Have not been up that way this year yet.
I turned north here and noticed all the dust blowing in the dunes a bit further west. Those stand dunes sure can blow a lot of sand and dust around with this wind, rearranging the dunes in the process.
can barely see the dunes in the distance not far away
Then a bit further north just over the train tracks to the right still quite a few rigs camped here in this free area.
lots of wide open space here
Then down America Girl Mine road lots of rigs here enjoying this area as well.
American Girl Mine Road
Now back home Suzie and I enjoyed reading outside in this warming sun though only 54F in front of our coach we are sheltered from the cold north wind.
loving these sunny blue skies
Reading our page turners what a wonderful way to enjoy a New Years day outside in the fresh dry air. As usual I would read for a bit, a walkabout, putter around and read a bit more.
The following 2 pictures I snaffled from Patsy's Blog posting (Chillin' with Patsy) thanks for sharing Patsy.
This picture was taken by Bill Richards the other day of our site
when he had his drone in the air
This was our New Years eve with our bunch from Rock Glen Resort

About 5 pm we getting ready to head inside, really cooling down now. Bill and Clemson walked by and Suzie got a doggie fix.
Suzie and Clemson he is such a sweetie
Then Ron and Freddy walked by. Stopped to chat, so Suzie had to come and see Freddy.
Freddy waiting for Suzie
what a beautiful friendly dog he is
While were chatting with Ron another couple stopped by he knew from here to chat as well. They are from Yerington NV. Wow we know of the place as fellow bloggers we have met Ken and Shirley are for there. They also know of Kevin and Ruth, as well as Contessa's blog from Mazatlan (Stone Island Mexico). They are heading into Mexico again very shortly and have done so for many years. Now is this not a small world?
Time for supper and our corned beef and cabbage meal is all done, we could smell it cooking all day inside our coach
Oh my, this was excellent and a nice treat for us
of course I picked it up of sale a while ago for 6 bucks
While enjoying our supper we also got to enjoy another wonderful desert sunset. You can see the smoke in the air I believe burning garbage in Mexico. we can see it most days but very rarely smell the smoke.
as the sun begins to set
going
going
still going
that's it the show is over
That was our very nice relaxing day. sunshine, cooler, and windy but we did get to spend most of the day outside even a few walkabout just under  2 miles walked today, better than none.
Thanks for taking a peek and hope y'all enjoy a nice New Years day as well.

  1. The road trip this year will take us back to Canada, I definitely want to come back with some peameal back bacon! Not sure when I last had corned beef and cabbage, must have been a St Pat's Day thing, save your leftovers for some awesome corned beef tacos!, my St. Pat go-to now!
The harvest is in now, the smoke you see is often the farmers burning off their fields. They'll plow in the ash for the next season.

Thanks for the info on the smoke we see it every year some body told us it was garbage being burnt.

  4. What a small world! Our town is so little and there you meet people from there! One year here at Parker, we ran into a couple that was from Yerington too. They're probably here now somewhere looking to escape the cold. Corned beef and cabbage definitely a good way to bring in the new year! Great pics of the sunset

    1. Amazing how you run into people from so many places. Earlier this year we met a couple from Escanaba where Tom and Deb are from. Supper was tasty and you know the desert sunsets we love.

    1. Thanks Marlene, this is our home and our lifestyle, enjoying the fresh air reading, making tasty meals and exercise is all part of our day and like to pace ourselves. No hurry and no need to be on the go everyday. Two more days and we can move a short distance down the road again.

  8. Great sunset pictures.
We love parking out on Olgilby Road always a quiet restful stop and for some reason no matter how many rigs are out there does not seem crowded.

  9. We just love slow cooker meals, so easy and so good. We even use the crock pot while we're driving in the RV, arrive to a hot meal. Great invention, how did we ever live without one? ;c)

  10. Corn beef and cabbage look scrumptious! We did the fresh collard green, left over Christmas ham, and black-eyed peas.

Just as you and Suzie did, we are heading out this week on the Royal Princess except from Fort Lauderdale. It's hard trying to pack light like you and Suzie did; Beach keeps telling me that if we forget something, we can pick it up in Florida, but I hate to stop for little things. According to the Weather Channel, you two are in for some cold weather; it's even dipping down as low as San Antonio and Houston; the cold will be making its way to the east coast and northern Florida, but I think we will be driving south of the front as far as Miami and will miss it.

Hope you and Suzie have many blessings in 2019.
